- This is Video 2 of 4 I will be uploading today! In this video I give a short tour (for those who haven't seen my in depth tour yet) and test drive of a 2003 ford escape limited. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I show the car idling as well as take it on a thorough test drive through the city and highway on various surfaces. A thorough drive of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
Makes me miss my 2002 and my 2005 XLT V6s the most :( those engines are amazing.
No those are unreliable Junk
Had a lemon huh? Actually these are very reliable if taken care of
@@issavibez394 Nah. The Dodge Journey is far worse. The Ford Escape is better than that.
@@MasterJim2020 both still a pile of junk!!!! But yes ford is more reliable than dodge
Was the 2002 the first one?
These are my favorite Escapes of all time!
The Escape is probably 1 of my favorite cars out there, regardless of which model year. I also like the old Mercury Mariner and the Mazda Tribute, which are both different versions of the Escape as well. 😁👍
Mazda interior look better
I love these, my Aunt had a 2001, and racked up over 200,000 miles on it, and my Grandma bought a new 2008, and hasn't had a problem yet!
I like the 2001-2004 model years of the escapes the best
Me too
Robert D'Antonio me to and the Mazda Tribute
Robert D'Antonio except for the scary throttle catch recall.
Robert D'Antonio i had a 2005 escape that lasted me to 230,000 miles
ScherervilleEAS That was only for the V6 models the limited is a V4
i love my moms xlt sport escape...its very fast...took my dmv test and the instructor said i was kissing 50mph....great car...everytime i drive it i feel sporty...the v6 engine is frekand awsome for 200hp...love that car...with a 101 wheel base its easy too park...love the escape sooo much i bought a poster too hang in my room
So good first car? Ive been looking on craigslist and im tied between an 02 explorer and 02 escape
its an awsome car...i would suggest an 05 escape and above since u have the floor shifter...and get the xlt sport model...u wont b dissapointed
not first car and its the family car..hahaha
i know your comment is over a year old, but i hope you didn't get an 02 explorer. Truly one of the worst vehicles EVER designed and made. Escapes are MUCH better. I have an 04 Escape V6 4X4 and it's okay. Not the best car, but it does get around.
The F150 is Stylish c
Found one a couple years ago for $1500 130k miles, great car
I have a 2008 XLT with 71K miles on it and I can tell it's worth every dollar I paid for it. Very reliable, good looking and the V6 has plenty of power. I've put 10k in the last 6 months and it didn't break a sweat. I used to have a 4cyl Saturn VUE with the 5spd manual and I was amazed when I saw my Escape was getting the same combined mileage. I'm averaging 23mpg which is great considering this lady has a 4spd slushbox and I don't have an easy foot by any means.
I would recommend the Escape to anyone looking for a nice, inexpensive and decent CUV
since 2000 Fords really jumped up in quality.
Antonio Sadly, the only vehicles that have column shifters these days are trucks (whether pickup or truck based SUV), cargo vans, busses, and police cars.
Getting a 2005 Saturday!!
I used to have a 2003 ford escape xlt and I loved it. I drove it everywhere for the longest time. I got hit from the side on a winter night driving home from work. It sucked ass losing that truck. It was my baby
I'm in the UK and own a Blue 2004 3.0 XLT, I've had it 18 months and its now at about 75K miles on the clock, been great so far I must admit, very reliable and not bad out on the fields when I'm shooting. I also happen to really like them anyway. But of course the gas mileage utterly sucks, at under 20mpg round town. It may be 200bhp and 200 Torque but so are most 1.9 and 2 litre turbo diesels these days and they'll give about 35 round town and much more on the highway. That's why it was only offered in the UK for about 4 1/2 years. It failed here because they never offered a modern engine for it or a decent interior. Being a platform that is shared with Mazda the 2000 - 04 3.0 litre model was aimed squarely at the USA market, where gas is a tenth of the price of UK & Europe, but I still like it and use it as my weekend vehicle. Shame really as in the UK there are still no decent Ford 4x4 models below the rather agricultural and expensive Ranger model, the new Ford Edge is a two wheel drive school runner, with no off-road ability at all.
+Mark Swain if you complain about the mileage buy a prius. you dont buy a 3.0 v6 and expect more for a better the mileage
Mark Swain Why are you complaining about the gas mileage of a 13 year old v6 SUV?
My sister had a 2002 Ford Escape that was all black. She had it for 16 years. I only drove it once in 2004 just before she gotten married. It was a short drive for me. She even told me where to go. I rather have her to do all of the driving.
I swear, Kyle u give tha best reviews 'bout cars & test drives. Im'a get a car 4 graduation & I ALWAYS come 2 yo page 4 reviews on tha best cars. Keep tha good work up, bro.!
I really enjoy those Ford cars especialy the 2008-2009 Ford Focus'. The engine that Ford put in it is amazing. That 1.9L I4 gets excelent gas milage and sounds pretty good. The 1.5L I4 in the old generation of Focus sounded good and got good gas milage, but the 2008-2009 is better.
the materials on the door inserts and the passenger airbag are interesting..They are like a mix of hard and soft. they fool you. everything is firmly set in the escape, or tribute for that matter. I have no idea what that noise is..
The material isn't definitely hard like it is in my Grandmother's pilot.
As much as i hate the metallic painted plastic, i think it is of much better quality than has been since 06 with GM for example.
The ride is firm, yet not harsh like my grandfather's Volvo S70.
love the car
I'm getting that exact same car because I like that they have column shifter
I have the 2010 Escape Limited V6 4X4 ...I love it!
I have the 2016 Escape SE with a 1.6L Ecoboost engine. I like it.
@@MasterJim2020 new Escapes suck. They look like all the others!!
I love these fird escape suv I never owned one but I want one now
I have a 4X4 XLT escape and all I do is fly around corners and let the tires squeal. It's so fun driving around with 200 hp.
Del 2002 al 2004 la Escape fue la mejor con su V6 porque tiene arranque y en traccion 4 x 4 es de lo mejor de la FORD en cuanto dunas y lodo
Wich one you guys recomend to buy, a Ford Escape 3.0 model 2004 or a Chevy Trailblazer 4.2 model 2004?
I agree. I have a '97 XLT that drives like it is brand new. Same for my mom's escape, which has 113k. Although she did have a Windstar that crapped out at only about 140k. But that was the only Ford in our family that died young.
Junk they never made these in 97
Excellent ride! I wonder how you can drive those nice cars for free? ;) Thanks for uploading!
What's the creeking noise
the 6 was standard on limited and i think also on the XLT models
I have 2005 Ford Escape, Model TA-EP3WF bought in Japan. Unfortunate in July this year I got an accident and the engine stopped. I send the vehicle to the dealer and they asked me the Chassis number which is EP3WF102399 according to the card of the vehicle. But the dealer insist that it should have 14 digits so that they can feed the system to know what is wrong with the engine. Could someone assist me or verify that chassis number should have 14 digits?
These suvs as well as the mazda tribute lx and es have a great radio systems
At 7:13, the Escape turns over 94K
i currently own this exact same car in Green XLT trim. boring to drive, IMO. I am planning on selling it and buying a Honda Cr-v (96-01) due to the reliability and excellent gas mileage, and being a working high school student this is more than an attractive feature to me. all winter long this thing runs at a different pitch every morning. a few problems im having are that my starter misses teeth every other start, my Gas tank supports Disconnected after filling it one day, both driver and passenger side quarter panels shot out surface rust faster than i could get money to deal with it LOL. in my opinion, this is the BOTTOM OF THE BARREL when it comes to Ford. not to mention this thing has no power. For the first 2 months i loved it, then the past year i hated it...
@1964mm probably to check out the steering and see how well it handles.
After 2004, Ford upgraded the interior of the Escape's. I have a 2005 and mine only makes that cracking sound when I put it in reverse.
Matt Frangella Interiors are identical... just has a different shifter and cluster.
i cant wait to drive mines its sitting in the driveway waiting for my licence
PinkJoseCuervo you still driving it dog
You still driving it?
I've noticed that my grandparnt's 01 ford escape does the same creaking, but it didnt seem to do it as much as this one though.
My 05 Hybrid creaks. It's just part of their character!!
North Carolina B gettin some snow 4 real.
i think it mighta beeen his camera mount.
the way you can tell on mazda tributes on where they were built( not sure about escapes) the colum shifters are japanese.
Dealership.can make new escapes.this year ? Or no ?
My dad had a 2008 Ford Escape and it always sounded like this on the inside
nice one thanks
I like the Ford escape
Eric Avila Me too. I actually drive one, except mine is a 2016 Escape. I like any Escape regardless if it’s from 2001-04, 2005-12 or a 2013-present.
nice suv man!

