I really feel bad for April's actual dad. He seemed like a really nice guy and he was perfectly fine with his 20 year old marry a 29 year old shoe shiner with no home. And for some reason, April thought of Ron as more of a father figure than him.

While her bio father is more nice, social, & outgoing. April is a bit opposite of that and so is Ron so she relates more to him than her bio dad if that makes sense.

Ron is a father figure for many. Two other characters who see him as a prominent dad figure are Andy and Tom and we don't see their fathers so I don't feel as bad for them. However imagine how you'd have felt if you're Mr. Ludgate in this situation. April even made Ron walk her down the aisle during her wedding (if I'm remembering right).

the real problem with government are all the ron swansons who are so determined to prove that government doesnt work, they make their way into it to make it a reality there are tons of leslie knopes... they just are actual humans who get burned out by literal saboteurs

Well I think it's a matter of who she cares about too. If it's someone she cares about and they get angry at her then she grows meek, if it's someone she doesn't care about then she doesn't care if they get angry at her or what they think.

I'd smile and say thank you, then immediately forget about it. But, a compliment from someone like Ron, that would actually mean the world, make my day, and I would probably never forget the moment
Honestly having a coworker like Chris would be awesome, just as long as he was usually on the shift before or after me so i'd never have to survive the full duration of a shift with him. His charm and positivity could be very nice right before or after a shift and he'd probably always have something nice to say about me if i was under the weather
I'm in agreement with you in the sense that if you do that so much they become meaningless in a sense. That is true of a lot of things. But, just a little bit later, you get a very genuine and honest bit of praise from Chris towards April. So, from my perspective, it's true that those everyday, easy to come by compliments would be meaningless, but that doesn't make the genuinely heartfelt and honest one's any less meaningful.
@@lenaackerman2499 the first ep isnt that good, but from my experience watching like a million shows, the pilot and 1st season may not represent the whole shows quality. So I gave this one a chance and it turned out amazing! If I'd stop watching bc of a boring pilot, I would've skipped right past Community :)

I had a coworker that forwarded her phone calls to a different phone, and forwarded that phone's phone calls back to her own. That way, the phone never rings, and the caller ends up calling into an endless loop. found out, because I keep getting phone calls from client service and asked them why they always call me.
oh PS, I pissed some of the people off, because i start giving the phone number of the phone designated for personal calls. THe one phone they will answer. Also, for months I thought the issue was solved, and then found out they just included my phone on the endless loop.
I feel the "Great Job!" moment so much with April... that little "mmm" "Great Job!" "nnn" ... I knew someone in real life who was relentless in their positivity and it was absolute torture. Hated every second of it. I like to quietly do my work and then leave. And not involve myself with the live animals that I work with.

Honestly, Aubrey Plaza's acting as April is actually super impressive. She conveys emotions ranging from panic to joy and comfort with nuance using the smallest of face movements and body language.
If anybody had ever asked for a 15% effort on any of my first dozen jobs, they would have gotten the best job anyone had ever done for them. (and it would have been about 15%)

On the other hand, Chris Traeger is like working for a beagle puppy: constantly needs attention, and while cute at first, gets mentally and physically exhausting after 5 minutes.
