Here is my comparison between the BMPCC6K and the BMPCC6K Pro.
Which one would you pick?
Cheers,
Flo
I've never had a Blackmagic camera, so I'll probably dive into 6Kpro as my first. the ND Filters is a feature too strong to ignore.
Not sure if it’s just me, but GEN 5 seems to have a tad bit more noise in the shadow as well.
The number one thing I missed going with the P6k instead of the pro was 4k Braw. Now after the update I'm totally happy. I know I can do it in post but for quick turn around shots and space saving with less data rates it's an option I need sometimes.
Yeah I think a lot of people were waiting for this :) !!
Wich one doesn't do 4k braw?
I didn’t like gen 5 at first but been using it for a while in davinci and I’m used to it now. It’s flatter
It definitely is flatter. I'm sure i'll get used to it :).
when Pro was announced, I remember also announcing a gen 5 color update on every pocket camera but not seen yet.
It was released today :).
@@OfTwoLands wow, good news ty
@@OfTwoLands is your comparison alredy done it in gen 5?
Sorry to bump your video one year later.... I've noticed that you only shoot with ProRes (you never mentioned BRaw in your demonstration footage). My experience colorgrading with Gen5 BRaw files in DaVinci Resolve was immensely satisfying. The first tab in the Color page (the one in the extreme left, the icon is a camera) allows you to access the sensor metadata and adjust it on the fly. Like, you can swap your ISO, white balance, exposure, the color science you want to use, etc. More importantly, this tab allows you to pre-process your raw files. Most of the time, when I'm done reviewing my files in this tab, the color CORRECTION part of my grade is done and I only need to apply my Grading on the other tabs based on the artistic direction of my film. Gen 5, in that respect, is so much better than Gen 4. The skin tones are preserved in a way that I couldn't believe when I first encountered it. All our footage became practically noiseless whatever the ISO we had to work in. I think the issues you're describing are from using Gen 5 on a lossy format such as ProRes, that seals the colors in the file when you're done capturing. BRaw doesn't have that problem. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else in the comments, I hope I'm not duplicating.
high quality content as always! We purchased the 6K Pro and love it!😊
Thank you so much !! Nice, have fun :)
Hey. Coming from Bmpcc4k I hear you on the gen 5. After spending more time with it I do actually like it better. The highlight roll off is improved and it’s helped with the noise in the shadows (on some occasions). I’ve stopped using conversion luts and that seemed to help. Going right Into setting of the clip such group of clips to manually change output then you can push those colors all day.
Great reviews man! I’m deff. Going to upgrade from the Bmpcc4k and have the pro as A cam and keep my 4K on a slider for interviews
Thanks for watching man !! And glad to hear, it is encouraging :).
I agree with your point about gen4 vs gen5. It's a very different starting point for grading. It's also a little harder to expose for it in cam, I've noticed switching to ISO 1250 and above really drastically changes the way the cam handles highlights (looks like it hard clips more of them immediately) Hopefully it's worth getting used to over time, but really not what I expected.
Glad to know I am not the only one haha !! And yeah I think I think it is more about getting used to it but didn't expect that.
@@OfTwoLands same here I thought I was the odd man out thinking that its easier to get results with Gen 4 v Gen 5. Especially when using the pocket 4k.
To your point about iso 1250 and above, that has always been how the iso levels in the bmpcc4k and 6k work. Iso 1250 is the start of the higher gain iso range and clips the highights sooner
Excellent comparison. Given the only real advantage of the pro is the internal NDs, tilt screen and EVF option (not really worried about battery types), I'm now convinced that the upgrade is not worth it for my purposes, and I dread the thought of having to start from scratch with all my custom gradings to adapt to Gen 5 color science. I already have all the other accessories like atomos monitor and vlock, so will just get the 6K instead. Thanks, Helped me immensely.
