Thank you so much to all of you for being here with us throughout this whole journey. It has been a long and crazy journey, and now the next chapter begins! Also -- thank you so much to Barry for agreeing to come with us on our maiden voyage! His channel is all about sailing a traditional wooden boat in these waters. It can be found here: www.youtube.com/@SailorBarry
What an absolute and fundamental deep joy it was to see this video after four years of your work. Speaking for (some of) us in the United States, who care, this came at such a much needed moment for all of our souls and spirits. The timing couldn't have been better. We love you.
I am flabbergasted 🤩 What A Ship! So beautiful. Looks so great in her right element. Perfect lines. Im really happy for you. Take care on your journey. It’ll be a joy to follow out on the seven seas 🌊 Here we go! Safe Winds to ya’! ❤️🙏❤️
Congrats! The sound of the water chuckling along the hull is so beautiful. If I close my eyes, I can feel the tug of the tiller in my hand, as it was for me, so long ago. Thanks for sharing the Magic (Carpet) with us.🙂
Finally, someone who actually put on gloves to handle the anchor chain, etc. Thanks for putting together such fine programming, and for inviting us along. I look forward to all the adventures.
Very happy for you to be sailing on beautifully restored Magic Carpet. Having transformed the boat and in some ways yourselves it must be a precious time to savour. Thank you for sharing your journey. The coastline looks lovely, reminds me of the west coast of Scotland, and the south of Ireland. Great that Brian came to the rescue. Then Barry shared his knowledge, and took a chilly dip.
Wow - the adventure begins ... and here's to all talented and experienced Dads that become available at 20 min. notice to ensure that such adventures begin sucessfully
Have been with you from the beginning . A wonderful trip for a boater who has aged past the ability to sail. Thank you for a wonderful adventure; leading to many more, I hope.
I cannot forget the first time I happened come to your RUclips channel and I was totally drawn into the elegant introspection and immediately next the obvious extraordinary level of production. Today I was thrilled to witness the first sail after all these years. Emotional, really. And to see clearly how absolutely beautiful the boat is and to again fall into the lovely folds of exquisite commentary-as vital to me in life as the sailing itself. Congratulations!
It's truly a joy to see you back on the open seas. Just as much as you needed a rest from the refit to relish what genuinely fulfills your spirit, so did your viewers. While winter may hold its chill outside, we are eagerly anticipating the warmth of several new episodes from your late summer adventure as the weather turns, especially since many other channels seem to be easing up on content release. I am in awe of the intricate detail and craftsmanship that went into your refit. The end results are nothing short of spectacular. Now, as you dive back into the usual hustle and bustle, remember that the holidays are just around the corner to offer you a well-deserved pause. You bring immense joy to your 162,000 subscribers and the many others who might just stop by for a few episodes. Feel encouraged and keep up the wonderful work!
Carl, you have summed up, exactly, my feelings for what Maya and Aladino have achieved even using my favourite word to express my admiration of Aladinos work AWE, better than I could have expressed myself
From my sailing years there is one magical moment that stands out for me on every voyage. Each journey begins wiht the scurring round of getting the boat ready to sail, starting the motor, casting off from the mooring and hoisting and setting sails. And then a moment in time, when I stop the motor starts and the world changes completely. The intrusive ICE is replaced by the clip as the boat passes through the water, I feel the wind fill the sails and my boat responds easily and enthuiastically to the forces of nature and I feel peace and tranquility descend over me - such a magical moment. After 4 years of extraordinary toil to craft a beautiful boat I hope that you both had such an amazing feeling too in the instant when magic carpet 2 began its "sailing" life with you.
I woke up this morning and I thought about how I can't wait to see Sailing Magic Carpet. It's a joy to see you on the water with your beautiful Magic Carpet. Lora and I Love You ❤️
As wonderful as your new home is becoming, your framing and eloquence allows us to share the experience. Y'shar koch'chah and y'shar koach. May your strength be righteous... more power to your great job.
Oh, how you must feel. Truly a magnificent ending of a stressful, but beautiful adventure to bring MCII back to life, and the beginning of new adventures as you explore the world’s oceans. She is beautiful and shines with the love of your skillful hands. Can’t wait for new stories of your explorations. ❤️❤️
Finally 😅 I can smell the ocean air from here Congratulations Guys. Well Done 😊 Looking forward to Maya’s wonderful dialogue of your next chapter. Aladino what a treasure you are…Craftsman, project manager, Maya’s soulmate. Fair seas and warm winds Captain
Beautiful film and a weighty and worthy first step toward healing in this new chapter. It will take time, as you see. Love the Carnival rendition at the end!
First time posting! I had smile on my face the entire time I watched this video and my eyes def welled up when you put her sails up for the first time. I cannot imagine the feeling to be out in the islands after 4 years of working on your beautiful boat. Well done you two. Sailing Magic Carpet, welcome to the sailing Mecca!
