    You do not have to disconnect the battery when removing the sensor. I just replaced mine and this information came from a Nissan Technician who is a friend of mine otherwise you might have to have the ecm re-programmed by the dealer which will cost you

    • @redonKiLaus
      @redonKiLaus  5 лет назад +10

      The reason you want to disconnect the battery is to reset the ECU's adaptations to the MAF (fuel trims and other tables). You can also do this using diagnostic tools or more advanced software interfaces like Nissan's own Consult III. It certainly won't hurt your vehicle not to reset the ECU, but will take longer to adjust to the new MAF and achieve optimal performance and efficiency.
      Resetting the ECU will not cause you to need to have it reprogrammed under any normal circumstance.

    ..I have currently changed the air filter, cleaned one of newer MAFs from Amazon (cheap not hitachi, delphi), and sprayed the face of the throttle body and wiped face of it reset the code and the light has not come on in two weeks and retightened the boot between throttle body and air filter, there is a TSB that says it may need an update to the ECM because it draws too much current and sets the code off....i was ready to break down and buy the $250 dollar dealer part and start fresh, but the car still runs fine and will see how long this cleaning works. The car runs fine even with the same code for 2 years....2011 nissan maxima

    The replacement MAF solved most of our P101 and P103 errors. In addition, we have now added a voltage clamp to the MAF output circuit, and there will be a future video on how we performed that installation. We are now 3 weeks without any MAF errors and the truck runs great!

    So I got the MAF changed but the CEL keeps coming on. I have disconnected the negative terminal and also have taken it to a repair shop and they reset the codes , I have driven for about 100 miles now but the CEL keeps staying on . The repair shop said I need to get the PCM reset .. not sure if you guys have any other options

    • @redonKiLaus
      @redonKiLaus  4 года назад +1

      Not sure what's up with that - sounds like there may be another underlying issue. You can always have a dealer reset the PCM but I don't have high hopes that it would do anything. Thanks for watching!

    I can't disconnect the electrical connector on 2009 Nissan Sentra. I tried to push down, press the small tab downward w/flat screwdriver (was recommended in another film, also Nissan, but different model), don't know what to do. Are there any lubricants I can apply to disconnect it somehow? Maybe to tap on it slightly, but fear to break something. Car has only ~40K, but that sensor is definitely stuck there. Thank you for the informative film.

    • @redonKiLaus
      @redonKiLaus  3 года назад +1

      They are weatherproof connectors with rubber seals so they stick pretty well. I wouldn't spray anything on it, but the best way to get it apart is by depressing the tab and wiggling the connector side to side as you pull...should come out with some persuasion. Pulling straight won't loosen it, wiggle is required. Thanks for watching!

      @@redonKiLaus Thank you for so detailed description. I'll try with the wiggling. In the worst case of scenario I'll replace the whole connector w/both sides.

      @@redonKiLaus Dear Sir, thanks a lot again! I succeeded to disconnect that Nissan plug, following your technique: by wiggling and pressing on the very end of the tab down. I even don't think it was stuck, but rather the problem was to find the right position, when that disconnection can happen (kind of tricky plug indeed), bcs when I put it back and tried to disconnect again it was hard as the previous time. And also I could disconnect it only when it was mounted on the car. At some point I disconnected the whole set (plug + MAF sensor) and tried to disconnect it again, it didn't work (for me). Then I placed the set into its position, tighten the screws, disconnected the plug, then removed the MAF sensor. Replacing the sensor didn't clear the code P0171, but rather gave a new one P0102 (means the new sensor wasn't good for that car), but that is a different story. I found on that car ripped Intake Manifold Boot and replaced it, just need to check if the code is cleared after some driving. But now I know how to disconnect those electrical plugs on our Nissan. God Bless!

    Is this the Mass air flow sensor bank 1 for a nissan xterra 06???

    • @redonKiLaus
      @redonKiLaus  6 лет назад

      There is only a single mass airflow sensor on any of the VQ40 engines (all Xterras 05+), so it could be that if you're reading a code from the ECU that it refers to it as bank 1 even though there is no bank 2. That said, the most common code to get for bank 1 and bank 2 of these engines is for a oxygen (O2) sensor malfunction, so I would double check via a OBD-II scan tool to ensure you are diagnosing the correct sensor since they are not inexpensive. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

      TEDDY-why do you think your system is running 900, and is this causing a problem? cept for the engine running a tad fast on idle, i guess that you mean this is your idle speed.
      what makes you think 650rpm is what it should be? any specs on that.
