One of the things I've always loved about Blur is ALEX. He always looks SO cool whenever he is on stage or performing or in video, just standing there all refined and hardly moving, and looking above it all like he doesn't give a s***, usually with a cigarette and his hair over his eyes. He's fascinating.
One of the things that impressed me when a I was a teenager on the 90s is How High Damon can jump..amazing..hahahaha,..and I remember seeing this video again.
I recorded an episode of Top of the Pops and this was on there. One of my earliest memories when I was 5/6 was jumping around with my brother on the bed to this
Love the chorus , where he sings .. “Yes , they’re stereotypes, there must be more to life” .. then it sounds like they go into a completely different song wtf.
i dont think i have ever loved someone so much! or had such a hard time knowing which one i love more Damon! or Graham! but wow Damon in this... wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMO The Great Escape is the best Blur album. A lot of people dismissed it as too misanthropic and yeah, with tracks like this, 'Best Days', 'He Thought Of Cars', and the absolute pinnacle of human hatred 'Entertain Me' it's easy to see why. But that's the beauty of it, I love how dark it gets truly a beautiful album.
hot take... the only thing good about that album is how well they play their instruments, specially the bass lines are killer.. but the lyrics and themes are too edgy. looks like a teenager trying to criticize everyone he sees as 'wrong', how the society is 'wrong' and blablabla know-it-all... Damon still does it from time to time to be honest
Bangin' tune, bangin' album. My uncle bough me the album for one of my birthdays when this album was fresh, i was about 10 or 11, when I got older I appreciated it more.
I'd completely forgotten about this song until it played as I was walking home. I hadn't heard it for nearly thirty years when it used to play at the fast food restaurant I worked at when I was in uni. Now I'm obsessed with it and missing the days working at a fast food restaurant. Fun times! We were permanently smashed and/or high.
So here's my thing 1994 Park life I was 21 and dating this very hot 28 yr old , recently divorced and keen to teach . I am not 100% sure why but That album just seemed such a slab of ' English life, but with fun times Bank Holiday, Girls N boys , Early 95 now single, I get my life together, and go back to college then The Great Escape comes out and it REALLY feels like the party is over, so many songs on the sad side of society for this track, to better days, fade away unrelenting in unlikable characters Top Man, Charmless man etc BUT I love it. I live in Ireland now and I think only Blur and The Kinks make me feel homesick, such a slice of English life, wether seedy, heartbreaking or unlikable, English none the less. Great band
@@tomgat6314 yeah but they never seem to get as much love as anyone else in a band. normally from the bands i listen to, the guitarist and singer are the most popular and nobody seems to know there’s a drummer.
Don't worry, you're not alone. It's happening the same to me. I've always loved Country house for instance. But is now that truly felt in love with them
Hannah Nowell This is maybe only relevant to maybe the first album and a few songs afterwards. There's a lot of depth in most of their songs. You must have only heard a few of the singles or something. Otherwise, I don't know how someone can think this.
This song has always felt quite weird to me in terms of Blur's overall discography. It kinda sounds like a prototype to the songs they'd make in 1996 that lead to the release of their 1997 self-titled album...especially songs like All We Want. Yet at the same time, it's smothered in that britpoppy, third-person lyrical style, and wacky, comic sounds and rhythms. It's like they're trying to make a darker, rougher, less commercial song, but at the same time are clinging to their Parklife ideals.
Each album they try to make different from the last. For this album it was tough because they were making the great escape album in the peak of the parklife album’s popularity. They were still on that high and had a tougher time trying to break from their successful zz-ish vibe(which was probably enforced thru the pressures of the record label).
One of my bands in the 90s were "Yen" and our sound was into Albarn-Coxon style, although we've been fed with 60s from Gerry and Pacemakers to Electric Prunes. So was 1995 when Yen played hits like "Disillusion", "Pathetic", "Patio Pat", "Goodbye" and was right before Blur released "Country House" when we played "Calypso". Our surprise was when we've got "Great Escape" album and "Stereotypes" was just like our song. Maybe a coincidence coz Damon and I have the same age and both n2 cartoon tunes
Esta canción me fascina. Vi Blur el 26 de febrero de 1996 en Madrid, España. Sala la Riviera. Uno de los mejores momentos de mis 44 años❤ Blur son los jefazos. Para los fanáticos de Damon después fue Gorillaz
lol, i forgot all about this video. It was shot in the Autumn of 1995 in the Gmex arena Manchester... I was there, it was my first "proper" gig. I was obsesed with blur and it was so i exciting. I was just a chubby 15 year old derp, lol. I remember the signs around the arena telling us that "this evenings performance will be featured on Blurs next video"... I got myself on the front row hoping to be seen... But no :( I did get to finger some bird in the toilets though... Thanks Blur :D
I love how Damon just jumps around like a crazy person and Alex just stands there like I don't give a shit
Raccoon Rebellion LMAO TRUE
Ikr Damon is such a fucking spaz and I love it.
He usually shakes his head
Just like The Who. John Entwistle is the cool calm bass player.
I'll only like when it isn't 666
I keep going on Blur marathons before I go to sleep.

That is exactly what I’m doing right now

Drummers are underrated
He's the only one that lives a normal life in the band I think works for the police force now
Actually he is an attorney
Apollo the band
What about Alex. He makes cheese 🧀
Watch Blurs interview with Nardwuar you wont like dave after that
i cant describe how much i love blur

Melissa Garcia GOD GRAHAM COULD SLAP ME

Damon is like the loveliest guy to walk the face of the earth man
This is definetly my favourite song of Blur. Moments like watching this video make me wish I lived in the 90s

Did you mean "He's so high"?
Nepodstatný člověk great reference lol
Damon: *acting like an absolute crackhead*
The rest of blur: “don’t worry this is normal.”
Why’s this true?
he's so ENERGETIC..
I'm obsessed with Damon!! seriously is very beautiful!!

Stick Damon Albarn in it
Yeah
People never change haha

At like 2:00 right
that's my least favourite thing about the song... the break sounds kinda kitsch
2:07 haha it's like they're trying to confuse people that it's buffering :D
+Suze97 just fits with the song
I'm pretty sure when they did this video back in the 90s, it was for MTV and they had no idea of the world problem of internet lagging.
i dont think i have ever loved someone so much! or had such a hard time knowing which one i love more Damon! or Graham! but wow Damon in this... wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best band in UK ever! They are just sooo talented. I still love this song that is one of the most fantastic tuens from their early era.

Damon Albarn is so funny when he acts hyperactive in this video.

Omg I am uncomfortable
Few people can doubt my heterosexuality. well Damon is one of those people
Lmaoo
Always thought Damon looks very pretty when he jumps around like that
20 years later and I think this song is their best out of their 6-7 albums. Even better than my fave Beetlebum back then.
the part at 0:47-0:55 is the best

Blur showed you can be popular by singing random stuff in songs and not taking yourself seriously!
all the songs have a meaning, wtf are u talking about man
