Wonderful session. Presentation was immensely viewer friendly. Each wine bottle individually displayed and labeled. The tasting were, as always, delightful and entertaining. Thank you. Yes, life is short, savoring wine makes it sweet.

My comment is about a year too late, but tonight I picked up a bottle of the 2018 Louis Jadot Bourgogne based on this video review and I'm really enjoying it! I've also had the Clos des Ursules before and loved it. Thanks for making these videos, they're fun to watch and very helpful.

I was all kinds of messed up until No.5. Because I'm a broke b*tch. I could NEVER afford a $100 bottle of wine. But I can TOTALLY convince myself to spend $15/20. Glad to know there are bottles that I can find, that I can afford, that wine pros can also appreciate. It helps me believe more in being able to LEARN about wine ad love it more and more!
anyway , the louis jadot i know, they do produce a wide range of burgundy red/white wine in a price list. louis jadot - they do have some very good entry level of burgundy wines in a affordable pricing, to lead you enter burgundy world.

So I’m a wine newbie (I’m only 23), my experience with wine is well just what you would expect. Having just watched your total wine suggestion video. What if you do it again but this time, the concept is building a budget cellar (100/120$) vs. peter’s suggestions within that budget. Also match a variety for variety.
That's absolutely crazy! My fred Meyer sells that Louis jadot for $13.99 with a club card, I had it a while back and loved it. Went out to that Fred Meyers and grabbed another bottle! One thing I love about these videos and the little gems you find. The fact that this level of quality in wine can be found at a 20$ bottle is crazy!
I’d reeeally love to see a blind tasting with Champagne and Franciacorta at price points...I think it could really be a pleasurable and educational content for a new video!
I’ve always struggled with burgundy. I find that across all price points you can get garbage. Buy the producer. There’s been so many times I’ve spent $50+ on a burgundy with a fantastic nose that tastes like water. -Chris
Louis Jadot is one of my favorites because of the price/quality ratio and, as you say, it is to take advantage of buying when we realize that a vintage is perfect. the one I don't like very much is the burgundy and chablis by Louis Latour
Hi Jay, Thank you so much for doing the tasting of Pinot Noirs. Going to Total Wine to see if they have Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018 for $20. Cheers!
@@speeddevil3218 Yes, and Costco also carries it at the same price, so picked one up and it was really good, especially after MW Peter's recommendation.
Great tasting. I had a Hautes Cotes de Nuits 2010 Jayer-Gilles at Alliance restaurant in Paris in 2020…..was absolutely gorgeous. As the vintages get hotter HCDN just gets better. 👌
Hi Guys, thanks for another great show. A question, I may be missing something but the title indicates 10 wines but 5 are shown in detail. Why is this please?

I was just about to say where is the Pinot Noir Video (but will you make one comparing US vs NZ vs Jura vs Loire vs Burgundy ? Could be nice). You guys are great. I like how Peter tastes, emotions, terroirs, not a robotic approach
A long time ago, and I mean a very long time ago, half a century ago, my father and I became interested in wines, and French wines were a fraction of the price they are today. A decent bottle of Bordeaux would run us $4-6 a bottle (second growths, first growth were always around $35 a bottle, we wouldn't go near them). Burgundy was a rare treat, we are talking $8-9 a bottle, twice the price of a Bordeaux, but still affordable for our pocketbook. Dad noted that Burgundy had a perfume that just slammed you in the back of the mouth, and magic happened. Alas, French wine quickly became unaffordable, and we began to experiment with the clearly lesser quality California wines. Cabernet were a superb substitute for Medoc and Margaux, I never cared for St Emillion or Pomerol, and quickly learned that was because they were merlot based. Life was, and remains too short to drink merlot (except for lamb and possibly chicken). But somehow, the California Pinot Noirs never tasted even remotely like Burgundy, both were red, and there the comparisons ended. Well fast forward a few decades, with a few more dollars in my pocket, Iwent back to Burgundy and have been universally disappointed. Thin, insipid wines, invariably astringent/green as if I were sucking on grape stems, and minimal grape flavor to boot, to the point of almost being tasteless. Mild aroma, but nothing like the memories of my youth, and not even remotely worth purchasing. A $10 Washington State or Oregon pinot tends to be superior, at least to my flavor preferences, to a $50 Burgundy rip off. So this is a very interesting video. I am completely willing to invest in a bottle of the Jadot Bourgogne '18 and the Droughin Beaune-Villages. I'm trusting you guys, and if I can actually find the bottles, I will be happy to update my comments. I'm not shelling out $80 for a bottle of wine, because an $80 bottle will spill just as easily as a $10-20 wine, but with much less heartburn afterwards. Let's see...

