Thank you for another "shopping' video! I love them, and hope you do more to come. Sharing your knowledge, in real time, while walking around looking at various bottles, has been very helpful for me, and I appreciate this! Keep up your great work.
Costco needs to start sponsoring this channel!! lol.. Seem like the East Coast Costco locations have different selections though- maybe I missed the premium section..
Wow Patrick, so glad to see you up here in my neck of the woods (I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains but grew up in Pacifica, just over the hill from South SF). I've been to that Costco many times. I hope you and Bernadette enjoy yourselves while you are visiting Nor. Cal, with the wines you bought I know you will. Thanks for the great video as always and looking forward to your upcoming one tasting them, cheers!
I have a Chateau Talbot in my cellar purchased from Total wines a while ago. and as soon as I hear '2010 is fantastic vintage', I rushed to check my bottle, and it was 2017. 🤣. I think I paid about 70-75 dollars for a regular bottle. so that magnum is a great deal for sure.
Yes, more. This is your best video. You should buy and taste through most of the wines at all of the Costco's in your area. It is interesting to see the great prices they have and to compare what my local Costco charges for the same wine. We want to know what you think of the interesting wines so we can decide if we should buy them.
Bought the 2016 Ducru Becaillou on recommendation of an employee at the wine-shop as my first class growth Bordeuax - he said it was a better buy than buying the young first growths at over twice the price. Looking forward to trying it! But will it be completely wasteful to drink it early?
Thank you Dr. I got the new idea to have Chateau Talbot 2010 vintage. Would you let me know how to know every production area what vintage is great? French, Italian, German, USA etc. Tonight I will drink Schramsberg. good day.
Patrick when you will have time do one in Wholefoods that unlike Costco it is present even here in Europe! Since I assume their selection will be somehow similar. Great episode.
Some of my favorite Bordeaux there but too young to drink now. I prefer 10+ years. I’ve got some 2011’s (not a great vintage) but I think they’re just about ready to drink. Patrick, I live down the road from St. Francis Winery, so if you’re ever in the neighborhood let me know!
Hi Pat, would like your thoughts on this.I always hesitated to buy wines from places like Costco and duty free for a few reasons. The main issue I have is that those cork bottle wines are standing up on the shelfs, don’t they dry out when there’s no wine touching the cork?i don’t mind those early drinking bottles but what about the ones to cellar?
Yes, upright storage is ok for young wines, less ok for older wines because of the cork drying out. Remember, those were DISPLAY wines. I would hope that the expensive bottles stored in another room were stored on their sides.
I’m amazed by so many great wines that Californian Costco carries. Costcos in Georgia should do much better job. You can hardly find any burgundy and champagnes in here. So sad.
Hello Patrick, I would like to see you taste and talk about wines from uncommon regions such as Serbian, Bosnian and Slovene wine, Austrian wine and others
Shouldn’t the really expensive wines be in a temp controlled storage? I see them every time I go to Costco and debate getting it but don’t want to spend that amount of the bottle could be flawed
I’ve had that thought too, but Costco is always quite cold, especially by all those open meat refrigeration units, and it’s a highly consistent temp so it’s actually not a bad place to store those wines at retail. I’ve only had one really bad oxidation bottle from Costco, and they took it back no questions.
I stopped doing WineKing videos for a range of reasons. I’m very happy with the course that this channel has taken and look forward to further, gradual expansion.
I'm a bit irritated about these showcases, Burgundies, Bordeaux all mixed up and a Barolo thrown in between for good measure. Do these guys simply have no clue, is there a system so sophisticated only a MW could figure it out? A bit of a riddle ....
Your point is a good one. No point of sale material explaining how terrific some of those wines are and wines lumped in together assuming that the consumer knows enough to purchase the wines.
I love following you around as you shop for wines at Costco. So much fun!

Great job. Can’t wait for the tasting! I would also love to see a video of your cellar

Looks really happy with good wines! Thx for sharing!
I saw a few cases of Maison de Grand Esprit Crémant at my local Costco this past weekend. Thanks for the previous recommendation.
Really like these shopping videos. Magnum Talbot 2010 for that price?? I would buy that in a heartbeat!
OMG tasting session w/ fellow MW cant wait

Great video! I love seeing these shopping vids. What vintage was that Beychevelle?

If you drink it early, consider decanting the bottle 4-5 hours prior to consumption.
@@dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496 Allright! Thank you for the advice!

Definitely, Ch Talbot 2010 is a super great deal. 2010 is an amazing vintage, well done!!
2010 Chateau Talbot, Excellent Choice! 2 Stars Coup de Coeur!
Could someone explain to me why the Chateau Haut-Brion is under $500 shown here at Costco? Thanks.

Great episode.
We’ll shoot one soon.
@@dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496 that will be amazing!
Great idea! Look forward to seeing this.
I like shopping with Dr Pat in Costco.
I am looking forward on your tasting note on Chartau Talbot😋
also a Beychevelle? or Amiral? Which is your prefered Medoc village appelation?
Pauillac when I want power. Margaux when I seek elegance and finesse.
Patrick, great video, the blind tasting was a lot of fun!
Go UR! Went to Rochester in the ‘90s!
Looking forward to seeing the blind tasting! I guess that Talbot should be great but wonder how it will fare a blind tasting. (Rubbing my hands)
Unbelievable that haut brion in korea is almost 700$….ㅜㅜ when covid is over, i will definitely go america.
I love getting into wine so much to learn from you guys!!
which costco is this one? which has better wine selection? next to sfo or el camino real? thank you
Aside from the big FU wines, Schramsberg is absolutely fantastic. -Chris

Wish my local costco would offer these wines
Do you know Costco’s return policy for corked wines?
Hermitage North Rhone such amazing Syrah. World class
And some crozes-hermitage as well for quite a bit less!
Oh my gosh! This is my neighborhood costco!!! Wish I were there to say 👋!!!!
That would be cool 😎
Will you be tasting any of these wines on video?
WOW your Costco has some fantastic wines. Cos D'Estournel 😍. Yes Blanc de Blanc Schramsberg is great!

Excellent
You need a lavalier mic, Patrick. The sound is uneven and sometimes muffled. Love your educational channel.
Interesting, La Mission selling 15$ higher than Chateau Haut-Brion! Due to the vintage maybe?
Probably. I was so tempted to purchase more.

Costco's return policy is very generous. They're usually happy to give a refund if anything is wrong.
Love the Costco videos, more Costco I content please maybe $25 and under?
Costco is real good place to buy wines with good price.. I saw one of my favorite wine which is located in Pas Robles. have to buy more wines.

@Curtis Callaway Exactly. Shit tons of bad American wines. The Costco wine manager is either a patriot or knows shit about wine
Well it's Georgia, what do you expect?
Hello Patrick, I would like to see you taste and talk about wines from uncommon regions such as Serbian, Bosnian and Slovene wine, Austrian wine and others
Austrian wine is readily available here, less so for the other places which are better suited for a master class.
wait a min.... there is a costco that sell Haut-Brion and the cheaper Lafite? All I have is the cheaper Margaux!
$50 Puligny Montrachet does not exist in Michigan. ☹️ Not even at Costco. Your magnum of 2010 Talbot was a steal-I’m surprised you only bought one!
They only had 1!
They had the display bottle … but we were only in Sonoma for a week and it would have been impractical to take it on the plane home with us.
Seriously, are the prices real?🤯 I have to pay at least triple times more than that
This is why I have to go to California🤦♂️
My costco carries Meomi... I have my ways to get good stuff but dang
