Am I the only one who thinks April is the most animated around Ben? It just seems like she show more general emotions with him than with any other member of the cast.
My guess is that Ben’s energy is more calm so April likes to mess it up while all the other characters are more upbeat, so April gives them the opposite energy in return.
"I'm gonna murder you" "I understand, just one second" This is it. This is every time I've geeked out about something to my friends summarized in two easy sentences.
Andy and Ben had the tough brother and smart brother relationship while April and Ben had the evil little sister and concerned older brother relationship it’s so awesome
we should all take a minute to consider the fact that April absolutely ripping into Ellis was her giving '15%' effort... Imagine what she could do at maximum effort.
I really wish we had got to see more of Ben's times with Andy and April. They were roommates for so long, they probably bonded quite a bit during that time.
This friendship was totally meant to be, they're the two characters who do the most and best of "look straight at the camera as they're in the Office", which, I understand, comes from them being like outsiders in the normal social dynamics.
Also, I just realized it this time around, but the joke is that they think it’s nepotism because they all used family connections to get these internships-it doesn’t make sense to them that April would just be, like Some Gal and not the boss’s daughter. Of course, she DID know him beforehand, so it’s not that different from nepotism...but technically it’s not!
Apparently the scene between April and Ellis the intern was not scripted like that. Imagine how frightened he must’ve been when Aubrey improvised that😳
I think they have good interactions because Ben was excluded from any type of event that required a social interaction since Ice Town and when he got to pawnee he made friends but still didn't behave like others would (being very closed off and stuff) and April hates small talk, most social interactions and loves sarcasm which they both are very good at so they connected after getting to know each other because they have similar mannerisms
I think April likes Ben so much because he’s so unabashedly boring and lame that he actually circles back around to being interesting. And he’s not fake. He doesn’t care that people think he’s boring. Most boring people try to fake being interesting, but Ben likes being boring. Although Ben doesn’t think he’s a boring person, he thinks he’s interesting, which just makes him even more genuine which makes April like him more.
I read a comment on another video that April fell for Andy because he doesn't pretend to be something he's not. He's unabashedly himself and just genuinely kind. And April dislikes people who pretend to be something they're not, and she especially hates fake happiness/positivity. Similarly, Ben is just his weird self, not pretending to be otherwise. It's that sincerity that makes her respect him. Interestingly, at 2:50 we see sincere *frustration* from Ben towards April, something people are not inclined to ever show. She appreciates that level of sincerity, and so it's no wonder she straightens herself out, and also Ellis.
''I'm gonna murder you.'' *I understand, just one sec* That killed me, must be one of the funniest moments in the whole show, just... the delivery was perfect, and April's face after that
when he flips it and stops actually being scared of her cos they're close now, and she realises he's gonna just earnestly nerd at her like leslie would
April is best described by Donna during their "Spirit Dogs" episode: "You are beautiful yet cold and aloof. You pride yourself on being a loner. You do not obey, you choose to cooperate. And when you stop baring your fangs to choose a mate, it's for Life; and you are Fiercely loyal to your pack which makes you a rare black Siberian Husky." Craig: "That was so spot on it was scary..."
The funny thing is that in that moment where April is telling these unrealistic rules to follow and Andy is being very casual, the dynamics reminded me of Cris and Ben being good cop bad cop when auditing.
I liked watching the relationship between him and Leslie grow. From absolute hate on Leslie's part to kind of joking around and flirting to when they knew how they felt about each other and couldn't really do anything.
