World's 5 Best $10 selected wines by us are as following:
- n.34: Trivento Reserve Limited Edition Malbec 2020
- n.56: Lindeman's Bin 50 Shiraz 2020
- n.64: Hardys Stamp Shiraz Cabernet 2020
- n.1: 1887 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
- n.28: Santa Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
The production of this video was possible due to a dozen of Korean importers funding and supporting this project. I can't even count the meetings I've had with all the importers, to make this project a thing. So dozens of importers submitted hundreds of wines for the project. And as we've said many times in the video, the judges of those wines, Peter and I, were completely oblivious as to what they were. That was the whole point of this project. Every individual bottle were concealed with paper bags during the tasting, so we couldn't possibly guess what they were beforehand. It was, in my words, a 'perfect blind tasting'. Therefore, importers couldn't just send any wines to promote them as they want. they sent their best wines, and we didn't know anything about it until we tasted them. That's how the whole thing was done. Of course, with dozens of importers, some of them sent a lot of wines and some of them just a few. The deal was like this: importers with a lof of wine selected during tasting would have to provide more supports to the production of our content, and vice-versa. When none of their wines were selected, the importers weren't charged anything. Not even an entry fee. It was completely free. So in summary, each importer had a choice as to participate in this project and how many wines to submit, but nothing else. We did our tasting completely blind, but importers were promised to give supports proportional to the number of wines selected.
That was the behind the scene of all this. So with those 52 wines selected, I can be sure to say we've chosen them without prejudice.
So all the wines selected, I'll be bringing them wherever I go, drinking them with all the wonderful foods around the world. You'll be able to watch that in my channel, since I'll be filming all of it!~

(30 years ago, when I started drinking wine, Lindeman's Bin 50 was my go to wine. Both their red and white were enjoyable as entry level wines in the supermarkets. Glad they still keep the quality up after all these years!)

This is a really good description of "recipe wine making". I appreciate that concise clarification. I've binged a lot of the episodes over the last two months and I have to commend Peter for making things really accessible. Wine has a very large barrier to entry as a consumer, both monetarily and socially and by taking small lessons here and there you've made it very digestible.
Peter reminds me a lot of Richard Feynman in his Feynman lectures on physics. I cannot understate how much I appreciate this content.

I'm glad that my country always deliver value at the bottom (fun fact Trivento is Chilean owned also). I would love though that a lot of small producers (and some big too) who make terroir wine, with a lot of attention to detail, but in a more expensive fashion obviously, get more recognition. They struggle to export their wines because we're seen as value-wine producers only. Love your videos Jay and Master Peter.

Unexpected, Santa Helena is a very very low valué here in Chile (4 dolllars), this level of wine is used ussually to made some traditional foods. I have never tasted it, but I’ll give an opportunity. Best regards from 🇨🇱
