Interesting. My SnS Para build that's been buried in the cellar has an open gem slot on all 5 armor pieces. If I can somehow roll myself to Para Lvl.5 I will definitely start investing some WGS into that weapon.
Very cool AFK mini-game feature that's going to encourage me to take the stairs instead of the elevator, park the car a little further away and go for that extra walk after dinner.

Good video mate. If i am correct, you need to walk 5 km to have one fragment. With 100 fragments you have one gem with 1/3 possibility to unlock one point of the hability you want. So you need to walk 500 km and use 100 stones to have 1/3 of getting the hability. And you need to walk 1.500 km to have 1/3 x 3 chance to get it. Pretty hard.

Since I can’t driftsmelt any armor pieces I *actually* want (need them at grade 8, not happening anytime soon!), probably going shoot for sneak attack on the tzi armor. It isn’t like I can hoard tons of stones anyway!😅
From what I can tell you can driftsmelt any gear that’s grade 5 and up
@@doopness785 depends. Some are 8+, some are 5+.
If it was meta it would have been one of the 5 exclusive skills that are hard to get 😂

Driftsmelting has definitely gave me a goal in game now. First plan is to slowly open up the sets that have little flexibility over getting new skills.
I'm finding the combination of aggro dodger and sneak attack with long shell type GL to be quite satisfying.

Good video…and good warnings too! It’ll already be a struggle to get armor to grade 8 to even *consider* driftsmelt grinding, so you’re certainly better off getting your weapons up to snuff and your base armor set sorted out first!😉
…but still…it is kinda of fun to theory-craft, and I might shoot for my potential ice +5, W.E. +5, crit eye +5 set some day…months and months from now!😅

Thankfully for some builds you can work on some armor pieces since early. Or at least your "in between" builds. Like i don't have a grade 6 coral pukei pukei waist. So I have to use more pieces for my LBG build and ALL the armor pieces that doesn't have lvl 2 recoil, reload, or lvl 1 of each (coral waist) can be worked on right now. I'm starting with my barroth's boots.
Yepee i got thunder attack on my zingore vambraces with now thunder 3. Question... Can i roll smelt again to get another thunder plus one to make that one armor piece a thunder 4?

I was sitting on 46 WGS, so I went ahead and upgraded four armor pieces on my main set, the 5th was unlocked below 8. I can get away with one set since I use the Black Diablos hammer, so I don’t need element attack. I figure I’ll work a piece at a time until I get what I want (or something decent) then move to the next. So it’s a long term project. Hoping to get rid of the -30 affinity on my part breaker/slugger set. 3 critical eye and 2 WEX I figure will be nice. Already have 1 WEX one, and got a special boost and an attack boost on two others. We’ll see how it goes. Have three I’ve smelted via walking already. Wish you could do more than one at a time that way.
Right? Feedback was given for an additional skill leading to Grade 8. So those players got what they wanted lol.
Wonder how well this is gonna work for Bowgun builds. If they gotta put 3 or 4 ele on their reload/recoil armor

I have a question you may already know or may want to test: Is a good new meta to start working on be to try and get a drift skill to add onto a LvL 2 Elemental Attack to get a 3rd LvL on a single piece? That would open up a new slot by getting rid of that LvL 1 max piece for something that can create new skill sets? For my Fire build, my helm/chest/arms (2/1/2) could become a helm/arms (2/3), now my chest can change to critical eye, and when paired with legs for chest/leg (3/2) I now have LvL 5 Fire & LvL 5 Critical Eye. Do you think it will let us stack skills that way to increase each piece's max? Would be really cool, tho...
You can stack them. Tested with Divine blessing and I have Lv. 2 with two separate pieces.
@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS I just got my LvL 2 Fire bracers to LvL 3 Fire bracers! Now I switched my chest to get W.E. Now I gotta get more gear to grade 8 to continue... Grind activated!

