I slightly disagree with the image quality. Having used both, I feel like the Pyxis has a slightly more clinical look, while the 6k Pro has a little more of that film magic. It's not a huge difference, but I did notice this
@@leebrandt8597 Thanks for sharing! I love the look of both and with grading I find I get similar results. But I do prefer the depth and immersive feeling of the full frame sensor :).

Been looking forward to this video as I have the 6k pro and the 4k. The 4K’s ability to shoot 4K braw without a crop gives it an edge for me as the only way to shoot full sensor 4k on the pocket 6k pro is in ProRes, but that produces way bigger file sizes (pretty much 50 gigs more over a one hour period when comparing 422LT and Braw 12:1). I still live in Super 35 world basically, so the ability to shoot 4k braw on the Pyxis entices me
i can see from this video, Having the functionality of both cameras together is pretty amazing,. between the two of them many use cases they can address. This includes broad functionality as well as a form factor pleasing to clients.
Awesome content bro! Subscribed. Had one quick thought though, not sure if you used the same lens on the rolling shutter test but it looks like the PYXIS was shot at a longer focal length because it is zoomed in compared to the 6K Pro. Rolling shutter will appear worse on longer focal lengths, so that could be why it seems worse on PYXIS. It is in fact worse when comparing open gate, but if you compare 16:9 6K they are almost identical readout speeds it appears
Thanks mate! I actually shot with the same lens and also with similar field of view. Was pretty much the same. I chose to include the one that was closest in term of framing for the sake of the video's ratio.
Great video! I do wonder how the Pyxis compares to the Ursas (the older ones). Like the 4.6K G2, 12K and Broadcast G2 using EF or PL mount since I haven't seen many documentarians use B4 lenses.
Thanks!! I had the UMP 4.6 and used the 12k. Personally I think they’re aimed at different style and production sizes. The Pyxis can be super minimal or fully rigged up so it is more versatile in my opinion. But it lacking NDs and high frame rates. The image is always great on BM cameras.
Great presentation as usual Flo. if possible can you do a side by side comparison with both ff cameras with the same lens, same view same everything especially camera placement. Not side by side or anything like that. Simply exact same cameras location. It seems to me that the bmcc6k ff is a tad wider. I know you touched on this before on your first comparison video but I've seen other tests and I could be wrong' to me it looks like the bmff is wider? Thanks again for the work you put in Flo
Bmpcc6k pro, filtre IR obligatoire sur l'objectif. Les ND interne ne sont pas fait pour. Je ne comprendrai jamais que personne le mentionne. Sinon ça fait des images de grand malades. Mais filtre IR.
I would say that the Pyxis cropped to s35 is BETTER rolling shutter than the 6k Pro. I often shoot with an APS-C lens on my 6k FF for better handheld movements
I have two 6KPros - Pyxis just doesn’t do it for me after watching this - ND’s - Two XLRs - No Need for another Monitor - ProRes Recording - My clients never need anamorphic deliveries so who cares about that
Here is a comparison between the new Blackmagic Pyxis 6K and the BMPCC6K Pro.
Which one would you pick and why?
Cheers,
Flo

The 4K Options on the Pyxis really are useful! I personally like the ability to shoot in 16x9 BRAW too.
Cinema6K FF owner here, but I always enjoy your videos and learn something.
Thanks for the kind feedback!!
Amazing comparison, Flo!
Thank you guys ☺️🙏
Great review mate. When you’re rigging the Pyxis with external batteries are you still using a small internal battery so you can hot swap?
Thanks!! Not at the moment. I either use bpus or v lock. But I might do that on long shoots!

Indeed :)
Great stuff, please do a comparison between the Ursa and the Pyxis!
Thanks!! I should get my hands on the Ursa Cine 12K asap :)
Thanks for another excellent video. Of course another great selling point for either camera is the included licence for Davinci Resolve Studio.
Thanks mate, and yes totally!!
Très claire comme d'habitude, je mets un comm juste pour le référencement :)

Both FF cameras would be identical in terms of FOV, but I'll keep that in mind :)
Great comparison! Thanks! :)

Ca dépend des conditions et des objectifs. J’ai filmé pas mal de projects avec les nd internes et ça passe ☺️👍
I love your content so much. Is there any way you can do a Pyxis nd/vnd set up breakdown?
Thank you!! I’ve only used the NISI Swift system on the Pyxis so far ☺️
they are both beautiful. Very beautiful
Indeed 🤩
Would the 6k pro be a good 2nd camera on an interview shoot? If I purchased the canon pyxis?
I know this is a good man because he's getting his kids into Anime young 🖖🖖
@@MightyMigi 😂😂 Of course!!

Thanks for watching ☺️🙏
In your opinion is is worth it to invest in the rawlite olpf for the 6k pro?
I personally wouldn’t but that’s just me :)
OLPF Filter? this camera needs an after market filter?
The 6K Pro can also be bought used for 1900 USD.
Yes, crazy good value!
I would add, that the electronic NDs can fail over time. I had two P6kPro’s start to wig out on me
I got mines for $1200 last month, people are trying to upgrade do just make them an offer
Please do Pyxis vs Ursa Mini Pro 12K next?
@@mrandrewappel I don’t have the Ursa mini pro 12k at the moment but I should get my hands on the Cine 12k ☺️🤩

Rolling shutter is a deal breaker for me (Motorsport, f1, auto), what a shame because the camera is awesome.

Makes sense!
Nice!
To me the pocket is better. I dont need a box, i want my camera usuable right out the box.
Great that it works for you! I love the Pocket cameras :)

Great that you are happy with the 6K Pro, love that cam :)
Pyxis has no hdmi ports? Not everyone needs sdi. Too bad
Both would have been awesome for sure! You can still use a monitor via the usb c.
Anyone want to buy my P6K Pro? 😅
