Hunter's Unity is one of the few skills that can strengthen shelling damages; And I'm quite sure you can never smelt it, while you can probably smelt artillery in the future. So, i don't think Kushala GL is that bad in the long run, since long GL is highly depend on charged shelling. just like every high-ranking hunter is using Zinogre weapons when facing Kushala and Deviljho now. Finding a team using Hunter's Unity would not be a problem in the near future when facing strong monsters that are weak to ice. Also, building Kushala GL doesn't necessarily mean you can't build any other GL. That's not the trade-off. At least GL has better compatibility than most of the Kushala weapons. With your logic, Kushala weapons are unusable, then?

I’ve done one huntathon and got a bone lance ticket so using that now grade 3 5/5, i know it’s a low weapon compared to what everyone of u using but I just got excited to get a Grade 3 weapon even haha You say “bone gunlance is good” but shows an item called bone cannon, is that the same or does it change name or what does that mean m?
I just refer to the bone cannon as "bone gunlance" haha! In the early game, I suggest focusing on weapons you can upgrade fast. These weapons are the bone weapons (like the bone cannon). You can craft kulu and girros weapons and you can use them against all the monsters. For elemental weapons, you can start with jagras and tobi weapons. Jagras weapons will be great since a lot of the early monsters are weak to water. Then you can use the jagras weapons to farm and craft tobi weapons to fight the more difficult monsters like rathian and rathalos later on. These monsters I've mentioned will be easy to farm and you can easily upgrade their weapons. After that you can start to build elemental weapons and armor sets for more damage once you unlock 6 star monsters. Hope this helps! My older videos might contain outdated info. So sad that Kushala’s is the shunlance. Shun 😔. I’m leveling up the elementals to max 7 first. I’m a little weary of investing materials into the bone GL, simply because the meta will probably change and updates might affect shelling damage in the future. It’s definitely strong, but not an immediate priority for me personally since my CB sets can cover 8* monsters.
@@PauwerPlays I made Kushala’s CB for fun, but yea. I can be fine with upgrading it to max 7, but I’m pretty sure the requirements are gonna be heavy for 8 and above. Haven’t looked it up yet though. I’m nearly finished with leveling up Basarios greaves to 6 to match my armor sets, and my Zin CB is 2 rarity 6 drops away from the mat requirement for being fully maxed out.
Is anyone else having a problem where the wyrmstake shot bounces off the monster and explodes in the dirt? My opening salvo, with a normal type GL, has been combo straight into Wyrmshot after doing a few single shells. That had been effective until the shot started bouncing off. Am I missing some key element, here?
@alejandrotumpayvigil4939 deviljho gl only has artillery +1. My reason is that you can easily get bone gl to grade 10 and get more damage faster. The deviljho gunlance is harder to upgrade but if you manage to get it to grade 10. It will have more damage than the bone gl since we can only get max artillery 3 from armor piece for now. But in the future if we can get artillery 5 from armor piece the bone and the deviljho gl will just have the same shelling damage. So its just a matter of which one is easier to upgrade for me haha
I love using the bone GL for Monsters which are hard to damage with other weapons, like Barroth due to it's mud armor, Radobaan with his bones and Basarios since he's a walking rock. To just ignore all those defensive perks is so much fun and makes them really easy. Also TziTzi is easier since you can block the flash and break its head easier. Pushed my GL right until 7.5 as fast as I could and will wait with rank 8 until I get enough wyvern gem shards to upgrade all my main sets to grade 8 to use driftsmelding and will then push all my weapons further (except Zinogre, Kushala and Deviljho weapons as they have their own red item and dont use w. gem shards)
I hope shelling in the main series become this good. Is kinda refreshing. Right I'm way too low HR as to upgrade any weapon beyong grade 8, so I'll just work on g=farming armor and getting other Gunlances.
The deviljho gunlance is a great option since it has artillery at grade 8. The only problem is its harder to upgrade to grade 10. The main advantage of the bone gunlance is its easy to upgrade and boost its shelling damage
Somehow I feel like shelling is going to be nerfed in the future. It just seems crazy to me that a basic weapon like the bone gunlance can be so powerful even without any armor skills to support it. FAR and away the best beginner weapon, I imagine this just trivializes the difficulty spike going from 5 star monsters to 6 stars since you can upgrade it without any r5 materials. I have it at grade 7.1 and with only focus 4 and artillery 1 I can clap any 7 star monster relatively safely. Blocking roars and flashes just feels like a bonus too and I’m sure a few levels in guard will make it even easier. Have to wait and see I guess.
Yeah shelling is pretty insane right now. The charge shelling playstyle is also very powerful and relatively safe. I hope they dont change the gunlance too much just balance it a bit haha
Doing this right this very second. I'm limited by story - Can't G6 bone until you finish Chapter 12, which is where I'm at, having used the bone GL from basic quests to roflstomp story. Only started a few days ago. Really loving being able to build up mats to get other weaponsets lined up.
Gunlance has always been that way; it only seems OP to someone who hasn't seen the natural progression of a Monster Hunter game. Shelling gets to ignore a lot of things like hitzones, or having to depend on a bunch of skills, but it suffers from the fact it's damage can only be scaled and increased by a handful of things. This seems powerful when everyone can only fit 5 element and a handful of skills into their gear, or wex/burst for raw weapons. It gets a whole lot less powerful when bŭilds read out like novels, and people have full WEX, 100% crit, crit boost, etc etc etc. Shelling scales with none of these things and gets left behind. This has been the case in nearly every single major mainline Monster Hunter title, with shelling needing to be buffed in the endgame of the last two. The natural progression of the game and the power scaling of our characters act as an inherent nerf to shelling. This will become more apparent as other melee weapons get to stack crit skills that take them to the moon. Shelling is fine.
@@leonfrancis3418 True, we’ll have to see if we get actual decorations soon or just get stuck with gacha-smelting. Builds are gonna be crazy in the future if we get a proper decoration system although I imagine it will also be a pain in the ass/heavily monetized feature too. I feel the same way about nerfs in general, I don’t think bow should have been nerfed but I believe it happened because potions are a money maker. That’s why I see it happening with shelling, it’s too safe and doesn’t require a lot of farming to get a good shelling build online with the bone gunlance. Maybe it would be a soft nerf like scaling shelling damage with each specific lance or weapon level instead of just grade. At the end of the day it is a mobile game and their main goal is that $$$.
If you ignore the rareness of materials. That depends on your playing style. Pink Rathian is better if you use thrust and wyrmstake more. If you focus on burst fire and poisoning, go for Rathian.
Its great but it's gonna be difficult to overgrade and i already invested my jho stuff on the lance 😅 Im sure in the future we will get other artillery armor pieces so no need to invest in jho. But if you like the long playstyle then go for it!

