The pie recipe on the Libby pumpkin can made just as written, is my families favorite. The spices are just right. Of course I’m sure there are some who will turn their nose up, but that’s what makes life interesting, we are all different. Love your cooking videos and good luck on your new job. Peggy
One of the things with the Pumpkin Pie is I use Carnation Evaporated Milk, not the Sweetened Condensed Milk. I use the Libby’s Pumpkin Pie recipe, but I use the refrigerated ready to use pie crust. Since I was just cooking for me I did a lot of short cuts and did most of my cooking on Wednesday. The only thing I did on Thanksgiving was put the a Turkey in the oven and make rage mashed potatoes in the instant pot, it came out great!
I’ve have always used my grandmother’s recipe....Libby’s can recipe with one modification, instead of the condensed milk, we use 1 1/2 cups of half & half. Turns out PERFECT and delicious. Everyone always wants the recipe.
Haha YAS! It’s been this way. I have a physical and a a kindle sitting here. I pop into RUclips and then follow the rabbit trail. Lol food/homemaking and book tubes are my favorite. I’ll read later...maybe lol
brining is very good. I love it. I've never brined a bird but my Dad did and other family members do it. I love cool whip on pumpkin pie. lots of cool whip. O.M.G! The stuffed mushrooms look fantastic!
If you like crunch - water chestnuts in green bean casserole and some Parmesan cheese are really good additions! I also dress up Stove Top w apples and celery. I’m no Jen - not home making it over here!!! So excited for Vlogmas this year!!
Thank you for sharing your amazing recipes and tips/tricks. I think the greatest blessing you can pass to your daughter is to teach her how to cook. Happy Thanksgiving
Another great video with great kitchen tips! I never knew you stuff the turkey with various veggies to help maintain the shape and never thought to spray the top piece of plastic wrap with spray oil then flip it over. I always have done that the hard way and struggled to keep it from sticking to itself! Hope you have a great week. Looking forward to your cook book.
if your stuffing is not inside the bird that is why you need more liquid. The stuffing gets some of the juices from the meat if it is used in the traditional way. looks like a lovely meal. As an Australian I am always surprised that you dont have traditional roast potatoes. I guess roast potatoes are English in origin
I swapped to an electric roaster for making my turkey. I appreciate that the bird always turns out moist. The drawback is that while you have pan drippings, you don't get the brown bits on the bottom of the pan that you can get using the oven method. Which makes for excellent gravy.
and yes, creamy mushroom, creamy chicken and creamy celery are all perfectly interchangeable. even if you don't think so, creamy mushroom and creamy celery certainly are!
Jenn: thank you for opening your home to us and sharing with us these genuine, cozy, real life moments ! Extremely nice to watch you and comforting. Everything looks delicious and I am sure it was and the family enjoy it. So cozy and beautiful, thank you for bringing the true cheer to us. I was down with a cold so Hubby and I didn’t celebrate until Monday :) my turkey breast didn’t come out as good as yours, but it was still good to mark and feel the thanksgiving spirit. Merry Christmas and please keep this quality - real life content coming ! God bless and Merry Christmas !
Although I’m a pie crust fan on fruit pies, for pumpkin pie I love the easy peasy “miracle” no crust pie that was on Bisquick boxes back in the 1990’s. I think pumpkin pie is notorious for giving the problems that you’ve encountered: overcooked crust OR undercooked filling when the crust is right. For my family the solution was easy! No crust - saves room for more Cool Whip 😊
Hi, Jen. Whenever I'm making anything that calls for cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger (especially when I make pumpkin pies), I use Pumpkin pie spice. So if the recipe calls for half a teaspoon of each, I will use 1 1/2 teaspoons. I've never used sweetened condensed milk in my pumpkin pies; always evaporated milk. Your gravy was gorgeous. I have a great tip. That potato ricer you used is wonderful for draining spinach and getting all the water out and also for doing the same with tuna fish (I hate wet/juicy tuna fish). I just loved watching this video. It relaxes and calms me to watch you in your kitchen.
I was looking forward to this video. I watched last night before going to bed. Watching again as I’m starting my day. The pumpkin pie recipe I’ve been doing for over 15 years is a Double Layer Pumpkin Pie by Kraft. It is no bake recipe and so good. The only thing I do different is depending who I make it for I may only put 1/8 t. of cloves instead of 1/4 t. This year I made six of these for my family. Always a hit.
