- Today I load up my landscape photography gear, throw it in to my camper van and head out on an overnight adventure. I am blessed with beautiful conditions throughout this photography trip and shoot some lovely scenes. I talk a little about van life and how I use it to further my photography, I cook up some nice food and all in all, I have a fantastic trip out.

I thought the boardwalk leading into the tall grass with the mist and trees in the background at 17:45 would have made a superb composition.
That last image of the rocks and the mountain was outstanding Thomas. The half tree is deffo something you don’t see everyday, but a great image as well.
Yep, that last shot... perfect.
Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
@Wetterhoun I have to agree with you on this, those trees stuck out to me right away. I would go with a tighter square crop with just the bottom three stones and the right most one placed on the golden spiral and a bit less sky (about 1/6th of the frame). I like the other images though and the colors look fantastic!
I said it before on one of your earlier videos. They are spruce trees you are looking at in the first image, not pine trees. They are completely different species. Not all conifers are pines! I love the heather shot. Stunning
Wow what stunning conditions on the lake! Another great vid!
The sheer amount of work you are putting into these video productions is something to be proud of. It looks like you have at times 3 to 4 Cameras following you on your journey.
This is another level, I have to compliment you for that.
I sometimes am a critic but when the person deserves praise I make sure they get mine.
Thank you.
This is hands down the most poetic videos of this kind on youtube. Thank you for making these.
I'll tell ya' Thomas, I have noticed over the years that there are some scenes the video captures that could be the money shot. Another great video.
That last image of the lake it just fantastic. What a view to start your day off with and to end this video with.
I love the first shot. Technical note: the tree is a whole one. It just used to grow at the very edge of the forest, retaining the outside facing branches all the way down (just like the other edge trees that were cut down) and loosing all the other branches (except for the very top) because what's the point of having them when they are shaded by the surrounding trees...
Just thinking about all the work that goes in to these cinematic YT vids. The back and forth, waking/driving away shots and such... I can just imagine you running back and forth for your XT-4. Thanks, really good work. I appreciate the effort!
Yep... he is absolutely the B-Roll king!
That last image is a wall-hanger…very peaceful.
That image at 22.13 secs is absolutely stunning! WOW blew me away, honestly!
Half tree is wonderful shot. Not only do you have the trees on the left but you capture the movement down the hill.
“This morning hasn’t been too bad…..” in conditions I only dream about!
Last image was just amazing the clouds infront of the mountain are so beautifull.
Really love these fairly long videos its 24 minutes of amazing peaceful photography !
keep up the vids!
9:23 Oh my god I love that shot.
Greetings from Russia! I like your trip-videos and photos. They are inspiring. Thanks! In this video, the photos with heather and cobwebs and a fallen tree are the best.
That last minimalistic photo is just incredible! Thanks for sharing....
The webs you can cheat a little by doing a very slow shutterspeed low iso and using your mobile phone torch, wiz it round in circles to avoid flash like light. Catches the drops in a rainbow sometimes if your lucky. And then the last two landscapes ..... pffffffff .... 🥺😍 jaw droppingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing Thomas.
i was absolutely convinced that you were going to do a minimalist pano across that lake! Great shots.
Wow Thomas, almost at 500k. I've been a subsciber since the start almost and what a journey it's been. Any news on the antarctic strip that was supposed to be happening this year? Still going ahead?
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... First thing I noticed is that your van seems to be way cleaner than in a recent video! 😉 I have to say that that last image is PERFECT! (despite not having the ducks/loons in it)
It's so refreshing to watch a RUclips video where the presenter just switches the camera off rather than putting their hand on the lens and making a whooshing noise. Bravo! Love that little van too!
The slope behind the half tree was a plus. Wonderful photo.
wow.. the possibilities with that fence and reflections in the water at the distant fog bank/mountains at the 18:30 mark... wow wow wow...
There's a fabulous half-tree on the Dolgellau Panorama Walk with views of the Welsh coast and a distant Barmouth with Cader Idris too... Great potential if not there in the middle of a baking August day!
all of it. the photographs! the lake. the conditions. the van bits, the food bit, the teacherly bits, the compositions, the duration. the umbrella. ☺️ what a marvel. 🙏🏼
Your videos are put together so smooth I don't know if anyone realizes the amount of times you must move the camera then go back and repeat a walking shot. We appreciate it, the attention to detail and the amazing photography.
Those ducks moving across the frame at the end is just so serene. Beautiful :)
I love these calm, cozy videos! Thanks a lot Thomas!
Great vlog yet again Thomas, those still conditions are just lovely....and some great shots
Loved that location. The peaceful lake and the ducks. I could watch forever. Thanks Tom!
Four stunning shots Thomas. Really loved the spiderweb one and that last one.
simply beautiful images...a stunning video Thomas!
Really enjoyed the video. The early morning shoot on the lake is technically pretty much perfect a great composition. Life in the van is always a great experience and all of this is produced by your good self. Cracking stuff.
Peaceful. Superb.
Glad you didn't back over your B-roll camera when you went back to retrieve it leaving the car park at 17:25 !
Who can't resist a "cheeky little portfolio" shot 👍😲👍 face it, your just a square 🤣🤣🤣 really like the last image 👍😎👍
The ducks wanted to be in your next composition. The lake shots were peaceful and serene. Someday I’ll live near a lake again.
