    Love the Xterra videos! I have had mine for 10 years and learned a lot from your expertise. I wish I was able to watch this video 10 years ago.
    A request for future video- motor mounts replacement. Sounds like they usually should be replaced around 100K on this vehicle, and if that engine starts to settle it can cause your cat's to go which is very expensive! Thank you!

    Any chance you can go through a video of how to hunt down and test all the ground wires? I've had headlights that oscillate dim/bright for years. Now dealing with a P0301 code and P0420 code and one of those whispers of bad grounds causing these issues. Makes no sense & I don't know where or how to trace grounds and test.

    Ry, hopefully you see or read this! Have you ever had to replace the IPDM in your xterra? Currently have issue of not turning over, not starting. Luckily I was able to get home and park her before she crapped the 🛌.
    Checked starter, works fine, checked relay and fuse for ignition and starter, all fine, replaced the battery, cold start it puts out 12.64 dcV, so plenty of power to start. Cleaned elec connection with new battery so no dirty terminals etc. The high fan kicks on, while hear one small click when key gets turned to start the motor. Also all the lights on the dash light up, so I am betting it is IPDM . Have you dealt with a dead or bad IPDM before? Does my problem sound familiar? Let me know thanks man love the videos!

      @@austingillem5312 oh shit, forgot I posted this.... so after checking starter motor, the ipdm, ignition, new battery, multiple fuses and relays, it turned out to be a 20 amp I fuse thay I didn’t check.. I was close to giving up and calling a mechanic, but had a feeling to check the ecu fuse and bingo, fixed it.. man that was so stressful

But there is this thing mounted on a bracket that has one end with some electrical going through the firewall, the other end has a cable that goes to the engine block. Here's a suggestion for your next Xterra video.
    Coolant hose replacement.
    A video to show the replacement of all coolant system hoses, not just the upper & loser radiator hoses, but replacement of all of them.
    I heard somewhere there were up to 14 of them.
    Also you could cover replacement of the plastic heater hose inlet ( the replacement is now aluminum ) and the outlet which is also plastic and often breaks.
    It's very difficult to even know what there is by looking at parts diagrams.
    Also go over the coolant .... do a flush .... and explain the difference between the old green and newer blue formulations.

    Hey Ry
    Maybe you can help me with my 08 xterra. Between the upper right quandron and lower right quandron, below the air filter box and the brake reservoir, there is a rubber hose not plugged into anything. I can't tell if it's part of the air intake system or air conditioning lines or what. I followed the hose and it looks like it goes down towards the bottom right side of the engine. I was hoping this video would get a good view of that area of your xterra so I could compare. Do you have any idea of what this mystery rubber hose could be?

      Yes. Sounds like you have 4 wheel drive? That hose is going to be the breather tube for your front differential. If you follow it and it goes to your front diff then it's ok that it's not plugged into anything. It's not supposed to be.

    • @jmac-rz6zc
      @jmac-rz6zc 2 года назад +1

      Yeah. 4 wheel drive. I will follow that hose again to see for sure if it comes from the front diff.
      One other thing I noticed was your collant overflow resevoir right below the cap has a small rubber hose. i don't have that hose, only the stem piece. I looked for a detached hose down below in the wheel well and couldn't find anything. Any idea?

    Your videos have helped me a lot. I have the exact same Xterra. I recently ran into a issue with mine and was wondering if you have any advise. I got a new throttle body and did the relearning process after I installed it a few times. Now when ever I turn my vehicle on, it starts on a really high idle and after warming up it then will keep idling up and down from 1000rpm to 2000rpm constantly. I checked for any codes and none have popped up at all. I’m not quite sure on what I should do or check next. Any advise or possible video would be appreciated very much.
    Thank you.

      Hi Joshua, I have an '05. The local shop did an install for me and had the same problem. We must have run through the relearn 100 times!! I was forced to drive the vehicle...revs. ramping up and down at every stop light...to the dealership. They fixed it in 10 minutes!

      I would prefer not to pay the 90$ to get it checked and then do it my self. Would you happen to know what was wrong with yours.was it just the relearning process? Or something else.

      joshua montoya I presume Nissan have a better “relearn” than messing with the key!

    What year is your xterra? Have you replaced the Radiator? Are you worried about the SMOD problem?

    Hey question if your rpm are high do you have to clean the throttle body

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  4 года назад

      Yes I would clean it and then do the throttle relearn procedure. You can find that here: ruclips.net/video/B65UAHHVN3o/видео.html

    I bought an 07 Xterra a couple months ago with 180k miles on it. It does not have the pink milkshake, but how do I make sure it won’t happen? Could the previous owner have put a more modern radiator in it? The carfax said that the radiator was replaced recently, are modern radiators better?

    • @jackiebundren693
      @jackiebundren693 3 года назад

      Definitely replace radiator and hose, if not already replaced. Nissan used a hose connecting transmission to radiator that has failed enough times for recall. I have had my 2007 x since 2009, right at 100k miles mine needed new radiator and new transmission

    • @jackiebundren693
      @jackiebundren693 3 года назад

      Wouldn't hurt to have it checked to be sure, but most did fail around 100k miles, mines almost at 180k now, next is timing chain replacement. The tensioner guides on secondary chain fail bc they are made of plastic, making your car "whine" when running. If not replaced, can mess up whole engine

    Hey man I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra, I was wondering if you can help me out with something. My dash always gives me a VDC off and slip light and I don’t know what that means and also I press on the vdc button but it does not turn on or off, just remains on, on my dash. Please and thanks👍🏻

      Probably have to replace your clockspring... Fairly common with the Xterra. Throw a scanner on it and it should give you some codes to start with.

    Hey Ry. I've had a problem with my 2006 xterra and haven't been able to solve it for the past 2 weeks. The rpm are at 600 doesn't accelerate after the 2nd shift. Changed the intel manifold because it made a weird noise, the maf sensor and still nothing, could you give me some advise. Thank you

      It sounds like your truck might be in “limp mode”. This is an event where one of your vehicles control unit fails. Is your MIL on? If so you need to pull the code and research it. Otherwise you would need to get it to a professional and they would use what’s called the CAN system in your truck to figure out what’s going on.