Great video as always. I really find value in your approach when you blind taste the wine and then give your thoughts on what the price should be relative to the quality of what you tasted. I don’t mind paying any price for a wine so long as I get back a fair value from the bottle.
I absolutely love Pinot Noir. This video hits very close to home. Recently went wine tasting and had the best Pinot I have ever tasted from Santa Barbara county. Of course my pallet is not as sharp as you two.
Speaking about the pricing of overseas old world wines is a tricky. If the wine cost 22 dollar in the usa's retail, then you must take out shipping costs, importer mark up, wholesalers mark ups akd taxes. You will find out eventually that 25 dollar bottle actually costs 8 euro in France....
I love Peter's comment about the loudest person at the table having the worst palate hahahaha. Jay, you could have thrown a cheap Pinot Noir from the Languedoc or California to make Peter mad! hahahaha. Wow, I haven't had luck with the standard Jadot Bourgogne Rouge.
Hi Friends, Love your videos! I'm officialy subscribed after this one! I have the chance to be in charge of one of the most beautifull cellar in Reims (Champagne region) in France, I'm pretty agree on your choices! Love Louis Jadot, and Ô boy This tasting looks amazing! You should try "Dommaine de la vougeraie" in Burgundy as well. The cuvée "Terre de famille" made out of pinot noir! it's excelent! See You ^^
Peter's comment about paying for terroir or wine-maker at 7:25 was very interesting - it's often assumed that Burgundy is all terroir but the producers also play a significant role - can be the difference of hundreds or thousands of dollars difference in bottles from the same appellation. I agree the few Haut Cote de Nuits I've tasted have all been excellent, while being extremely affordable to drink. I had commented earlier on another video about you tasting through various white/red Burgundy wines, so thank you for doing these videos. I'd also been interested in seeing both of your notes, how you lay out the grid on your paper and what kind of specific notes you write down. I'm very used to writing the Court of Master Sommelier's grid, but with 30+ years of experience, I'd really like to see how Peter lays out his notes. Again, really enjoying these videos. Thank you Jay and Peter!~

BDM vs RDM vs
Great session, man. Thanx a lot!
Great tasting! Will you upload the remaining 5 as well?
Thanks! Yes, in a day you'll see part 2
I absolutely love Pinot Noir. This video hits very close to home. Recently went wine tasting and had the best Pinot I have ever tasted from Santa Barbara county. Of course my pallet is not as sharp as you two.
Love the content. Learning so much.
Speaking about the pricing of overseas old world wines is a tricky. If the wine cost 22 dollar in the usa's retail, then you must take out shipping costs, importer mark up, wholesalers mark ups akd taxes. You will find out eventually that 25 dollar bottle actually costs 8 euro in France....
depends on size, 8 euro if its big producer like louis jadot, if smaller producer mark up is gonna be bigger :)
@@killerdude-hz2bb the three tier system, right..
See You ^^
lucien le moine is one of my favorite negociants in burgundy, to bad the bottle didnt live up to the qpr
I wish my friend and I could do something like this!
It sucks that Burgundy wines are so expensive. I wanted to try a Gevrey-Chambertin for the second time but at the price they go for now, it is crazy.
Something goes wrong! it ended in the middle. I will not go to bed till you give the rest of it.

Among the two: appellation and winemaking, which one becomes more expensive than the other as their quality increases?
