I love that you make the projects and then review the box again! Love your channel.

Thanks for this honest review. I've been watching box openings on various channels, before deciding on a couple boxes to subscribe to. I've decided to go with Open Gates and Sewers Club. Got my first boxes last week and looking forward to working on their projects. I totally agree that the material for the Sew What project was not ideal for the purpose. I'm not a fan of the finished project or the cost for it.

I've seen you mention open gates a few times, so you now have me curious to look into them too! Sewers Club is going up on wednesday but i am curious to know which colour they sent you. I'm glad I was able to help you decide which boxes to go with. This subscription box has so much potential but it doesn't ever seem to really fulfill it.

They sent me the purple one. When I contacted them about getting the May box, I asked if I could get it in that color way and they said they still had come left in that color and that's what I got! Unbelievably good customer service!

Stretch terry was definitely not the best choice for this project. It's a bit disappointing that they're not really usable for anything other than looking nice in the bathroom, especially since I don't think the light green with the polka dots goes with the brown. They would have looked nicer with just the dark green & the cream, and maybe another brown in lieu of the light green. Also I have a wimpy machine; I don't think it would have gone through those thick triangle layers, even if I used a heavy-duty needle. I understand why they went with the folded method - the "banner" is very crisp and the edges very clean - but ye gods that's a lot of layers.
I'm a little sad over this one. I was kind of excited about the project when you opened the box, but they really made some dubious choices materials-wise. It would be interesting to see how they turn out with a non-stretch terry and a different method of making the triangle trim. What that method would be, well to be honest I can't think of a way to get those super-sharp points without folding; perhaps someone more experienced could help out there.
Looking forward to Wednesday's video - Sewers Club never disappoints :-)

I'm a little sad too. I'm thinking of trying to make this again with a thicker terry cloth and binding the edges instead of folding them over. I agree that layers were on the thinker side, but the fabric is also super thin, so while it was bulky it wasn't difficult, but my machine is a bit of a workhorse 😁 I wasn't initially a fan of the colours but they have begun growing on me. Definitely not a scheme i would have chosen, but I can see the vision. The greens do look quite nice in real life, it sucks that this video doesn't really do them justice.

@@fredmakesthings I hope you do make it again and show it to us in one of your "revisit" videos. It's got a lot of potential; it just needs the right materials. And I don't actually dislike the light green - I have a solid & a polka dot in almost that exact shade - I just don't like it with the brown.

Unfortunately pieces are not cut with accuracy. On the only 3 I got there were cutting errors .

Yeah, it's pretty hit and miss. I can see how it wouldn't be worth the risk or the added effort to make the project work. Luckily, this one was pretty easy to fix.
