I think I've just about recovered from the long drive, hours of paddling and then attempting to sleep on a deflated airbed 😅. Utterly worth it to paddle on the loch for even just a short while on that morning of pure calm and tranquility. Beautiful documentation of the midge invested adventure 👍

I absolutely salute your sir. I live in a tropical country and have many tiny islands/sea-scape opportunity but none of them made me want to go against all the mosquitoes and other bugs to capture. I do believe they will turn out epic giving decent lights but I just hate insects, humid forests and wet jungles/swamp. Those combined are recipe straight to my army PTSDs which reminded me the good life I have(need not to live the jungles every other week). The same goes to every other bird/wild life photographer out there. Your motivation are burning bright as stars.

What a great surprise! Kayaking and camping and amazing photography! This was one of your best adventures since I began watching your videos. Your encounter with midges made me cringe. On Monday I went to a local state park to take advantage of temporary pools of water that are the result of rare showers we've had here in the high desert since June. Everything was glorious. Lots of rare plant life and fields of grass like I've never seen before. I past this large pond heading for the top elevations and took a few shots and saved one of a dead tree for later when the sun would be in a better location. About 4 o'clock I head down to the lower level and change lenses to shoot the tree. As soon as I place my bag on the path, an army of fire ants gather and a swarm of mosquitos yell "Dinner!". I haven't experienced. I zipped up the bag and moved down the path to where I could still get the tree reflected in the water. The ants were gone but my blood sucking friends followed me. Being a true enthusiast and a former resident of Florida I stood my ground, took a few shots while slapping my arms and lived to tell my tale. Now it is Thursday and I still have a few bumps on my left arm to remind me to get those pictures edited for sharing.