Definitely. Especially the wee-little 4bangers that come in them. They seem so rugged looking.. The passat of SUV's.. hehe
I want this so bad!

i have a 2005 ford escape
What I want to know is how does handle on the highway doing about 70 mph for a few miles?
@xavier1519 That sounds to me like interior panles were taken off at one point for a mod or repair or something and never put back on correctly. Ive been in a few of these things, never once did they creek like that.
Per il piccolo coro dell'Antoniano del 2003 durante piccolo coro dell'Antoniano manca
I think it was maybe the tires because there is a lot of road noise. :/ i dont know
It's a little bit creaky..That's ok most cars from the era do have a few annoying noises. My 02 does.

Brice Graham Escape*
Brice Graham But the eclipse is cooler
Squeaks like an old bed
My 2005 hybrid squeaks but not that much.
2009 Mercury Mariner.
it is so hard to reach the alternator for changing if the engine V6.... I hard a hard time to replace the alternator on my escape 2004
It's stupid designing
We are going to the house.
WHERE DID YOU BOUGHT THAT GRILLE ????! Let me know I wanna buy it TY!
our ford escape 2004 does have Lcd touchscreen on it. why this one doesnt have?
LadyGagaTwiceiKonSLAY B. Somebody probably put an aftermarket in your escape, unless it was special-ordered from ford ,which I don’t know if it was an option back in 04’
@@MrSlicktherick aftermarket
2003 Mercury Mariner
never getting another ford or mazda, have the sister of this car (mazda tribute same year) . soooo many electrical issues, you name it it has been replaced. i love the look and the power but the durability is crap. the creaking is the rear shocks by the way i recognize it, had to replace mine twice.
How good is it on gas?

it was like the steering wheel the creaking
Hey. Can you do a video with the FORD ESCAPE 2012 please? thanks and nice channel
Is it me, or does it seem like you have to push it hard just to go anywhere..... 🤔
The I4 has needs a little encouragement but if you push down the gas pedal, it'll definitely move. I travel a lot on the highway in my 07' I4, and it definitely has the power to pass people, but you can't be scared to let it sit in the high RPM's when you do it.

you test driving the radio? wtf

I just realized that this doesn't have AWD. Who the hell buys a 2 wheel drive Escape? Especially in that area of the US.
David Nameless it could have been from another state before it was sold there.
David Nameless thankfully my 05 escape was 4x4 lol
David Janitschek its in North Carolina
Nick Nichols I know but like the escape could have been sold brand new in another state where there is no snow
that snow can cause to crash

I like the explorers better. I don't know why, they're both crap. My dad had a 99 ford explorer and two of the pistons wouldn't fire. What a weird car. It still felt manlier than this car I guess. This car just feels a little feminine to me. Not very "ford tough" if you ask me.
