Was looking at one today. My ? is why not remove the screen from the inlet side since the outlet will filter any debris, and use the other screen as a replacement when cleaning the old?

thanks for the question. The first screen slows the oil down to "catch" it as it were. So it will stay in the can. If the first screen was removed the second may slow the oil but oil would still reenter the engine and not be as efficient as both screen being installed. The more the air/oil is slow down(has to change direction) it will remove the oil from the air.
