    i remember stumbling accorss the the formula as kid and jusing it to work out what weapon i should get to fight against scarred yian gurarga in MHF1. with that i kept the basic rules when trying to sort out what weapon i would use for a hunt( e.g. deviding 10% of the element and adding that to the ture raw to see what is more beneficial - assuming the resistance is 2 star or higher). I'm surprised how little the damage calculations have changed since then.
    Great video btw

    Sweet spot multiplier for some weapons should also be included. It's not huge but it's still included in the calculation.

    Some other things that can affect damage: Eating a meal with meat (attack up), Hunting Horn or Palico buffs (these stack with consumable items), the wake-up hit on a sleeping monster (deals double damage), and if you have Iceborne, using the clutch-claw to wound a monster part (increasing the Hit Zone Value)
    Damage number bloat is annoying, especially since every weapon has a different multiplier. Damage number bloat was removed in Rise and hopefully we won't have to deal with this nonsense moving forward in the series.
    p.s. could you do one more 31 damage draw attack? I'm not sure you showed it enough. bless

      Instead of letting people watch a much needed explanation of the game you are discouraging them from learning. You are being part of the reason why 90% of the playerbase doesn't understand anything in the game. Just knowing what to do is often not enough for people, they need to know why exactly they are using the skills they are using. Let people learn

    I think this video would be greatly improved by a segment at the beginning that breaks down the formula into build specific variables and play specific variables, and then gives a brief overview before demonstrating each.
    And in that vein, it was a big L adding the motion values back into the final comparison, as it completely obscures the actual difference in build. You should have done naked vs fully skilled on post, then shown basic slash vs tenderized TCS on the Iceborne dummy.

      Couple of smaller notes; I would have liked a more thorough explanation of sharpness vs raw, and that title card really needed to be three lines long, not four. It makes it seem like a middle schooler's first class project. Not trying to discourage you, I just think that a few small changes would much better support the parts that are already good. 👍

    We have comparasion 91 to 855 in the end. But to different weak point and with different move
    It's very curious how All Skills and items in your last tamage build affects the damage to Same part with Same move.
    Its important to know! Why you didn't just hit the same barell with your quick strike in the end?
    What is the point to always hit twice to check the number? Wou know the number. You can just show us once. In this case video would be shoter and informative...

    • @Skye1813
      @Skye1813  18 дней назад +3

      @@AlienLordable the point was to apply everything talked about in the video, so we go from no buffs to attack, without a crit, on a low hitzone part with a low motion value move to the opposite. I hit the barrels twice for confirmation as the Greatsword has 'sweet spots' where the damage can change depending on where you hit with the weapon

    • @AlienLordable
      @AlienLordable 18 дней назад +2

      @@Skye1813 Okay, i understand how damage is calculated. In last part of video you told us about very useful skills and items to maximise damage. And also show us very cool build. This is not only about just formula - this is about effectivnes. How far can i go to increase my damage.
      For example you and i have same weapon and try to kill same monster (separetely) You have very effective build and i dont. Mut moster and it's body parts are the same, weapon the same and we both use same movies to fight. How many times your damage will be higher than mine? 855/91 is 9.4 times highier. But WHY wou compare two different movies? You can compare this weak Uncharged draw attack to True Charged Slash and the difference will be much more than 9.4. And so what? This isnt tell how exacly your cool build is stronger than naked. And this is interesting question!
      Just hit the same burrell with Uncharged draw attack in tell us the number!

      "Some weapons have sweet spots that can make small changes to the damage, and new players wouldn't know that."
      "Why do you make sure to do more than one hit when you check the damage?"