Checked about 30x today since I'm horribly sick and knew you were doing vlogmas. So glad it's a super long video! I've tried to go to sleep but I can't.
I used to get a salad at grand lux (related to Cheesecake Factory) and it was lettuce, red pepper, apple, and fried goat cheese balls. The dressing was just a little honey, lemon, and olive oil.
So happy to see that you are participating in vlogmas! I have been rewatching old videos to find some of the recipes that I know that I have seen but cannot remember exactly what video that they are in.
What a beautiful Thanksgiving meal!! Everything looked so good! I actually use the same recipe for pumpkin pie and I think if I used anything else my family would not be happy with me at all.😂. So maybe because it was on the bottom of the oven? So excited to see your vlogs all month! God bless and keep you all safe and sound. Brenda~
Happy vlogmas!! My family recipe for stuffed mushrooms andcstuffed prawns might be worth a shot for adam. 1 punett mushrooms stems off. Place mush caps in baking pan, 1 can lump crab meat, 1 skeeve ritz crackers(crumbled), s&p, garlic &onion powder mixed in a bowl the moistened with 1/2 -1 stick of melted butter till a ball can be formed. Place a ball of mix into mush room cap. Top all with with shredded mozz cheese and drizzle pan 1/2 sticknof more butter. Bake 350 for 20 minutes or until mushrooms are tender. You can swap the mushrooms for butterflied shrimp. Place crab mixture on top of shimp with tails on sticking up.
Hey Jen! I put molasses in my brine and poultry bouquet. It is soooo delicious! Makes me wish I'd made a turkey this year along with my beef short ribs!
On the soup....I always boil my noodles or rice by itself and once done then I add to the stock and let simmer .That way it don't suck up all that great tasting broth which to me is what makes soup..
I brush my jalapeño poppers with a little bit of bbq sauce. It’s a game changer and you could totally do a low carb one. Your sister has such a great name😜. Merry Christmas!🎄
Jen, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to use evaporated milk not sweet condensed milk, lol. At least thats what my granny used. I did that once too and my granny laughed so hard at me, lol
Hurrah Vlogmas! Enjoyed your Thanksgiving celebration. I cooked for the 3 of us but took left overs to my mother. The other kids were out of town. We missed everyone but we had a good time.
My hubby an I have started coffee with Jen time... thank you so much for all you do. Especially the mental health since the passing of our son. I hope your Thankgiving was blessed.
You are such a great woman!! Loved your vlog! For cooking a stock you don't have to peel and cut the onions, they have much more flavour and give the stock a beautiful color.. this is a trick i learned from my grandmother. Sending lots of love from Hamburg/ Germany
It’s stuffing no matter what! 😉 my grandma called it dressing, it was her favorite and still my favorite turkey dinner side but I call it stuffing too 🙃 loved this long first video of vlogmas! My favorite ever!!
My day has been horrible, woke up feeling like I have the flu, had to do distance learning with my daughter, her Zoom teacher is awesome so I'm so grateful for that, burnt pizza rolls, have a ton of dishes to do, dropped my hair straightener in the toliet because it was on a shelf above toliet. Hope your day got a little better! Mine has been a nightmare.
Try the cherry lime seltzerade and the raspberry one. Those were my favorite. They’re kinda expensive but Publix had them on bogo like every other week.
Love your videos! You are a fast talker. Which makes it difficult to understand brand names at times. What brand is the dress you are wearing? While it may be old, it still looks great on you! And I am going to check out the sites you mentioned for glasses. Very flattering to your face and coloring!
Pumpkin pie typically calls for evaporated milk not sweetened condensed...maybe that’s why you didn’t love it?! I make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving every year and it’s always a big hit!
Last Christmas my family served dinner on Dec 29 for our homeless guests at church. Due to timing we decided to roast the turkey the day before. I always roast my turkey, breast down and it’s always super moist. (The first time I flipped it over to brown and decided that was too much work.) So I roasted it the day before, carved it and put in aluminum steamer pans. Made the gravy too. The next day we reheated the turkey and added some turkey broth. We served dinner and it was delicious. Our guests were so happy. I think I may start doing the turkey the day before. It really frees up the oven.
Not a fan of pumpkin pie but on every blog I’ve seen many people have said they use the recipe on the side of a can of Libby’s pumpkin. Everything looks great!
I use the Cooks Illustrated pumpkin pie recipe. It's pretty quick and easy and the filling is almost more of a custard. I don't like pumpkin pie but my husband and everyone else says it's the best they ever had!