Imma be real, unless mhn damage calculations is different than any of the main line games, gl does not care about element. It’s shelling type, shelling level (main line), and raw. Wide is best for spamming shelling and normal is best for burst (my two personal favorites) long is charge shot and wyvern fire. As long as you can kill the monster, that’s all that should matter really.
Rathian or pink rathian is better?
Pink rath with higher raw but it's gonna be difficult to upgrade
If you ignore the rareness of materials.
That depends on your playing style. Pink Rathian is better if you use thrust and wyrmstake more. If you focus on burst fire and poisoning, go for Rathian.
What about extra artillery from deviljho lvl8 and above?
Its great but it's gonna be difficult to overgrade and i already invested my jho stuff on the lance 😅
Im sure in the future we will get other artillery armor pieces so no need to invest in jho. But if you like the long playstyle then go for it!
Is focus useful for long shells?
@danielhovan6607 yes it helps. I showcased the effects of focus on my gulance guide
long range charge shots at g6 make 8 star easy
Yeah and it's so safe too!
Do you have a Discord Server? If so, can I join?
Im planning on making one just havent gotten to it haha 😅
can gunlance offensive guard?
Yes but it wont buff shelling
@@PauwerPlays then what does?
@@genautelevishn5999 artillery, sneak attack, hunter unity. Any skill that says increases "damage" not "attack"
what a clickbait title
Sorry gotta play the youtube game haha 😅
@@PauwerPlays Funnily enough, the content is great, but I almost forced myself never to click on this video due to the title. But MH Now content is pretty sparse on RUclips.
So, congrats for the content! But you might be losing interested viewers due to the clickbait tactics.
What is your opinion on raw barroth gunlance? Do you think its viable as a raw wide GL?
Personally not a fan of raw wide. Wide gl have great wyrmstakes and without element, it's missing out on some huge dps
@@PauwerPlays thanks for the insight.
I’m saying this at a minute into the video and I’m still watching, so I might learn something new bout mhn damage calculations since some of the comments are talking about element. If element matters in mhn, then color me impressed.
@@lunamayham Im looking for a build for spamming shells and wrymstake. I believe wide is the best for that but mhn have limited raw wide GLs. Regarding the element I think pauwerplays is refferring to the wyrmstake shot it applies alot of element damage.
@@lunamayham MHN damage calculation always different than other games in the series.
In MHN, all GL blast damages ignore raw/element; All GL sever damages includes raw&weakness element(some monsters even ×1.5 elemental damage). Wrymstake cannon does sever damages(the last hit is blast).
The music on the background is really distracting me... even when it is soft...
Sex sex SEX! Now that I've got your attentions... The best LONG GL by a LONGshot is the deviljho... Once you hit g8 it's 10 percent stronger than any other GL. -Affinity doesn't matter because the shells don't crit. And Dragon element doesn't matter because even though the raw is lower it'll hit the same raw as any other GL except with 10 percent more damage. So... Djho G8 GL is by far the best GL for Long type GLs.

Aw it's all good. You'll just have a hard time upgrading it haha