Same... Idc for the video tilt or the internal NDS ....6k they're basically the same camera
You could shoot a colour chart with the 6k and the 6k pro with all the same settings. You'd be able to see the differences on the vectorscope and analyse what hues may need to be rotated and what hues need their saturation changed to help match the two. What I'm not loving about gen 4 is the over saturation on the red and sometimes blue hues. Many hours spend in the hue vs saturation tool manually pulling back the reds on every clip. I hear gen 5 has improved this issue but I am yet to test it out.
Thanks for the tip. I do agree about the reds in Gen 4. Gen 5 however has an overall different cast to it. I think like everything else it is about practice and habits.
The mountain views were so pretty! xx
They really were, can’t wait for summer :) !! xx
it also made sense for a new user to go for the Pro, because of the accessories that they need to rig the 6K up to be able to use properly, at least to me.
Yeah for sure :)
Would love to shoot weddings with this, hope to move over to bm soon. Thanks for the informative review, quality.
Thanks for watching :) !!
It's not just you with the Gen 5.
I had to completely remake my color grading style again from scratch, none of the power grades I made for Gen 4 looked good on Gen 5, even with tweaking.
Granted, now that I've redone about 10 power grades, I do think I prefer the Gen 5 colors. I haven't tested it, but I bet you're able to push the image further then on Gen 4.
Still, it is allot harder to edit. Reminds me of S-Log.
Any particular reason you prefer to shoot Prores over Braw?
Haha good, thought I was crazy !! And yes it does look to be a more accurate and 'stronger' file so I am sure I will get used to it :).
I shoot prores because I do a lot of licensing work and Prores is the requirement. Also working on Mac within FCPX is super fast with Prores. I've always shot 422 no matter what Blackmagic camera I've used.
Gen 5 looks a lot "flatter" than gen 4 sure colourists will love it, though it will certainly be harder to grade.
Though I see this as a minor inconvenience as you will learn how to make it work and overall the benefits out way the con this is surely their best camera and a true DSLR sized cine camera with no crap interfering with it. Been tempted to swap out my ZCam E2M4 as I am having some difficulty though I am gonna stick with it as I don't have the money really and the modular design is better for me. - internal NDs would be nice though
Great video again Flo, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one
Glad you've enjoyed it man, thanks !!
5 is indeed a lot flatter, which I don't mind. It's more the colour difference that surprised me.
I have always been tempted by the ZCams and their modular design but I just love the Blackmagic image and menus so now with internal NDs it's a pretty sweet deal :).
@@OfTwoLands yeah I can certainly understand it being a bit of a surprise. Also trying to match the two is obviously not going to be that easy until they both shoot the same gen. Can you shoot gen 4 on the pro?
The ZCam is great I actually haven't used it proper all that much, though it's a solid camera and a great company just when you have to wait for parts and they don't work things get annoying. 😂 Though happens with every system.
You’re 1,000% correct, as a colorist, I prefer as flat an image as possible. So I’m totally happy that they went with a flatter profile. The ND filters look like they’re throwing the exposure off in my research. Is it just my imagination or RUclipss comprehension?
Really is comes down to creature comforts when comparing these cameras. We have the 6K, but when we saw the announcement of the 6K Pro and all the "quality of life" upgrades, we bought two of them on the spot haha and sold everything else we had. Ursa Mini, Sony's and the previous 6K Pocket Cam. We shoot everything on 6K Pro's now. Damn near perfect cameras for us.
Haha nice !! It is pretty perfect for sure, hard to beat for what you get for the price. Loving the new ergonomics.
@@OfTwoLands that's the first thing we noticed when we got it in our hands. Feels soooo much better in the hands with the taller grip.
This video was very helpful as I am sitting in the fence between the two cameras. Thank you!
Glad it was :) Thanks for watching!!
This is the best review of these two cameras that I have seen. Thank you very much oh, I think I will go for the Pro sometime in the future. Thank you.
Thanks so much for saying this !! Happy filming :)
Having got the 6k a month before the release of the 6k pro i was more than a little annoyed. I love my 6k but really hate having to rig it up with an external monitor and extra power solutions. The nd’s arent too much of a problem as i have the freewell vnd and they are great. Having this big set up carrying around though makes me sometimes reluctant to use the camera and I honestly prefer to keep as low profile as possible. I think I’m going to trade the 6k in for the pro soon.
