I love that the guy who seems like a perfect fit ends up being his worst enemy (though the enmity is not reciprocated), while the man who seems like a terrible companion ends up instantly becoming a close friend.
I also wish to hear him talk more about how he hates Europe and bicycles.
This is how I am. I don't look at people; I value ideas
The other Ron is too community based. Seems like the k8nd of guy in charge of a communist government.

Random friendships between people who seem like polar opposites but have a few core common interests (like sh*t talking Eurotrash) always make for some great interactions and even greater bonds.

For all that Ron hates people, and despises friendship, he certain knows how to cultivate some exceptional workplace proximity acquaintances who actually care for him...
His appreciation is simply more valuable
i think it's simply that he's himself and she appreciates his genuineness and ignores his standoffishness
I'm sure that he'd explain it in simple Darwinistic terms. "Those people who've earned my friendship proved their strength by swimming against the current of insults like the strongest salmon swimming upstream to win the prize." (Admit it, you heard it in Ron's voice, didn't you?

I understand completely.
Donna was such an underrated character. She needed more screen time. Her and Tom with their "treat yoself" always made me laugh. This was such a great show!!
i still say that to my wife every time she goes shopping for non-necessities. and i mean it.
She did always seem to know what a person needed in their life.
So true about Donna. Every time I see a Mercedes I think of the time they shot her car.
Hard disagree. But that's the great thing about opinions, we all die and nothing matters.
Nah dawg, she was a pointless and annoying character. They just needed a black character.
The best part about this is in the flash forwards at the series finale, when Typhoon marries Craig, he has Ron as his best man, they literally get that close.
I also would put money on the fact that despite his protests about getting to know people, I’m sure Ron had a play in introducing the two of them too.
Typhoon and Craig met at Tom's bistro I believe
I have an imaginary scene in my head where Typhoon proposes to Craig in the parks office and Craig starts being his usual neurotic lollygagging self, and Ron shouts from his office, "Just say yes and let me eat my bacon in peace and quiet!".
Matchmaking isn’t just about introductions, I’m sure Ron had some gruff yet folksy wisdom that helped them on their romantic journey together.
@@kaylahensley1581 "Ron, I'm thinking of asking Craig to marry me."
"I couldn't care less."
"And we'll serve porterhouse steaks at the reception."
"You have my blessings, son."

And all that tells the tales of endings 🤡
I mean, it’s not too odd that they get along.
He’s obviously very skilled at his profession, he has hobbies that involve crafting and making things, he’s a young successful business owner and Donna respects and likes him and Ron knows what that Meagle stamp is worth.
Ron may be pretty closed off, but he does respect hard work, genuine people and he always gives people a chance.
Donna knows best…
He is a Man ^^ with a mustache
he may not like things youre into but he respects and apperciates honesty and truth and being yourself

He works with his hands, has hard opinions, speaks his mind, and likes things simple and to the point. Its no wonder these two are best friends.
"You will cut this man's hair, and you will charge him $8. It will take you four minutes."
Damn, Typhoon!
Parks and Rec has a great way of poking fun at various political and ideological beliefs without ever seeming mean-spirited. Such a wholesome show.
This was a time when writers on both sides of the spectrum treated politics the way everyone should.
Ron Swanson is meant to be an unflattering parody of libertarianism and but is such a great character that he is unironically embraced as an icon instead
You're a park
@@bigboysdotcom745 well the issue is that you can’t portray certain political or ideological beliefs in any light except critical.
If Ron was genuinely terrible and hateful to a European to the point of being bigoted, that would be unsympathetic but also not unrealistic.
But they decided to stay in the middle of how political they get. Don’t talk about serious subjects and don’t portray anyone terribly bigoted.
And I am fine with that. This isn’t a criticism. The gays and the lumberjack straights are represented well in this series.
Ron is based on a writer from The Simpsons by the name of John Swartzwelder. A hardcore libertarian who apparently cared little for false pretenses.
The best part is that later in the series, when Typhoon gets married, Ron is his best man (or a groomsmen)

Always loved the Swanson Giggle™
3:11 is probably the best Swanson Giggle in the series
Why unlikely? As someone who's been in a relationship for decades, my experience is that the secret is not what you both love, but what you both hate!
Yup, that's how friendship or even romantic relationship formed in workplace commonly. The "hate the same coworker(s)" trope is really common now. I find it weird how relationship formed easily from mutual hate instead of mutual liking
Isn't there a dating site based on that
Love fades, hate is forever - Jesus

I think the best part is that we see in the finale that Ron is Typhoon’s best man at his and Craig’s wedding. Really goes to show their relationship despite it actually only being shown like twice.
Donna is the best friend you need. She knows you and when she says "Trust me", you are a fool not to go along with it.
For all Ron's strength and stoicism, his collapse in grief for his friend Salvatore show some real wholesome vulnerability despite his masculinity.
Something that most people don't think about (though once pointed out is generally accepted) but is supported by numerous peer reviewed studies is that one of the strongest bonds you can make with someone when beginning an interpersonal relationship (friendship, romance, etc) is the bond over a mutual dislike or hatred of something else.
I can’t remember the name but one famous arctic explorer would purposely hire someone who he felt the rest of the group would hate for this very reason, except one time he was wrong and he became friends with the man.
Nothing brings two people closer than the hatred of a third
That's very interesting! And i believe it has some merit. I'm a great example. My interests do not align with who I am as a person, so I tend to end up hating the people I share common interests with. We like the same things, but do not see the world in a similar way. Almost all of my friends have nothing in common with me. But when I really think about it... we have similar distastes. Or, rather, we're annoyed by the same things/type of people. Literally never thought about that until now.
Typhoon is very unapologetically himself and refuses to be otherwise - something the heavily independent Ron can respect and appreciate.
It's Ron's giggle - so genuine and wicked and unexpected ❤️
Donna isn't at the forefront often, but she's a valuable part of the show's comedy. She "gets" people.

