They were all 16 years old here ✌️🧡
The lead singer is 'Daniel Johns' you reacted to him singing 'After all of these years' a while back. As others have said they were 16 at the time.
@@squiggles1239i was just gonna say that. I didn't know if he put it together
To a packed to the rafters crowd crammed into the side stage bull pit at the Melbourne leg of the Big Day Out, a slightly bemused and humble Daniel Johns asked why everyone was here watching them when there's a really awesome band called The Screaming Trees playing on the main stages. The crowd erupted, showing their overwhelming support for these three homegrown teenagers aka Silverchair. Needless to say they totally rocked their set blowing us all away. I'll never forget it.
Nah
You've reacted to both Silverchair and the lead singer, Daniel Johns before. They were 15 when they released their first album Frogstomp
They won a competition run by an SBS tv show, the ABC and Triple J radio when they were 14. As part of their prize, Triple J recorded and gave airplay to a single for "Tomorrow" and ABC recorded a video. Their debut album, Frogstomp was recorded when they were 15 and it was huge!
Silverchair are from my home town, Newcastle NSW Australia. They were initially named Innocent Criminals. They were all around 15 years old when they won a music competition and they were too young to go inside the venue to accept the award. They were signed by a record label and became Australia’s answer to Nirvana. Sometimes affectionately called Nirvana in Pyjamas due to their young age. Super talented from the very start.
Dude they were in year 10 at High School here. 15. Just after they won the competition. Sony took them straight over to USA for a mini tour and they toured with RHCPs aswell. Then went home and recorded the album in 4days.
My favourite Silverchair song
Love your channel & love Silverchair. They’re a teenage bend from Australia. One of our greats.
Seen them in the late 90s playing in a small club, they were awesome it felt like a private party. Same time they were selling out stadiums in the US in minute's. 🇦🇺🤘
They were 15 when this album released. Amazing talents!
Silverchair wrote there first song before they were weaned. Danial John’s is an Aussie legend who started singing in his mother’s womb.
Someone give this bloke a permanent residency visa here. Legend.
This child is really good to be this young.
Dig into the Silverchair rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed. As he grew up, he really did create some next level stuff. Diorama album is insanely cool.
Silverchairs Frogstomp was the first album I owned.
I still play Frogstomp monthly. Israel's Son and Pure Massacre are my favs
Findaway here.
This was my prime teenage years! I was volunteering at a radio station so got to watch from backstage in Townsville Australia! Love love loves Silverchair!
Back in the day we used to call them Nirvana in Pajamas as a play on words from the Kids show 'Bananas in Pajamas'. Awesome band.
Silverchair - straight lines
Got to see these young dudes in 2001 at Edgefest in Tulsa Oklahoma. Great song!
This is a great song and a great performance! Very proud of these boys from Newy (Newcastle NSW)
Thank you for another awesome reaction.
One of the best bands I've seen live!
Theses little boys can rock out
VMA was at radio city music hall in new york. The temp stage is actually a roof looking down at the red carpet watching celebrities enter
Yeah mate 👌 Silverchair were like Australia's Version of Nirvana the Grunge era !
You Reacted Daniel Johns ( lead Singer on The Panel Tv Show 2003 )
He was playing the piano and singing Solo !!
Wooow this brings back so many memories ….crazy
The previous concert you reacted to is a great concert. All off the first 2 albums. Imo the best 2 albums
Aussie rock is full of these hard grungy sounds, Black Friday by Grinspoon is a favourite
Silverchair were an iconic Aussie grunge band, they were just "babies" when they first formed around 13 and 14 years old, think they are around 16-17 year old here, we love them down under👍
My partner of 28 years did a sound engineering course where Silverchair recorded "frogstomp", this was back in 96 or 97, I spent hours in those studios....sleeping mostly lol
Thank you for sharing I love this story 💜
They are 16 here and this is NYC.
New York, Radio City Music Hall rooftop at the MTV music awards 95 or 96 when they were only 15-16 years old and huge in America and Australia.
You would absolutely love tuna in the brine by Silverchair
One of my faves too. Such an underrated song. In fact, Neon Ballroom is an underrated album too!
Silverchair did things different !
One of their first live gigs in Newcastle...they weren't old enough to be in the bar!
Neither was I or half the people there😁
thanks for the react - the lead singer was 16 here and the other two were 15 - think about the fact that this was before they'd had the time to develop as musicians! And they'd written the song a few years before this...