Your deviled egg method is exactly the same as mine. I use the same thing to make potato/macaroni salad. Just more mayo and stuff. Eggs, salt and a splash of lemon juice for those. Macaroni salad I put Old Bay seasoning (don't salt) and canned shrimp in.
Highly recommend blending your pumpkin pie filling if you want it smooth! You could use an immersion blender if you don’t wanna transfer it in/out of the bowl.
I had a happy accident with our turkey this year. Even though it was in the fridge for 4 days it was still frozen solid. So I had to water bath it all day Wednesday, which is the day I normally brine it like you showed. So Wednesday night I coated it with salt, putting salt directly on the meat, a method I got from Babish. Then when I put the turkey in the oven I put it breast side down for the first 30 minutes then flipped it. It turned out to be my best turkey ever. My daughter, who is not a huge fan of meat, really like it.
Jen your cooking vids are my fave! Whenever i'm having a bad day or going through a bad anxiety phase your videos always have this crazy calming effect on me! It's like this wonderful escape for a few minutes! When they are an hour it's like a Christmas gift!! So excited for Vlogmas! Please never stop doing what you do!
I got 2 kinds of Bantam Bagels on sale last week- cinnamon and their egg stuffed bagels at 3.99/box. My son and I enjoyed them. I agree about Limoncello LaCroix. Amazing. My other favorite is key lime, which I can only find at Target. I did a 7 lb turkey breast in my slow cooker this year 6 hours on low. Came out so moist. I always salt brine my turkey. I rubbed it with softened butter and sprinkled it with my usual turkey brine. The turkey came out beautiful!! I’ve done the cheesecloth thing before. I saw Michael Symon do that on The Chew years ago.
I watched last year’s Thanksgiving video in preparation for cooking this year for some inspiration. I used the brine recipe for the turkey (which turned out great) and what I’m most proud of.. I followed your instructions and made turkey stock for the FIRST time in my life! It made the gravy SOOO flavorful. Thank you for motivating me to try it!!
Lol you peeling potatoes made me remember something. My son stood close to me, like yours did when you were peeling. Mine asked me what I was doing. Said um what does it look like I’m doing? Not mean just asking. He said, “peeling, but why are you taking so long?” I said, “ because you aren’t helping me. “ 🤣 then he shocked me and said can I have a peeler then? If I help, then I can have mashed potatoes faster. Lol good reasoning child lol
I am still amazed how you are able to get a video for vlogmas while working full time and everything. you are such an inspiration. I always look forward watching your videos!
Jen I am just watching this, I had to catch up with the first 5 episodes, don’t know how I missed them? Your Thanksgiving looked so good! It makes me want to cook another Thanksgiving dinner, probably in February. Love you guys. What are you having for Christmas Dinner? I am making Crock Pot Pot Roast with Mushroom Gravy and either Green Beans or Steamed Broccoli. I started my own tradition of making homemade Lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner. It will be a very quiet and lowed keyed holiday as it will be for everyone.
Hey, Jen! I make Ina's dressing, too. SOOOOO good. The egg bake recipe I have calls for 10 eggs, whipped up with half and half, onion powder, garlic powder, cheese and ham. It's delish. When I make it for breakfast, my older son trolls us to make sure we don't eat too much because he gets the leftovers. Tee hee. We can't have nice things indeed!!! I use a ricer for mashed taters as well. No lumps! and it's so much easier to mix in whatever you're adding. Your turkey looks AMAZEBALLS. I've only brined a turkey once but have never used the cheesecloth method. Think I'll have to try that. I always have trouble with my dressing staying together. Any tips?
Are the brown and clear glasses warby Parker? I just got my new rx, on the hunt for some glasses. I just ordered some from Zenni but I like to have a bunch of pairs.
Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone...i ALWAYS make homemade cranberry sauce... ( cranberries, sugar, vanilla, apple and pomegranite juice and a couple of cloves... 😋 delicious...enjoy...🙏🦃
Hi Jen! New subscriber here and finally sitting down to watch your vlogmas- I love a good binge :) I saw you mention better cheddars in this vlog and I was so excited because no one else shares my love for them!!!! Thank you for being so relatable! I truly love your content!! ❤️❤️
Happy late Thanksgiving! All the food looks so good! So happy to watch your vlogmas videos! I look forward to it every year! Jw, do you have a printable recipe for the chicken and noodles?