Rigging up can be annoying that's for sure !! I love using a low profile camera as well, very useful for certain location. Let me know if you end up getting the Pro :).
@@OfTwoLands if i can get a decent trade in for the 6k toward the pro i will. Unfortunately my usual seller only offered about £1500 for the 6k and a shinobi momitor with two npf batteries, a half cage and a few spare lp6 batteries along with a few other smallrig accessories
@@OfTwoLands well I got the 6k pro having exchanged the 6k with the cave and other bits. It cost me about a £1000 but I really, really think it was worth it. The titling screen is wonderful (an external monitor is no long essential for most shoots i do), the batterylife a great improvement and the internal nd’s are fantastic. They were not an issue before but now i have them i see the appeal. Overall, really happy with it and I don’t feel like its a chore taking the camera out anymore
Thanks for the review - LOVE the blackmagic cameras but hate their ergonomics. Why do they make cameras like a photography camera? Do people actually take photos with the BMPCC? I would love it if they were more camcorder size so you can hold it in your hand.
Thanks for watching !! I actually don't mind their ergonomics, but I know what you mean. To me the Pro is the most comfortable yet.
I was very happy when I found a battery charger in the box of the 6K Gen. 2.
Plugging the camera to the tiny DC inlet was always difficult with my previous 6K (which I had to sell few months ago)
I just upgraded my Pocket 4K to the Gen 5 and to me, it's just better in every way. But it does need a different approach then the Gen 4 when grading. I'd highly reccomend you to shoot in braw instead of the prores. It's much more efficient and robust codec with insane amount of post possibilities (like changing the color science, since it's just metadata).
Do you grade in Resolve?
I need to shoot Prores for work, and have been doing it for 8 years haha so can't just switch to braw. Never felt the need to either :).
I would like a 6k pro
It’s an awesome cam for sure!!
I was jusssssst about to buy a GH6, but here I am looking at the 6K Pro....lol. Don't know what to do ! lol. That internal IBIS on the GH6 is amazing but, seeing you get solid IBIS from the Canon lenses on that body, is helpful... Hmmm.
I guess now you have to make another video AFTER the 7.3 firmware update ;)
Great content man, I stand firm with the 6K for now, but my opinion is that one can’t go wrong with either
Haha not really since it doesn't change the colours/look of the files, it just fixes the screen calibration and adds a few features :). And yes I agree, both amazing cameras !!
Great job to the point!keep it up!
Thank you!!
I think you’ll get used to it. I was disappointed initially but once I got the hang of it. It’s been so smooth I even let go of my 6k. Nice video and thanks for sharing.
I’m sure I will :). Thanks for watching !!
But do you get the same beautiful image as the 6k
Great and informative video as always! I was wondering if you knew whether or not the 7.3 camera update enables 4K BRAW on the blackmagic 6k (base model)?
Thanks a lot !! Not sure actually, I haven't updated my 6k since I want to keep the Gen 4 haha.
How do you feel about the BMPCC4K at this time? Do you think it's still a worthwhile purchase at the much lower price point or do you feel that the 6K/Pro have improved enough that they're more than worthy of the extra investment? I have a preference for my EF lenses and the 6K Pro's ND filters, tiltable screen and battery life seem like substantial improvements, but I still don't think there's a cheaper or more versatile option than the 4K with the Lumix 12-35 and I doubt I'll be shooting higher than ProRes 4k often anyway.
I still love the bmpcc4k and to me it is an amazing camera for the price and size. The 4k + Lumix 12-35 is the best and most versatile combo I have ever used !! I think whether or not to get the Pro it depends on the features you need and work you do. If you absolutely need a tiltable screen and NDs then Pro. If you don't need those and don't have EF lenses then 4K for sure. I never shoot 6K for example :).
