    Ahhhh, how I envy you, Dave! A trip down memory lane from my younger years...
    If I learned ANYTHING from four years in the Coast Guard, and a bunch of years working SAR, it's simply this...while you can lose your fear of Mother Nature, the wise person NEVER loses their respect!
    Cheers, Dave and be careful out there, k?

      Agreed. It's an inverse relationship. More respect, less fear.

    Hi Dave, I have learned so much from your videos and web page. I recently watched your hyperfocal distance video and you mentioned your metering of choice I believe is spot metering. If so, why do you prefer that over matrix metering? Also, my Nikon D5600 doesn't allow me to see the histogram so I'm wondering how to expose to the right without my camera having this feature? Thanks so much

    Dave, I have been throughly enjoying watching and learning from your videos. I have been on your website and I am interested in the Pro plus education option. I looked for a direct email, but it appears that using your comments section is your preferred method of initial contact. Could you please share with me a little bit more what is involved with the image critiques and the download of RAW files (is that us sharing with you are work for comment?). I happen to love in Vancouver (the Canadian one), besides your amazing sounding 3 day workshops, do you offer 1/2 day sessions/workshops (in the field and/or on the computer)? Thanks, please feel free to DM or answer here.

    • @DaveMorrow
      @DaveMorrow  2 года назад

      Hey James, Good to hear from you. You can submit images anytime you like and I'll do image critiques for your images. There is a huge library of image critiques in the school already as well. The RAW files are for all of the photo editing videos in the school. There are 30+ start to finish photo editing videos in there now with more being added consistently. This lets you edit the photos while you learn from the videos.
      Test it out. I have a 90 day money back guarantee. That's the best way to find out if you like it. In regards to workshops, I only do 3 day workshops. Anything less than that and it's hard to make a big impact on teaching someone all of the skills! My email is Support@DaveMorrowPhotography.com if you have questions:)

    Hi Dave. Have been following your photography and tutorials for quite some time. Given your extended wilderness trips, I am curious to know what solar power bank you use to recharge your camera batteries and other electronic devices. Thanks in advance!

    • @DaveMorrow
      @DaveMorrow  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Solar is garbage for charging imo. Too heavy and doesn't work. Battery brick weighs less and always works. Charge overnight in tent.

    I tell you what, Dave: your channel helped me rediscover my love for the outdoors. In the past two years I've done a lot of rock climbing, camping, photography but I've been going crazy because I felt my love for climbing slowly evaporate and I didn't know what the matter was. In the past few weeks, I realized: I was missing the sense of adventure.
    It was always: show up to the crag, climb, then go to an established campsite, sleep, repeat. It all felt like an outdoors climbing gym. But there are so many beautiful and remote places in my country that take a lot of hiking and exploring to get to, virtually untouched by the masses because of how remote they are.
    So I slowly let go of crag climbing and started focusing more on the adventure aspect of things: multi-day hikes, exploration, hiking off the beaten path, navigation, etc. and my love for all things mountain came back with a fervor. Your YT channel isn't the most flashy, trendy, dime-a-dozen photography channel, I like how simplistic and to-the-point it is.

      @DaveMorrow  2 года назад +1

      Love to hear it! Like you said, the adventure is the key. I have the exact same issue if the old adventure gets stale. Thanks man!

    Have you done a lot of warm (i.e., hot!), humid, buggy hiking and camping? I'm asking because that's how it is where I live (Louisiana, south US). Winters are cool, rarely cold but almost always damp to very wet. Summers are hot, hazy, humid, mosquito-y and often very stagnant. It's easy to overheat. Spring and fall are brief and minimal, only quick transitions between hot / humid and cool-coldish / humid.
    Just curious.

    • @DaveMorrow

    Howdy Dave. Two questions as someone who’s been in WA fit four year and finally has a car.
    1) aren’t you worried about car prowlers? Or do you stay away from the big name trails on i90 etc?
    2) permits are hard to obtain. I’m guessing you stick to forest service walk up permits or forest service land dispersed camping?

    Awesome video as always! I know I keep saying that every time, but I love your work. Do you have many problems with ticks on your backpacks in Northern CA and the Cascades in Washington? I'm thinking of using some airline credits next June to come out there. I lived next to Glacier Park for 20 years--in Florida now(BUG city) I'm good with bears, lions,etc. but HATE ticks. Thanks for all you do for us photographers.

    Great video Dave. My family spent two weeks dayhiking in Olympic and near Mt. Rainier arround Memorial Day. Your intro made me feel like I was back there. I hope to actually get back someday.
    A question I have for your next q&a video is about lightning safety. I live in central Georgia and lightning is a possibility every day during the summer. Since we mostly day hike, I try to plan on being off the higher elevations by noon. Are there things I can do to minimize risk while hiking and backpacking? Thanks.

    I couldn’t agree more with the point you made about pushing yourself hard in the wilderness and how relatively easy the rest of life seems. I have a different type of full time job but for me all I need is one long hike and a 3 day solo every couple of months and it keeps everything in perspective.

    With black bears you "fight" back....make noise, wave your arms. Brown bears = lie down. I backpack in the Olympic Natioal Forest and Park and it is rare that I see a black bear. More marmots, eagles, deer and rabbits than bears. Great photography. You've rekindled my photographer spirit. Thank you!

    • @DaveMorrow
      @DaveMorrow  2 года назад

      Dangerous advice. Fighting back is the very last resort. This should never happen if your first steps with dealing with the bear are correct. The goal is to look intimidating, loud, and large while slowly backing away. Bears have horrible sight. You can get a ton of distance between you and it while it's trying to decide what you are. You want to make it appear to the bear that it's a bad idea to come towards you. Once a bear's mind snaps into conflict mode you're in big trouble. Fighting back means all of your other methods failed and the bear is on top of you. Once you get deep into the Olympics it's swimming with bears. Have seen 10 already this year and it's a high snow year in early season. Glad you like the videos!