Ive honestly been already planning what builds i want to set up with this, albeit they will take quite a while to achieve XD (lots of pale driftstones hahah)
For now just trying to get WEX and Crit eye on my coral helm and kulu greaves respectively.
Then i want to try putting Sneak Att on all three status sneak Tzi Tzi parts, just for that big damage bump added to the status procs.
Imagine Lumu Mail grade 8 with a recoil down gem. Would be amazing

Was going to build a partbreaker lbg build until i realised there are no driftstones with recoil down or reload speed skills. Also dragon attack is not included. Hope those will added with new driftstones.
I was super excited when this feature launched. I was super excited to finally get Focus 5 with Dragon Attack 5, but I saw Dragon Attack wasn't on the list. So I was like, oh well, I guess I'll driftsmelt Focus in. Focus is also not available smh.
Honestly i like this system, it is still something extra that helps fighting monsters. Only thing i don't like a lot is the requirement of grade 8 for some pieces. Considering the time and walk you need to find a good skill it would have been better to allow players to use it from the get go, instead to force them to have grade 8 armor pieces before starting it.
One other thing. I wish the smelted skills could be uniquely chosen for each loadout. Like there are some sets that use the same armor pieces but for optimization, would require different skills. For example, my Azure rath helm. on a bblos bow, I want burst. But on my poison bow build, I’d want sneak attack active. Constantly changing skills is cumbersome a little. That said, I’m not there yet but could potentially be annoying for those going that min/max build for different sets with similar armor pieces.
Needing equipment level 8 for some of them is kinda bullshitty. They should've done level 6 across the board.

Man, got swamp zone 5x in a row ... I'm trying to complete the thunderbug quest, but without giving me forest zines is going to be impossible even logging in every opportunity available (have 2x HaT spots on my house so hence why I want the forest habitat to spawn)
Been playing this game since launch but o ly recently getting into meta stuff. Would you say lock on skill is a must? Or can I afford to use a different skill?
If you get good enough at the gyro yes. But at the same time there’s a lot of cons of not having lock-on (not being able to constantly target weak spots and not being able to see the entire monster to brace for attacks)
After 15+ km my first stone that needed 5km finally opened.
Its the same bugged tracking that Pokémon Go is using.

does these skills stack on top of your gear skills? example if you have burst 5 already does the burst driftgem stack on top or no? Thanks
It won't stack unfortunately. The max still applies with no additional bonuses going over.
Hopefully you can save builds including the skills that you want so you dont have to switch skill for each gear
Is there a star level for the stones to drop? I havent gotten a single one in over 30 8* kills. Its either really rare like wgs or im just unlucky. I check the drop list for mosters and no stones were in the list. 🤔
I got one from 3/4* i forgot and also 6-7*
It’s random but I definitely feel like I’ve gotten more drops from 8 stars and up
so are you able to have 5 active bonus skills if you smelt each armor piece? or does it only allow one single skill throughout all your armor?
Thats correct. Some armor has 2 driftslots though so you can have more than 5, but its not worth going through the hassle as those armor pieces usually suck lol.

I tried it on my Jagras chest with a pale stone first to be safe. On my first try, I got para res & atk 1. Fortunately, I got weakness exploit & def 2 on 2nd try

Don’t insta smelt while you have one cooking. Mine broke and no longer gives progress on the cooker
I’ve done it multiple times and still works while keeping my progress could be a glitch though
If you get a second burst on another piece of armor, please tell us if you can have both active at the same time
Theres nothing suggesting you can't I just tested with Divine Blessing with 1 level on separate pieces. its works lol.

Burst is one of the best skills for raw damage bows. It can also apply to some of the elemental ones like poison. For Black Diablos bow its the best skill for sure to have with it.

Wow, you got a lot of Amber Driftstones too. I've only got one Azure and one Pale, with the rest being Amber. I guess it was because of all the Zinogre hunting?
Anyway, I said it in your first video on the subject, but I'll say it again here:
Going for a "perfect" or "all-purpose" Driftsmelt build is going to be extremely time-consuming, extremely expensive, or most likely both...and *is not worth it unless you're trying to take on the toughest 10-Star monsters.* I have G9.1 or better in all of my main Long Swords, so I can kill most 8* monsters fairly easily, so I don't plan to go out of my way to make super-duper meta builds. Until Monser Hunter Now gives me a reason to hunt 10-Star monsters beyond bragging rights, I'm going to stay at 9-Star.
Also, since you cannot link a Driftsmelt skill to a particular loadout (yet), even when you accomplish getting a point of every different Element Attack on your affinity set, it will still be fairly time-consuming. You'll have to go into your menu, find the skills you want, and then equip them EVERY time you want to hunt a monster with a different elemental weakness. You'll probably spend more time doing that than actually killing the monster.

Got agressive dodger in pale drifstone "any attack performing following a perfect evade has it damage increase by 20/30/40/50/60%" is it worth?
So it only buffs the next attack after perfect evade. It’s not like burst which is 10s.
AD only works on the next 1 hit😂

For your special yes. It can be a lot of fun to use while you’re waiting for what you want, but definitely not meta.
For driftstones, I say go for ice and thunder
incredible feature if it worked. its not tracking distance with adventure sync. rng to get a gem, rng to get distance to smelt it, rng to get the skill you want (theres like 21 skills it can have) swing and a miss niantic.
Yep, it's not the best, just another minigame to spend gems on.
Its literally identical to the same endgame mechanic in Rise Sunbreak. Its not supposed to be easy lol.