That last shot with the four rocks and the mist/hill/lake mirrored reflection is really great - fantastic - many thanks!
I have to say the opening 30 seconds B ROLL from 1 man is pretty impressive and some high quality production. Drone following the van and 3 different camera angles. You really are a master of your craft Thomas.
Stunning moment... 👍
Love it!
Lovely, calming, delightful. Thx, Thomas. 👍🦘🇦🇺
Thanks Thomas! Great video!
Great photos. Can't wait to move into my camper van full time so I can travel and practice more landscape photography. Thanks so much for all the inspiration.
Beautiful images, as always, Thomas!
In the half a tree image, I loved how the tree line of the pines in the distance sort rose to fill the void created by the missing half of the tree. Gave wonderful balance to to the image!
Your half tree shot is wonderful. I love the way the smaller pine leads to you main subject and then the pines beyond. Superb.
Thanks for taking us with you.....
Love how you were whispering at the end there in tune with the serenity of the place. Those mornings make it all worthwhile...and...I think someone should get a macro?
OMG just stunning. Thank you for sharing
What a beautiful morning to bear witness to, a great way to start the day. Loved the images from the morning shoot as well as the tree in the mist image from the day before. As always Thomas you also ensure the b-roll fits the narrative perfectly and that always stands out when watching your videos. Hope you had a great canoeing trip in Scotland
I very like the composition with the half tree and cut of the tree on the left side of the image, wich has the same siluet as the half tree.
Great video. I love watching these!
Love your videos. Look forward to them each week.
Love the lake shot with the mountain and mist. ❤
Back to the roots, love it... Excellent video and photos.
Beautiful cool tranquil shots Tom, what a stunning spot. Definitely agree sunrises for me are dreamy
Second to last one my is right down my alley. Love it
Great video, stunning pictures and fantastic scenery. 👍
Holy mother of god, that view up the lake is just stunning, it rounded off a great video superbly.
Fantastic video for us again. 👍👍👍 I love the half a tree shot - the little mini tree at the front makes it for me. 👍👍👍👍👍
That last photo is so simple and beautiful
Love the trees with the mist, just freaking awesome!
Half pine = full picture. Nice composition and atmosphere¡¡
Just started to watch. Thanks for showing a new video of your travels. Crikey you have found a shot, so soon. Unusual for you Thomas.
I feel so calm watching his videos... Idk why. ♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful final image, as you say perfect conditions 👍
Thank you Thomas!
I need to be taken outside of the norm for a bit. The calm photos really helped me be at peace today.
What a beautiful last image, just perfect!
Very successful trip. Very lovely images.
both the lake shot and the van were stunning . great work , great vid thanks .
Loved the lake with the long white cloud. Reminded me of New Zealand! Beautiful shots, thanks!
Just love the last photo. Beautiful comp!
You are a steady person. We can be sure at the beginning of any video about the quality of your work. Really inspiring.
Brilliant video, very instructive and some fantastic scenery. Thank you Thomas.👍
Great to see you in one of my favourite places, Derwentwater, Manesty Woods. That alone was worth watching this video for, spent many years wandering around there with my Lab.
From the bottom of my heart: Thank you!
Wonderful video. Love all the images but the last was my favorite.
Lovely images Tom. The half a tree was excellent. Brilliant and honest video as always. 👌😀
Great video Thomas, thanks for sharing.
Love that last picture, thanks for the video
Great Video, Love the 1/2 tree ay 05.27. The spider web at 08:56 is Brilliant. a great late afternoon. The Fallen Tree at 19:26 is Beautiful, The rocks at 22.27 was the best shot of the vlog, loved the use of the cloud. thanks for sharing
Thanks, Tom. I loved this video. That last image was outstanding.
Another excellent video of your photography adventures! I am so envious of your van and photography!
Those ducks in the frame at 20:57 would have been an amazing addition to the scene.
Love your videos! Have learned a lot today!! Love the last image!
Very nice!!! Thanks
There are many of your photos that I would feel are worth purchasing, but this one, the last one in this video, is at the top of my list. The symmetry and contrasting line of the boulders make a phenomenal image.
“Absolutely stunning!”
That lake was like glass! What a beautiful vista to wake up to.
Ahhh Thomas Heaton... You make my currently crappy life, infinitely more tolerable.
The videos always calm me down, make me smile, and remind me, there's more and it won't always be like this... and for that I thank you very much.
Thanks for another great video Thomas. I've been watching your channel along with Simon Booth's channel and it's really helped me open my eyes to finding alternative images to the big vista, epic landscape. Finding those special little intimate scenes that tell a story, macro captures that take you to a different place that you'd never know existed. It's nice to open up the potential for more and more images rather than turn around and go home due to what Adam calls "No light" (even though he always takes an amazing shot in 'no light'). Great stuff!
Always enjoy your fine photos and presentation. And thanks for the camera settings.
I recently found you! And love how realistic you are on timing and opportunities when it comes to getting the perfect shot.
Great video as always, stunning photos and really like as a total beginner the explanation and settings behind your photos. Many thanks 😊 👍
We were all right there with you on this morning shoot . . . thanks for taking us with you!
Great video, amazing images
Looks like "glorious" is the new "absolutely stunnin'"! 😃 Love that last image; so glad you found a way to use that mist.
Can't beat still misty conditions - provided you have the talent and dedication to exploit them - nice one!
Absolutely love the last lake shot!