@@OfTwoLands Thank you, that's very helpful! I don't think I'll be shooting 6K and tiltable screens and NDs would be nice but not mandatory so I think that answers that :)
When I moved from old 1990s studio monitor technology to ones designed in the 2010s (for mixing music), it took me about a year of making objectively worse mixes before I figured out how to mix on them. Now my mixes are amazing, and so much better than anything I could've mixed on the older monitors. I think the same could be said with going from Gen 4 to Gen 5 with visual grading/mastering. It'll probably take time to get used to it, figuring out the best way to get the most when grading footage.
On that note, have you improved in grading footage taken with the 6K Pro? I notice this video is 1 year old. :)
Love your videos, very inspirational!!!
Thanks so much, means a lot !!
Before I pull the trigger of reinvesting in Black Magic ( I used to have the original pocket) I'm wondering if BM will update the 4k version to tilt screen & better batteries ? I hope so !!
I hope so as well, that would be the best camera out there for sure !!
@@OfTwoLands I can say for sure they are not considering (or, at least, there is no plan) to update the 4k camera hardware or release a new version. That's from R&D at BM in Australia. Made me sad, as I now have to consider whether I shift from MFT to EF lenses and get stuck shooting 6K files where I'm not interested in shooting above 4k really, and would have to also up my data storage and cards... it is giving me some anxiety, but at the moment I'm sticking with the 4k. Lets see what today's updates bring :)
Thanks for all you do sir :)
@@timrober75 well?
@@bmefilms6879 good question... not updated the camera yet... you?
@@timrober75 yes. I haven't shot with the 4k yet to see if gen 5 makes it better. The internal ND'S on the 6k pro makes a world of difference for me. I dont know that I care to put nd & ir cut on a camera with a speed booster ever again.
still prefer gen4 over gen5? Is the p6k still worth picking up since its cheaper than the 6kpro & i already have a monitor, titan base battery & nisi vnd/ircut filters. Does the image hold up?
upgraded to 7.3 version. gen 5 colors and 4k braw shoot option. full HD braw with full sensor scan could be nicer
An other great video !
In my opinion, the gen 5 looks much more uncontrasted than the gen 4 so you must overexpose the gen 5 and not the gen 4 to compare them. I think Blackmagic just removed the green/yellow tint in the gen 5.
Thank you !! Yes it is a lot flatter. The funny thing is that Gen 5 looks a lot 'brighter' than Gen 4 overall. Even with the same value and settings it is much more towards the highlights.
@@OfTwoLands That's strange, I'd say the reverse after seen your test...
the harsh and clipping red channel is the biggest difference.
It is quite funny to me that you released a video talking about Gen 4 versus Gen 5 on the very day that Blackmagic released Gen 5 for the Pocket 4K and Pocket 6K, hah.
That should make your grading much easier, though, as now they'll match perfectly!
Haha yeah they released the update literally hours before my scheduled video.
I didn’t upgrade my 6K, definitely want to keep Gen 4 for now :).
Thank you for this video! Super informative. I’ve been debating getting one of these as a B cine solution. Thinking the Pro may just be worth the investment.
Thanks for watching !! In most cases I think people will choose the Pro :).
Thanks for the video. A couple of questions if you don't mind. What is your recording media? Internal only SD cards I guess? I'm thinking the Pro won't accomodate an SSD easily if it has an EVF attached. The mount at the top will be obstructed. It would have to have a cage in order to mount an SSD then, but that make an already massive camera even bigger. The second question concerns the ND filters. Since you are shooting outside a lot, do you find it's enough to have 6 stops for your Sigma? It must be enough for the Canon 16-35mm f4 but probably not enough for the Sigma 18-35mm if you want to shoot wide open. I find that to be the case. I do need maybe 8 stops if I shoot a fast lens wide open (not that I often do that outside but sometimes I do). Thanks for any feedback. As usual your practical take is appreciated.
Great video as always, mate! Interesting statement about Gen5, I still have not updated the firmware on my 6k, just yet, it would be interesting to see if I find it more difficult to grade or something.
Thanks !! Let me know how you go :)
@@OfTwoLands Sure! :D
Thanks for the review! Which BRAW flavour do You shoot with for Gen 5? It could be that You need more colour info for Gen 5 to grade it.
Thank you for watching !! I actually shoot Prores :).
