As a South African soldier I had no idea about Toby and I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't find his story sooner. What a remarkable story of service and overcoming the odds🇬🇧💪🏽🇿🇦
An ex partner who served in Northern Ireland was blown up in an IRA bomb at a barracks here. He was young when it happened and lived for his military life but he grieved for his past military life and the man he once was. Unfortunately he hid himself in his mother's home for years and anyone he did meet his only purpose was reliving the story of his injuries and showing them to certain people. He didnt really do anything with his life after post recovery although his injuries were part of this due to pain. It was difficult being in a relationship with this person trying to be a positive support and hoping he would challenge himself in other ways to start again. That did not happen and he constantly relived his memories of that day and telling everyone about his injuries and displaying them as if either to shock or gain pity...the latter i do not really know. We parted ways and he still apparently to this day lives for his past story of that day and recounting his injuries. It was his way perhaps of dealing with the loss of who he once was and reminding himself of the why. Military wounded veterans have all lost a part of they once were and each deals with this loss differently. The veteran in this video i fully understand and he is inspirational due to extreme severe injuries and i wish him all the best in his future. To all wounded veterans i can say...your life and future is important and i thank you for your service.
Definitely agree with that, I am struggling then to see Toby and even lough he’s got support, you still have to have the will and positive energy to move forward, I’m bilateral amputee, and seeing the type of injury, does push me on, he’s really done great, props to him, I had sepsis 3 times almost died twice, we are kept for a reason
What an amazing beacon of hope you are to not only the disabled but people with head injury,s which after a 90 mph head on crash I can relate to the mental batttles that are on going with head injuries ,I truly hope you find a good place god be with you you have my deepest respect thank you god please be with you in your darkest hours you are an amazing person👍
I think he’s amazing, I’ve had plenty of adversity, life changing, but it’s really sad to see such a fine person have to be injured in such a way that he has to deal with the injuries every single minute every single day, he’s made me think yeah I can do it, military or dangerous activities or work ect, men accept, this can happen, but how Toby takes it is amazing to me 💯👍😎
A ex SAS from the 70s I know other comrades like him. We should not need charities, the government put us in combat and they should pay. No ex soldier like begging for help. A fully funded veterans association should be in place like America under President Trump.
Legend. His book is inspirational to say the least. Keep on fighting the good fight. Respect 💪🙌🫡💂🤙

Toby might not see himself as a hero but everyone else watching this does. What an outlook and what an inspiring story
I couldn't even begin to imagine what he's been through. That bullet could have gone anywhere

Does anyone have a link to his clothing brand?

This brave young man sent to fight a useless war - Taliban are still in power. The politicians should send their kids first and then we can follow!
I couldn’t man. Just do me with a pillow while I sleep.
His life is of value look at what he has achieved since. If you were in his actual situation you probably would not utter this comment.
His Book 'Never will I die' goes thoroughly into this. The Man is incredible.

What an incredible man you are x
