Jen...My husband and I own a meat market, and he studied meat science for years. You are never supposed to wash poultry. It spreads bacteria and it is not necessary anyway. With that being said, I love your videos!!!! We grew up in the Quad Cities area and love when you fly out of Moline!😊

You know I always love watching these and it really hit home when you talked about wanting a house and wanting to host Thanksgiving in it because that’s what prayers were answered for me this year. We closed in our home in August (and I subsequently lost a brother) and throughout it all, having to process so many different emotions, all the family kept saying is how they couldn’t wait to have Thanksgiving in our new home. It was overwhelming but I am so appreciative of being able to host and provide this meal for our family. I tried the Martha Stewart turkey recipe for the first time this year , and let me tell you, there was hardly any turkey left. Lol. I haven’t cooked the turkey often for Thanksgiving, it’s usually the thing my mom wants to make but I wanted to do it and it was so dang good. I did encounter a smoking oven situation and had to stop cooking it and switch it to my top oven (thank you God for double ovens, lol) but I didn’t panic, I just pivoted and all was well. I do think I was a bit ambitious cooking the spread I did this year(I had 10 meat entrees, and all the sides and such) but I would do it all over again. I truly have so much to be thankful for. Thanks for sharing Turkey Day with us as always. I look forward to it each year 🤗.

Great video! This would have been a prime opportunity for Mom/Daughter time. Teaching her the classics and spending time together. My fondest memories is prepping thanksgiving with my mom (even though I didn’t want to at the time because I was a pre-teen/teen brat)

My favourite rolls, the only ones I've ever found that are truly better than store bought, are the America's Test Kitchen Make-Way-Ahead Rolls, they're a Japanese Milk Bread roll (the best homemade bread method EVER), and the method they suggest allows you to parbake up to weeks ahead, freeze them, and then bake for 15 minutes day of, brown and serve style.

Your Thanksgiving and Christmas cooking/baking videos are my favorites! I'll often go back and rewatch them over the weeks leading up to the holiday. My fail this year was the turkey. 😢 Supremely dry and overcooked. I usually cook in an oven bag but wanted to try the upside down method. Well, I talked myself out of it and used the bag. My MIL talked me into keeping it in the oven even though it was to temperature, just looked a little pale. Uggh. Luckily a significant other brought spiced fried pork bites and saved the day! Plus there were so many great sides!

Hi Jen, in recent years experts are saying not to wash the chicken as it will spread the bacteria around the Kitchen. Also the cooking temperature and time cooked will kill any bacteria in the meat. I love Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving to you all.❤️

Everything looked delicious. I made dough in my bread maker for rolls using the recipe that came with the machine. So easy-the mix and rise time is only an hour and a half; form the rolls; a 15-20 minute rise and bake. They were so good. My husband said the rolls were delicious and he is picky about them (he currently worked for a caterer). I don’t know how big of a recipe for rolls can be made in a bread machine to accommodate the number of guests you had. The rise on your dough was awesome!

When you make your bed, put the top sheet face down with the back of the fabric next to the blankets or comforter. That way the turn back has the print side up and what you see when you get into bed is all print.

I agree about the rolls being labor intensive Thanksgiving day. My family loves them and I feel like I need to bake some, but I found a recipe several years ago you make the night before and the dough sits out on the counter all night. Just roll, cut and let rise the next day and bake. I also wonder if you use your favorite roll recipe and make the rolls then flash freeze them if they couldn’t be pulled out when you want to bake them like the frozen rolls we buy.

Word of advice - please let the turkey rest for as long as you cook the turkey. It makes them incredibly decadent and moist!

That turkey looked absolutely picture perfect, straight out of a magazine! I'm always too scared to push my turkey for that beautiful dark skin bc I want it moist and tender, but you totally got the best of both worlds! 👑👑

This was sooo fun to watch!!! I cooked for only 4 of us so I did a 7lb breast and cooked it in the instant pot! None of us eat the skin so that wasn’t important to us. It was so flavorful and moist, my Mother in Law said it was best turkey she ever had. My fail would be the rolls. I bought the Sister Shubert pull apart rolls but for got to put them in the oven By he tune I realized, everything else was almost ready. At one point I was “holding” everything while waiting for the rolls. I finally said this is dumb, we’ll just eat the rolls when they’re ready😂

I had a fail. I made Mac n cheese with whole wheat noodles. Just isn't the same. It got mushy because I kept it in the crockpot for a couple hours before dinner.

Can you please share your instant pot Mac n cheese recipe? I absolutely botched the Mac n cheese this year, my kids were troopers and ate a serving each. 😂😂

I cook my turkey breast down so all the juices flow down to keep the turkey moist. A butter injectable also works well too