It was nice watching you go down the river. I had my boat at Captain Coves Marina for several years so the trip you took was a familiar one. You had very calm seas for your maiden voyage. The northwesters that roll down the straight can be really nasty as they are usually accompanied by five foot rollers but a boat as heavy as yours will find it fun. Congratulations on a well deserved maiden voyage.
Seeing the interior view know what just the sink back splash took and everything behind that I’m still in awe over the job dedication and love you put into MCTOO! 🙂
Wow, the scene of you coming down the Fraser River with the big ships and industrial buildings on the shore instantly took me back to your trip heading north through Europe on the first Magic Carpet! 🥰 Great memories and great future to come!
Maya, your filmmaking so wonderfully captures your emotions as you begin this next chapter. I'm so glad that you decided to have your shakedown summer, short though it may be and without everything that n place. I eagerly await the coming episodes.
Great to see your beautiful Cape George under way in open water and heeling a bit under foresails! Congratulations on this huge achievement. You'll get the little wrinkles ironed out in time. Cheers!
Initially thought I accidentally clicked on a slick $3 mil. boat-for-sail video. I 've watched all along, but never saw a long shot of the boat, and didn't recognize it--Looks amazing!
Congratulations on the start of your shakedown cruise. Gotta love your dad! He is very much like mine was: calm, confident, resourceful and reassuring. We need more like them to keep us all moving in the right direction!
Great to see you on the water again. It is wonderful to see Aladino's many hours of planning and labors, and hear Maya's amazing commentary and wonderful violin tunes.
Congratulations on the first sail of Magic Carpet 2 she looks absolutely beautiful especially from the drone shots and I'm sure that with more sailing this first season you will become more comfortable with the boat and be able to tackle the work still needed next winter ❤👍👍🇳🇿
Maya, its written all over your face....pure joy! We have waited so long for this day and the beauty of MC2 exceeds all my dreams. More to go in this renovation but you are exactly where you need to be!
After such a long refit it is a joy to see SMC under 2 tiny sails moving forward in her natural habitat. Just enjoy every moment to come. It is your boat with all the love you have been putting in it in all the years. She will not let you down.
Thank you for sharing your story. I love both the refit and cruising videos. One of the very few channels that can navigate the two types of videos masterfully. I love your voice, music and narration. The video and story telling is so entertaining. I always look forward to your videos and hope you have a wonderful time on your shakedown sail. ⛵️
This new chapter of yours is going to be so welcoming though I know it will be a short one till the refit begins again; it feels like forever I have been waiting to get back on the water with you both and with so many other boaters doing refits over the past 4 to 8 years I really need this... you see, it has been over 45 years since I sold my boat and I miss it so much. Well not the boat so much as being on the water and sailing with it. And before I bought my boat I raced as crew for a few years on a 38 ft. C & C in lake Ontario. So I wish you great sailing and wonderful adventures.
What a great episode again. Having followed you from the beginning, your journey never felt "crazy" to quote yourselves. Sometimes we are guilty of "on behalf thinking" when we think what other people might think. Only do that when you are preparing for a negotiation. Other than that it's a no-go. In the video, I would like to occasionally see your instrument indicating speeds - relative to water, wind, over ground, whatever is meaningful. During the sea crossing it seemed like there was just enough wind to keep the sails in shape, and there were no clues of any speed, visually. Dad did great again for his daughter. I hope he didn't have too big a problem to get back to his bike.
The take of the whales blowing air and water in the backlight with the foggy bits hanging in the air and slowly disappearing - wow, beautiful. That was a photographic highlight.
Dearly Kongratulations to You. You worked so hard to make your dream come true .I follow You since the beginning and I am exited of the result of your work . I wish You the best for all Your future plans . With the best regards Ingolf from the east of Gemany

Safe Winds to ya’! ❤️🙏❤️
Loved that the whales were there welcoming you guys back home to the blues and greens!
Congrats, and yes, you had the wind for a great little sail. Looking forward to next video

She looks majestic going through the water. You guys did a wonderful job bringing her back to life. Tight lines.

Me saying how much I have missed seeing you on the water I am sure that is an understatement for you. Welcome home.
Beautiful passage , beautiful music! Just wonderful to see you sailing again.

What a treat and gift that you would share your lives with us. Safe journeys.
Just incredible to see the water beneath you progressively go from brown to glorious blue. Congratulations.
She is a beauty, classic lines and Mia you're right the eyebrow is my favorite part too. Safe sailing and following seas, fair weather and mild tides.
Joy and rebirth
Dragonflies are the national symbol of Japan and represent joy and rebirth.

Your dad just needed an excuse to grab the bike and come down the sunshine coast, that road is SO NICE :)

As a perfectionist, there’s only one way to do anything properly. But it’s always worth the effort and time in the end despite the pain at the time!
What a beautiful video. I love how you craft your text like poetry!!! Congrats
