Nice video, very helpful. Thank you. Just to let you know, they are not “handles”, but safety guards. They are there to make sure you don’t lower the lifting arms onto somebody’s foot. Please be extra careful if you have removed them.
I bought a single post lift after moving from a building I owned that had a 10,000 pound capacity drive on lift. The single post is good in small shops for sure. The only issue I had with it was once I had the column get stuck, it wouldn't lower. It was because I had the car a little too much to the front when I lifted it. It's a bit hard to tell where the center of gravity is on a car as you position the lift under it. I bought 4 high lift jack stand thinking that I would put the car on them and remove the lift because much of the work I do involves rust repair and having the car on the lift has the lift in the way some times so getting it out from under is good. I got the car to go down after I figured out that it was wedging by putting a number of bays of coal in it to shift the weight to the rear and that made it no longer wedged and it came down. Good luck with your business!
Well, based on this excellent review, and the fact that I already have an Automotech AS-6745P, 4 poster hoist which is very good quality, I decided to buy one of these as well. I can confirm exactly what is described in this review. Everything lined up, everything needed was in the kit, there were no screws missing and it works perfectly. I can confirm though that the component sections are very, very, heavy and we had the luxury of a fork lift on site, but without one I think you would require 4 people and need to be very careful when moving parts about. Following the advice in the video, I bought oil and cable in advance and I think the entire job from unpacking it from its transit frame to testing took about five hours, but if you had to do it again you could do it in about three hours. I have now bought four car skates and an engine hoist from Automotech as cannot find better value anywhere. The only thing about them is they are a nightmare to get on the phone, blaming Covid and staff shortages, but if I had not bought from them before, I may have not bought due to the contact issues, although I can confirm they are a good, genuine firm and think this equipment is brilliant quality and great value for money. Happy with the results.
I built ours with just myself & my father with no forklift or lifting equipment apart from a couple of trolley jacks, ratchet straps and old pallets. It took all day, but we got there with no trips to the hospital. Never again though.
Thanks mate!!! Just decided the lift I'm going to buy. 2 post was big and had to screw it on the floor. Scissor lift had not enough lifting height, only 100cm to 110cm most. This single post looks ideal. The reason I buy it is because I own six cars, wife and daughters 3, so I got tired changing oil and filters with a floor jack. Should have done this long time ago.... Again, a big thanks for your time sharing this review.
yes this was a really useful video, Ive been looking at buying one of these and wasn't sure if they were stable, But thanks to your review I can see they are. Thank you
Excellent review and what a great little lift! I was very pleased to see you actually lift a vehicle as part of the review, i was almost giving up until it happened near the end of the video, so well done! Just the thing for diy car enthusiasts to work safely on our vehicles. Presumably you can use this outside depending on wind conditions, or do they state this isn’t allowed?
Some 2 post lifts are portable enough to shift when not using . These can carry say 500kgs more and does not interfere with under floor area as much . But really depends on what your doing . A portable unit needs a clean level surface . I almost bought a single post . This unit is a good one .
Just got a AMGO SL 7000# for $4900 including the $600 delivery charge and it's exactly like this one. 15 amp on 110 volt. I love it and just keep the oil line from the bottom of the cylinder safe from the weight of the post while it's horizontal, it will crush the black oil line if you expose it, tape it from getting under it before raising the tower upright.
Thank you for taking the time to make this review. Must say I'm getting annoyed by the high number of interruptions by adverts (1 at the beginning and 3 interruptions in this 13.5 minute video) that are being shoved at us now since Google bought RUclips.
Hi, I have a 2 post lift from Automotech, remarkable quality for the price. Also have one of their tyre machines, engine crane, coil spring press and other bits and bobs from them. Have had tyre changer for about five years now, and no problems at all. Where else could you kit out a workshop for such a great price?
Well done with the video. I got myself a 2 post h base lift from them and so far its great. Ive done a review and installation video on my one as well.