It might just be me, but I swear you can see Sam Elliot’s moustache growing throughout that scene. 😂
It grows at 1000x the speed of a normal man's mustache, Scientists everywhere have done studies to figure out why but none are conclusive. When asked about their findings all they say is, "He's just built different"
It took eight takes and he had to shave three times.
OMG....ME TOO
Sam Elliott's missing 'stache is off having adventures on its own. Taming horses and panning for gold.
He’s weird without ittt

This friendship is super under-rated. There should have been more scenes with these 2.
I love Nick Offerman's laugh it's so infectious - especially when coming from Ron Swanson's serious face. 😆
"Whenever my hair feels it has completed its journey, it simply sheds itself off."
"....I hate you so much."
"And I love you, my brother!"
What a duo. 😆
I wish people were that encouraging or discouraging in conversations so I knew where I stood. "I have no further questions about X" "please talk more about Y" So helpful.
Sounds like you need some autistic friends!
I feel like Ron actually likes Ron Dunn more than he lets on, because he gives him someone of equal skill, though diametrically opposed opinions to match wits with.
This is such an underrated show. You can't help but like Andy for the innocent fool he is, Donna is sassy, Leslie may be ambitious, but is also a very caring woman, and Ron Swanson is a legend. So much so, that I have the Swanson Pyramid of Greatness on my kitchen wall.
Donna is not „sassy“ she is mysterious and ruthless 😂
I love Ron Dunn just appearing to ruin Ron's life, without trying.
Sam Elliott playing a hippie is absolutely gold
Fun fact - Sam Elliot was/is a hippie California-born actor who did/does surf.
People who enjoy that same things as you are always a good time to be around, but you find someone that hates the same things as you, that’s where the real fun is.
Ron's evil high-pitched giggle gets me lolling always
And Ron then becomes his best man haha
“…chandelier design for my friend’s drag puppet show” is an underrated line
I saw a great comment on another video that says that Hair by Typhoon is weirdly the type of store Ron would like, it tells you what it works with and who does it (it's pretty much like food & stuff, ron's favorite store)
About 15 chainsaws and 100 razors died trying to shave Sam Elliot mustache
that look on Donna's face at the very end just gets me every time.
Y’all should have had when Ron was the best man at Craig and Typhoon’s wedding. That was so awesome.
I mean you could have included the scene where Typhoon gets married and Ron is his best man...
you know ron's having a good time when he does the "hehehuheughehu" laugh
Honestly believe this show needs to comeback. This show is living proof that no matter how different people are with their morals or political beliefs, respect and friendship can still coexist.
no matter how different? what about nazis and jews? can they coexist?
Ron and Typhoon’s friendship is the purest in the entire show.
It's always amused me how my own father is essentially a mix of both Rons. Always pushed me towards self-reliance, but to also keep an open mind about things I'm unfamiliar with.
Other Ron is one of my favorite recurring characters!!!
Rons giggles are more precious than a refrigerator sized diamond.
0:47 "Was he killed by a younger, stronger barber?" Oh Andy, you fine but you simple.
Ron's giggle is uplifting
Ron’s enjoyment of the barber hating on Europe caught me off guard
Ron and Ron Dunn always have great interactions😂
Sam Elliot without a mustache may be one of the most genuinely upsetting things I've ever seen...
Ron not liking bicycles had always struck me as an odd line. I mean people who are really into biking & the general mentality I understand. But for a guy who likes nature, the outdoors & quiet you would think bikes would at least get a begrudging pass.
Ron Swanson thinks that anything a bicycle can do, a horse can do just as well and better.
I feel like the problem is expressly urban biking. Ron doesn't hate *bikes*, but he hates when they're ridden around cities - especially since bikers tend to take up the entire road and/or sidewalk and not care about pedestrians.
As someone who likes hiking, bikers are the absolute worst. They're silent, but they go wizzing through the woods way too fast and can't stop, so you have to literally watch for them at all times and get out of the way fast when they come through. It's a pain in the neck and quite frankly unsafe.
Ron is a down to earth guy who likes to understand the workings of things. No one knows how bikes stay up, he is right to distrust them.
@@isabellessley3513 people going fast on bikes generally are very aware of what they're riding towards. YOU do not have to get out of the way because you are slow and unaware, they will go around you, so every time you decide to awkwardly bumble side to side on a path because you're trying to work out which way to move out of the way, YOU are the one making problems. Just keep walking and let them go around you, it's not hard.
This was by far one of the most wholesome moments of the whole series.
I love that Ron is not only there for typhoon's wedding, he also was his best man. they really were perfect friends despite their differences.
Forgot to include the perfect punchline that was Ron being Typhoon's best man at his wedding.
"I was like, ew." Everytime I see a bicycle Jeff
It’s not hard to see how Ron Swanson survived the Last of Us apocalypse.
"Please talk more about how you hate Europe and Bicycles." And it was forged on this day.

“Please talk more about how you hate Europe and bicycles.”
Ron’s giggle is my spirit animal.
No matter who you are, everyone needs a sassy gay friend
Donna looking like a proud mom watching her kid make friends.
One of my favorite pairings in this entire series, when they do call backs later on it was just so good.
Everyone’s focusing on typhoon and Ron, but the exchange between Andy and Sam Elliot are amazing
Ron could be a therapist
And after each session he could say “My work here is Dunn.”
No matter where you came from, there is always something that can bind us together.
The funny part is the actors playing both Rons are more like the other Ron in RL...
Getting Ron warmed up for his role in last of us
Love Ron's face at 3:05 how goes from anger to joy