Some need only Grade 5 and not Grade 8.
What stars must the monster be for drift stones to drop?
They can drop from any stars! Just got one from 4 and 1 (LOL) yesterday. It does seem like the higher star you slay the better odds you get them. I've gotten more from 8 and 9 star Zinogre versus anything below them.

Right? The thing is the main series game feature that this is based off was the SAME EXACT SYSTEM. They didn’t make anything new that merits you to do more effort than the original MHR mechanic intended.
Actually it’s a completely different team handling MHN otherwise you wouldn’t even get driftsmelting you would have something completely made to drain your wallet try and bug out every 3 minutes.

Nope they can be any star. It does feel like I've gotten more from 8 stars and up versus below though from roasting a ton of Zinogre.

Why do I i get the feeling that Elder Dragons might drop driftstones that have the Focus, Dragon Atk, and whatever skills that are missing. That or amazing skills.
Like... I can see it. Slay these legendary creatures to get way better skills than regular monsters. I mean... I would do it. Not like i haven't done something like that for pogo legendary Pokemon for the rewards.

@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS I mean... it's more incentive and hopefully Elder Dragons aren't a daily one time hunt you can do. If so then the whole you got double everything everyday would add on to the driftstones of being part of loot table.
Because if it ends up if those driftstones, if it happens, from Elder Dragons become potential more powerful from regular boss monsters then we know that Elder Dragon hunting is the permanent meta for the rest of the game. And more pressure on Niantic/Capcom part.
Pokemon Go has Shiny Pokemon and legacy moves if they get released for that year and month. Would the equivalent be for MHNow Elder Dragons? Especially the reward table/loot. Because if--I would have to look at the data leaks again. If Kushala has Kushala Blessing, Teostra has Teostra Blessing(?), and Chameleos has it's own thing, then those specific Elder Dragons should give us exclusive driftstones that correlates to that Monster.
So Kushala Driftstones has a "CHANCE" to give us Kushala Blessing, and so forth with other Elder Dragons of what their exclusives are. So basically you got the PoGo formula right there. Each month has an Elder Dragon(s) you can fight so you can get exclusive skill driftstones from them and hope you get them. But yeah... That's all I got.
Oh. I also wonder if they'll do armor set bonuses too in some form. That or driftstones bonuses on the same armor set. So basically if you have two slots on an armor piece right? And you equip the same stone from a particular monster, you get this small bonus from said creature. I.e. Two stones from Pukei-Pukei gives poison damage or poison attack. Kushala with Kushala Blessing with some increased bonus. And what not.~

Already hunted over 50 monsters and only got 3 gems. And if I use a gem I get a random skill. Not exactly great to be honest.
It's the grindiest minigame ever. So it's More focused on high Tier level players, those ones that already have their fav weapons maxed AND wants to Start upgrading armor.
I don't even know if walking counts if you're not using the phone because I don't want it on all day.

Its Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak again oh god.. I had 1.7K hours in that game and still have not gotten all the skill I want, headache.

After getting a drift stone it can pretty much only be used on grade 8 gear. This feature is completly pointless to those of use not raising gear past skill unlock reqs. What a waste of a good feature forcing players to play a certain way to be able to use the feature.
It was a rise sun break endgame feature. So for sure it’s a postgame mark that you’ll need to go hard for and hope to get lucky. Decs are still coming though so this is just something to give you options before then.
I got burst on my FIRST ROLL. Its supposed to be hard. If you can't it don't use it or just stop playing lol. The game isn't meant for you if you can't adapt to it.

@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS but you have to admit it is forcing you to play a certain way. And there are those of us that enjoy more challenging content. If I raise all my gear to grade 8+ that’s going to loose out on fun and challenging battles. I don’t want to be able to tank hits. I just want to avoid them and get my adrenaline going knowing that if I take one hit I’m dead. It’s just kind of boring when you can tank hits.
The game isn't forcing you to driftsmelt. It would be really sleezy if you needed Driftstone gear to take out 8 or 9 star monsters. But the reality is you can still take out a majority of endgame content without it.
Besides decorations arent out yet. Thats going to likely be much easier than Quarious Crafting was.

Not entirely sure...I've noticed for me it does. But more on that later.