I have the same exact lift and feel I need to add a comment. If you have a low ground clearance car like a Porsche, there is no way the front spoiler will clear the pedestal tube. I will come in contact with the tube period. I had to build a ramp to allow the front of the car to clear before the front wheel start lifting the whole car. If you try to push a 3000lbs car onto the ramp good luck, and if you drive the car over the tube this is when disaster will strike, ask me how I know. The other neat thing about this design is you cant open the driver side door while you go over the pedestal because of the vertical post, unless you decide to back it in(not a good idea. Other thing to mention is that the two front and rear wheels on the driver side always clear the pedestal so the car goes on the ramp with a tilt because the two front wheels are not level to each other, which make things interesting with all kinds of scrapping sounds underneath. Once the 2 front wheels clear the pedestal, the car comes down and remains level. The way to remedy the fun factor or going over the pedestal would be 2 long aluminum ramps slightly wider than your tire and then drive the car over the pedestal smoothly. I insist on using aluminium because once the car is up you will walk around underneath looking up and fall on your face when your foot comes in contact with the ramp. So they need to be removed and put away as soon as the car is up. Other than that it works ok. Last thing when you torque bolts or crack bolts the whole car shakes and dip a little bit to make things more interesting.
Thanks a lot for the information . I just bought one and I am about to assemble it...I will try to make a video and post it on my channel also! Hopefully everything goes well. 🙏
Glad I never made a video when I assembled mine. Trying to lift up that main beam with pallets and bits of wood was a accident waiting to happen. A forklift would have made it easy, but don't have one.
Great, very helpful video, a dream to watch for someone looking at such product for the first time, Thanks!! I work on sportscars that are lower to the ground than Zoe, do you think I would still manage to pick one up, if I use the platform to ride on and no adapters to lower the pads' height to minimum?
If you have a look at the Automotech website, they show you all the dimensions and the height of the feet on this lift. It should be ok, but maybe you'll have to use some lengths of timber so the wheels don't drop back down to the ground when you drive over the ramps.
Fabulous bit of kit! Amazed at stability on such a modest footprint. Seems astonishingly well priced too. When will you be doing servicing and saving me a trip to Swindon?
this is very nice... for the US interests... 1800 pounds price.. about 2500 dollars... lifts 1755 mm about. 5.75 ft/inches... 2500kg lift weight of about 5500 lbs.
@@fitpastprime8543 hey man, yes I did. I got mine from Daytona up here in Ontario. It's a great lift for doing cars and light trucks, I haven't had any issues with mine and have been using it almost daily.
Hi...an excellent vid, thank you. I'm trying to work out a way to store motorcycles, and found thus manufacturers motorcycle lift, which is also a big bit of kit, and has to be bolted to the floor. With a suitable steel plate on the platform, do you think this would store a couple of motorbikes.... With 2 more underneath??
I can't see why not. The only issue could be the height. Because you're lifting the car from the body, the wheels hang on the suspension which would reduce the clearance for the car underneath.
Just wondering how you found the lift when working on it. Doing suspension work often makes the vehicle shake a alot. How is the balancing factor. The thought of it toppling over 😢
I've not needed to do suspension work, apart from droplinks because all the vehicles I work on are newer. But yes, it can wobble a bit which does feel scary at first, but you get used to it. I've never had an issue with the lift and have put all sorts of vehicles on it, including a Model S, see ruclips.net/video/txGcCoj9b-4/видео.htmlsi=4p7LgmJYc5q_td9b
I wish i had seen this before i bought mine.. It isn't all that more expensive than the lift I have. But mine is smaller, doesn't raise as high. It's manually operated and the gearing means it takes forever to operate up / down....

Hi, great video, just curious how you got on with moving this to the other location in the trailer? Just as I am planning on trying to move mine to another location without disassembling it, was it difficuilt to load on to the trailer? Did you have to winch it on? Thanks

They're 11cm tall. Personally I always move the lift up to a vehicle. It is so manoeuvrable, it easier to do it this way. You'll be moving it slightly anyway most of the time if you drove over it.