Thx for the video but why did you kept the regular 6K's cage ?
You should've drop it to let us figure correctly some comparison points you mentioned (like dimension and so on...)
Thanks for the review, Just curious what Matt box you use?
Thanks for watching !! I use both the Smallrig and Tilta Mini :).
I plan on pairing it with my lumix GH7 where the p6k will be my a cam and my GH7 be the hybrid b cam. My main cameras are a pair of red komodos 6k but I DO NOT need them for every job lol Lumix FF image quality in the s5ii does not impress and I find the GH7 to have a more organic look than my old S1H did. So I am wanting an a cam to my GH7 that has a beautiful image without costing a lot lol is the p6k still a good buy, save up for the 6kpro or is the 6kFF just far better than both? Thanks!
Really good review, as always. Thanks very much for the insights.
Can you tell me please what the name of your camera strap is (time in approx 1.11) It looks nice and sturdy and so much stronger than the one i currently use.
I only downloaded the Gen5 today onto my 4k. Will pop my results here when i have them.
Once again cheers for teh great content.
PS: Would love to know if the new Software update has solved the Blue tint issue for you.
Thanks a lot !! The strap is the Peak Design one (link in description), I love it :).
And yes the blue tint is 'fixed', still not 100% but the controls to adjust are great and it matches my Smallhd pretty well.
@@OfTwoLands Thanks for this.
The issue with the tint was holding me bk from getting this camera. Will probably go ahead and get one now.
I've heard the colour shift on the ND's isn't too bad either.
Thanks for the quick response. Am grateful.
Stay well.
Merci for your review! I was wondering which SmallHD monitor are you using? And how do you power it?
Thanks :) !! It is the SmallHD Focus 7 and I use NPF batteries.
@@OfTwoLands for a full day of shooting (around 7hrs), how many batteries do you think you need?
I agree about gen4 vs gen5 .. Gen 5 seems to have like "Fog" very hard to color grade for me. is it posible to buy the 6KPRO with Gen 4??? or "downgrade" ?
Nice video. I have 6K Pro version for a one week already. I'm having trouble to find nice free lut. Can you suggest one, or two? :) BTW, I also think gen 4 have more nicer look.
Thanks for watching !! I actually don't use luts. Maybe if enough people prefer Gen4 they will include the option to toggle in camera haha :).
Great review dude, the 6k pro looks to be really good !
Thanks for watching :) !!
Thank You! 🙏
Lovely video! Just had a question about the NiSi VND you use with the P6K before this:
I was looking at the NiSi 5-9 stop one and I'm curious how you think yours performs (since you use the 1.5-6 stop one). Solid ND's would be ideal but the convenience factor is pretty big. Have you had IR pollution issues and any weird issues with skin reflections being removed with the NiSi VND on your pocket 6K?
Thanks!
Thank you !! So far I haven't had any weird issues with skin reflections. The only thing I noticed is that when facing extremely harsh sun directly you can have sone funky flares depending on the lens you have it on. Only happened twice and as I said it was very very bright and pointing directly at the sun. Overall it's a pretty solid VND :).
@@OfTwoLands wonderful, thank you so much :)
Your style is a huge inspiration, hope to shoot as good as you do one day! Any tips for walking smoothly? I’ve got my XT3 rigged up similar to your doc rig but I can’t seem to move nearly as smooth as you haha
I'm really curious how you deal with IR filters for the BMPC's? I just worked on a shoot whereas anytime we shot outside we were using a bulky IR filter to contain the color shifts. The last few videos I've seen of yours I didnt notice an additional filter besides the ND.
I have never really had any issues with IR pollution with my bmpccs but when I know the footage is critical I use my set of NISI IRND cinema filters :).
Great video as always Florent! I noticed you have the NiSi variable ND in your kit, have you been happy with it?
Thanks a lot !! Yes I do like it, very useful and nicely built too :).
@@OfTwoLands Glad to hear, thanks for getting back to me so quick!
Hi, Constant Bitrate or Constant Quality? In which format do you usually shoot ? Thanks
Hey. I shoot Prores 422 90% of the time :).
is the 6k pro good for nexflix
I don't think it is approved yet.
