From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The dichotomy of Ron Swanson is amazing. He is one of the manliest men in existence, and yet he has the giggle of a five year old girl.
Well… the man loves riddles.
The best part is that that is his real laugh.
Everyman has that one thing that brings out their little girl 🥹

It is the duel between Riddler and Riddlee in a test of wits, a competition of brains, and the tenacity of the human spirit.
I always find it funny how he just rambles on and on once he realizes he has said too much about burying the gold 😂😂
The thing is if he just stopped at “I have since moved it”, it would’ve been better because then people would just think it’s not there and move on

she literally sent him on a treasure hunt around the UK where he ended up in scotland and lead to him finding literal alchemized liquid gold and made this beast of a man cry tears.
If Ron decided to be a detective, Pawnee would have the lowest unsolved crimes rate in the country.
i'd like to think he'd let some of them go because he wouldn't care about the crime just solving the mysteries lol.
But Democrats would let them go...

This show only works with the Counterpoint of all the frivolous absurd morons that surround him. Without them to give him a contrast it wouldn't be as effective a character

My friend got Tanghulu from a food festival and ask our group to guess what it was nd I said; "Strawberry Tanghulu, you got that from the stand representing Northern China." and one of my friends said "This is why you confuse me. How do you know these things?!"
What I love is that on front of Ben and anyone else he acts like he hates riddles while still helping tremendously, meanwhile in front of April and Andy he doesn't hide his passion for riddle hunts. They really are just his adopted kids.

April's explanation of why the tree reminds her of Ron is amazing. Not just for the 'strong and quiet' reasons, but also that Ron loves woodworking and has a respect for trees that provide good lumber (see also his story about the "crib tree"

Where I’m from, there’s a rich family who has an annual scavenger hunt across 3-4 counties and the winner gets $20k. They have hints on billboards, daily texts, a website…etc and at each location you find it has a QR code you scan for the next clue. It’s crazy!
Let’s waste thousands of dollars traveling and be rich enough to take all this time off work just to get 20k hahaha.

I’m embarrassed to admit I just got that.

But Andy was right. Ron was the 1st smartest guy he knew, and Ron helped Ben solve the riddle.
A guy who isn't smart but is wise enough to know who actual smart people are can basically get anything accomplished.
Ron Swanson achieved a level of greatness so high, no one can aspire to follow. I am still on a pilgrimage of his footsteps but i lack the woodcraft knowledge, the mustache and worse, solve riddles like he does.
I am not worthy.
The fact you're striving to achieve, makes you worthy.

The version that airs on tv is different from the version on Peacock, that scene is from the Peacock one. (I actually just saw it like 2 days ago)
Yeah I thought that was the case too, apparently there are a bunch of little differences between the airing and streaming versions.
One I can remember is Ken Hotate saying that white people "love Matchbox Twenty" when the version I saw says they "love Rachael Ray".
@@dylansickinger545 Yeah, some episodes have extended versions. I have the blu-ray box set, and 2-3 episodes per season has a ~6 minute extended version.

Ron admitting he loves puzzles in the last season as he opened up with Diane and the kids in his life is such a beautiful completely subtle touch. The viewers know he loves puzzles but he’s pretty much tried to hide it in all previous seasons before he became Princess Sparkle of Cupcake Forest
If you haven't watched "The Last Of Us" yet, Season 1 episode 3 stars Nick Offerman and there's hints of Ron in that character. That episode is the best hour I've seen of TV in years. He was excellent.
Usually when a show modifies a character because of something the actor has previously done, it feels incredibly forced and painful. But somehow their Bill is still great, and you can tell that if things had gone a little differently for Game-Bill, he probably would've turned out just like the show one. They managed to roll in Ron's traits without throwing out the original.
This show is so hysterical, chaotic and wholesome at the same time!
Chris Pratt is hilarious in this and amazing in Terminal List. Wonderful pendulum swing!

I’ve been collecting gold since my grandfather got me into stacking gold when I was 8 years old. I’ve currently got just a couple grams over 7 ounces of gold coins and one bar plus a bunch of broken 14k chains and rings.(just need to melt them down) He told me that good will always hold value no matter what happens. Thanks grandpa having gold has helped me have the means to pay a lot of surprise bills. It’s a lot more expensive now vs when I was younger could buy an ounce in 1998 for a little less than $300 vs 2023 it’s over $1800.