I remember watching this live
This was their first single they were 13&14 when they released it and 14&15 when they released their first album Frogstomp
Thank you for reacting to silverchair.
They rocked to stardom at 15yr old with their album Frogstomp. They won JJJ battle of the bands I think. They then conquered America.
If I remember correctly, they were super young, like in their teens. I believe they're outside Radio City Music Hall in NYC
You’re the first American reaction that I’ve seen that likes them 😄 you’re alright with me 👍
The boys, because that is what they were here just boys, 16 years old. This performance took place in NYC.
This is Daniel Johns btw you’ve done some of his solo work as an adult.
OG silverchair is the Australian version of Nirvana 👌🤙
They were still in high school here.
Love ur reactions bro
Crazy to think they were all 16 at the time!
Yesss
Yeah I saw them at the big day out the year before awesome
So did in Melbourne. They were incredible.
Oooo love this band too
Affectionately known as "Nirvana in Pajamas" here in Oz
My very first concert ever was Silverchair
Love silverchair
In 1995 they were only 16!!! Incredible! Silverchair come from Newcastle NSW Australia, near me. You need to react to Straight Lines by Silverchair. I saw yellow cabs so I'm guessing NY?
They used 2 play a fair bit @ the uni there & their mums were screaming louder than e'one. Too good, too young perhaps? How do u go from playing small clubs in Newie 2 Hollywood fame without being affected? I'm glad they took a break 2 do their own stuff cos they just came back better. I think working with Paul Mac helped too
@@jadecawdellsmith4009 yes exactly, very young and they didn't like all that came with it, just like Kurt Cobain. I know that Daniel John's had had his own mental health issues, including suffering from anorexia nervosa
@@eviekelpie1 yep he sang about his eating disorder in Anna's Song but there was more to it than just that. The crippling anxiety & aggrophobia etc. People s'times forget they were just kids & not all of their peers were happy 4 their success, lots of bullying goin on which is a shame but he got thru it & is still making great music
@@jadecawdellsmith4009 exactly. My hubby and I watched a very in depth documentary on Daniel Johns and it was quite an eye opener
They were 14 and 15 when they wrote this 😃
Hey man if you haven’t heard - Cold Chisel Bow River (live) you should, it’s with Ian Moss and Jimmy doing some backup. Classic song
my man, these boys were 14 when this come out, just for perspectives. love ur channel, let me know if you'd like me to turn you on to some more silverchair!
Actually 16👍they have some really great song
Daniel was 16 & the other 2 were 15 in this video 😁😁😁
Bro can you post the react for johnny diesel cry in shame live. It was a superchat from one of your streams
Poor Danny in a bit of trouble at the moment. I think he was DUI and went to rehab again. Cheers from Oz.
They’re younger than me! 🫣
Daniel Johns lead singer is 16 here as is the rest of the band I think. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Several things you should check out. 1995 The Arias- New race. Listen to Spawn Again. This will totally suprise you, as his vocals are totally not like the usual for him and the music is really heavy. Maybe check out full concert Live at The Newcastle Hotel 1995. First ever televised recorded concert by them, and by far the best ever. Maybe check out Rock in Rio concert 2002. One way mule or Hollywood.
they were about about 16-17 here
also referred to as "Nirvana in Pyjamas"
They recorded it at 14yrs old
They really were teenagers lol
All 3 r great @ what they do but I think fame came too early, at least 4 Daniel Johns (who FYI was married 2 Natalie imbruglia) Apart from anxiety he developed some other mental health issues including anorexia which he wrote/sung about in ANNA'S SONG.
Singer was 16 other two were still 15 here.
I like them more than Nirvana 😊
Plizzz react to Jaden b gray u won’t be disappointed trust me on this
Nope u called it, they were like 17/18 years old when they were performing this and they performed live better than bands twice their age that have played their songs thousands of times infront of crowds.
Silverchair started as a youth band 15or16 year olds seen as a Nirvana ripoff, but they broke that by doing amazing original things.
Totally their own band though, really. You can hear Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam, Metallica, and of course Nirvana in their sound. I was 28, at the time, and not into metal bands, or grunge (apart from some big Nirvana hits), and I went out and bought Frogstomp, because it just grabbed me. They just made their own music, where you could hear musical clues to other bands... But it just stood out by itself really. Most kids that age, just hope for a big fat pimple to squeeze, they don't write epic music like this, or Israel's Son.
Teenagers!😮