I updated my 6k pro last night to version 7.3 and it is amazing. I use the sigma 18-35mm art lens f1.8. After the update my sigma goes to f1.7! It look unbelievable at night!!!
nothing changed from what you actually see. my sigma lenses have been saying 1.7 since I got my first 6k
Yes mine too, always showed 1.7 for some reason :)
It's interesting.. maybe if you would have started with the 6k pro first... it may be easier to adapt to... I'm pretty used to color grading now with the pro... but have no experience with another type of bmpcc ... interesting though
Do your lenses have image stabilization? I find it incredibly hard to get smooth shots like at 6:45 handheld with the 4k (cage + side handle) + non-stabilized lens. Might try the strap option though.
Yes, all my Canon do. Only my Sigma and vintage glass don't. I have made a video about shooting handheld which can probably help :).
@@OfTwoLands Yeah, that's how I found your channel on the first place. Unfortunately it's no match for Leica R glass and as many points of contact I can muster, still need stabilizer. 😂
Do you ever had any issues with setting the white balance on th pocket i feel it is always a to the green side when setting the correct balance. In pro ress 422 do you have any advise on this? 🙏🏾✨ Thanks so much again great video really helpful
Questions: For the regular 6k is there any overheating at 4k 60fps? Also, how long will it shoot for via battery life? Thanks so much!!
I had this fear about Gen5 too but I think it concerns a lot people who use ProRes where some Luts can become quite ungrateful even if they are adapted to the Gen5. I feel like that on Gen5 Davinci Resolve users are quite privileged. What I would like to see is an update with proResRaw. It seems that the PRO is more hand held hence it requires CF card to take the best out of it maybe ?
The new firmware is out now to fix all the pocket 6k pro bugs including new peaking to work better with gen5
I have done the update this morning :)
@@OfTwoLands what about the blue tint on the screen I heard people discovered?
@@leosylver7 fixed. There’s now a screen calibration option that lets you adjust it and fix. It was all a software issue ive been saying it since the launch but nobody believed me at first lol. What made it obvious to was that all the text info onscreen stayed pure white no matter the screen tint.
I was one of the luckier ones that didn’t have a blue tint issue at all on mine!
@@leosylver7 ruclips.net/video/_p8VCy6jji4/видео.html
Its not a software issue but the screen was not accurate and require additional measure to help neutralise. My Pocket 6k Pro is also perfect and don't need to change on ver 7.3. However my Pocket 4k has obviouse green tint and although ver 7.3 helps a lot by moving the tint all the way to magenta it was still not quite enough and would need at least another 10% more magenta. Its a hardware issue, the software are just to help retune.
Small detail: the original 6k has one advantage over 6k pro as it can install the lucadapter magic booster. I can confirm it works quite well and decreases crop factor to about 1.18 (slightly better than BMPCC 4K with Metabones XL) and much closer to a large format cine cam ^^ though you don’t get the extra XLR, viewfinder, and excellent bright tilting screen, you do technically have the ability to get superior image quality from that booster combo
The booster does not give you superior image quality just a wider field of view. In fact, the booster adds a cyan color shift that I do not like and that’s why ultimately I passed on it
How do you handle interview sound with either BMPCC 6K?
Gen5 looks somewhat vague and less green(?). It has more blue(?)...
great video xDDD
But I have still some questions as it's pretty hard to choose between the 6k and 6k pro haha. I've never had a video camera, so I'm somehow afraid that it will be too heavy with the Pocket 6k Pro (1.2 kg DJI Rs 2 stabilizer, 800g Sigma 18-35 mm, 1.2 kg Pocket 6k Pro, and another battery or SSD.) Do you think that could be the case? Especially when you e.g. film the whole day or when you travel and still have a drone. I also wonder if the 6k Pro's "tilting screen" is really necessary? (I filmed with the Gopro and the cell phone on a stabilizer and never really had any problems, even when I walked very close to the floor. Maybe it's different with the camera, as many 6k users said it is necessary). Buying one later would make less sense, as it costs more and is perhaps even more uncomfortable if you use the stabilizer and fix a "DJI 3D focus system" / microphone on the "head" of the camera. I've already looked a bit on the internet and apparently the 6k Pro fits on the RS 2, but it's not yet entirely clear to me whether that's really true. I have one last question then I say more than thank you; Do you actually need nd filters a lot in filmmaking?
thxx
Thanks!!!