OMG. You posted!!! So excited I ended up grabbing and taking my AM meds vs PM ones! Oh twell, I guess. But I am going to forget it all and lose my self here for the next hour. Wow! Thanks, Jen!
Just found your channel today. Look forward to watching some of your past vlogs. Not sure where you are from but by going to HyVee made me think in the Midwest. I made my last run to our local HyVee here in Missouri last night.
Hi Jen…Wow! This was a great long video. Loved it! I just wanted to suggest something I noticed on your pie recipe. I’ve always used evaporated milk in a pumpkin pie. I’ve never heard of a recipe calling for sweetened condensed milk. That is most likely the problem you had with the filling. I read in the comments people suggested the Libbys recipe and that is the standard for pumpkin pie. But you are a kitchen boss! Thanks so much for everything you do. I’ll be watching this month to see what other things you get done!
The pie recipe on the Libby pumpkin can made just as written, is my families favorite. The spices are just right. I laughed at this too! 🤣

Same! Spit coffee all over the place!
I laughed at that too lol
I always just use the pumpkin pie recipe on the back of the Libby's pumpkin can,i find it comes out good every time
Thank you!
@@Jen-Chapin no thank YOU for always giving us these great detailed videos! Feels like were part of the fam😊😊❤️

Just finished your last year vlogmas playlist. Right in time!
I just re-watched all the thanksgiving videos and just LOVE them. I can’t wait for this years!
Happy thanksgiving 🦃 The best pumpkin recipe is on the Libby’s pumpkin can. I make 6-8 pies for the family every year and it’s the best
On the soup....I always boil my noodles or rice by itself and once done then I add to the stock and let simmer .That way it don't suck up all that great tasting broth which to me is what makes soup..

Jen, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to use evaporated milk not sweet condensed milk, lol. At least thats what my granny used. I did that once too and my granny laughed so hard at me, lol
I saw recipes both ways. The one with sweetened condensed milk had no added sugar, the ones with evaporated milk had about a cup of sugar.
Yeah this one did not have sugar so I used sweetened condensed.
@@Jen-Chapin well thats odd, it makes sense then. I actually used sweet condensed milk on accident one year even with the sugar, it was horrible. Lol
I only use Libbey's pumpkin & use the original recipe on the back of can. Always use evaporated milk.
Those polar seltzer ades are my favorite. The mango and cherry flavors are amazing!
Hurrah Vlogmas! Enjoyed your Thanksgiving celebration. I cooked for the 3 of us but took left overs to my mother. The other kids were out of town. We missed everyone but we had a good time.

I feel ya on the ginger. I usually have fresh ginger though so I just use that, but you reminded me to put ground ginger on my list. Thanks
Loved seeing all of your prep and cooking. Thanks loved it
Martha Stewart recipes for pies are always good. My Dad always used her recipe for pie crust.
You are such a great woman!! Loved your vlog!
For cooking a stock you don't have to peel and cut the onions, they have much more flavour and give the stock a beautiful color.. this is a trick i learned from my grandmother.

The Pilsbury pumpkin pie recipe is the best! Perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. Perfectly pumpkiny but not too much. And super easy.
Beautiful Thanksgiving dinner! Adam did a great job carving the turkey. It all looked very tasty. Thanks for sharing.
First one here for vlogmas!! Just. What I need after a terrible day at work, Jens video.

I am still amazed how you are able to get a video for vlogmas while working full time and everything. you are such an inspiration. I always look forward watching your videos!
I've never heard of making pumpkin pie with sweetened condensed milk. It's always been with evaporated milk.
I’ve been waiting all day. You are by far the greatest RUclipsr EVER!!!
You are so kind, thank you!
At Alds these butter was $1.69and that was a limit of six
I've been waiting like crazy for the Vlogmas.. 😀👍
The limoncello La Croix is also my fav! It's so good for no frickin reason
We started smoking our turkey 4 years ago and I'm never going back!
Any tips?
You did the cheesecloth method! So excited to see how it turns out!!!
Are the brown and clear glasses warby Parker? I just got my new rx, on the hunt for some glasses. I just ordered some from Zenni but I like to have a bunch of pairs.
Yes :)
We always used the pumpkin pie recipe from the label on the Libby’s pumpkin purée. It’s so good!!!
Waiting for your vlogmas this year!! I watched all of them last year!! Thank you for doing it Jen.