Hey Florent! Great video! Is the difference you're also seeing in gen4/5 maybe due to the internal NDs on the pro? The NDs on mine cause quite a color shift towards blue/magenta. Do you think that could possibly be it?
Hey man, thanks !! It could be but I haven’t noticed any major colour shift so far though. I definitely need to do more tests. A lot of the tests I’ve done were without internals though, I’ve shot indoor too and the difference is still important.
Hey thanks dor all the infomation, just have a tiny question related to an old video
i have the bmpcc4k and want to buy a small gimbal does the weebil s
works on it?
No worries !! Yes the Weebill S works for the BMPCC4K :). I even used my 6K on it but the 4K works better.
@@OfTwoLands Thanks for the reply )
How about the audio? Can You tell if there's any difference?
Not that I can notice in terms of quality but you do have dual mini xlr input on the Pro.
Thinking about buying the 6K Pro. Are you using a cage at the moment? Is it the smallrig one? Do you recommend it?
I use the Smallrig, yes. It's good. Not a huge fan of the bottom compared to the regular 6k one but does the job and great value :).
@@OfTwoLands thanks for answering! :D Another quick question - can you still use the external battery you were using with the 6K and/or the 6K Pro battery grip or did you have to find another solution?
Wondering if you’ve since updated the 6K to Gen5? I updated my 4K to Gen5 recently and also felt I had to alter my colour workflow mbut now I think I prefer it
No haha, still on Gen 4 and will stay on Gen 4 for as long as possible :).
Do U need to add mics?
For professional work, yes.
@@OfTwoLands can u advise some?
One things is for sure: Our pockets are getting more and more ginormous...
Yep 😅😂
Do you prefer using your Nisi IRND filters with a matte box or will you start to use the internal nd's instead?
I prefer to use internals when I can since it is much more convenient and less time consuming but if I can have the time I prefer the NISI ones for pure quality.
still happy with my 4k here :D. not a fan of EF mount otherwise i would have probably gone out and bought the Pro
What are those black and red plastic circles hanging where a camera strap attaches?
I think I figured out that they are quick release for Peak design camera strap or similar.
Yeah sorry for the late reply. They’re the anchors for my peak design straps :).
after the update, 6k has gen5 as well.
I still haven't updated mine haha
@@OfTwoLands update it, it has gyro stabilization and Gen 5.
Interessante 👏👏👏
Thanks!!

Been literally the same line for the past 2 years haha.
I prefer gen 5, you just need to learn how to grade it, if you do then it's actually faster to grade gen5 :)
I am sure I can get close, just surprising to have to re learn to grade with a camera/colour profile that I have been working with for years :).
@@OfTwoLands I understand because on my previous camera that I worked for 5 years I didn't even have log profile only flat pp so I couldn't use to how much contrast I have to add :D
great video
Thanks ☺️
Nice video.
The 6K Pro seems like an easy decision for people with steady professional work - but I think it may be hard for more prosumer customers to justify selling the 6K to get the Pro. I'm unsure of how much the P6K with a cage would sell for - few hundred under the camera's MSRP at the least right?
I think Prosumer would get the 4K honestly unless they have Canon lenses. But yes I guess, no reason to upgrade if it's not a work camera. For professionals it's more about the kind of shoots you're doing and the gear you already own of course. Not sure about resale value, depends on location too. They are amazing value so won't lose much :).
for a run and gun filmmaker the pro is by far a better choice. i just grab my rig out of the box hook the lens and drop in a battery and im ready to go
FW 3.7 is out all model will be the same generation.
I haven't updated my regular 6K to 7.3 so I can keep Gen 4 :).
