That was my request, glad you enjoyed it. They have heaps more and have been going for about 20 years. Check out I love it or nosebleed section. We have some incredible hip hop artist's here. That was a great reaction, Thanks 😊
I've been hoping literally anyone would react to this. Thanks for making the request!
Nice one Sam. 👍
I suggested The Calling, great request! Samantha.
The Hoodies just don't get the recognition they deserve. They actually started in 1991
Nosebleed Section is a great example to explain the main difference with Aussie Hip Hop, it's about relatability. We can't afford a Lambo so don't relate when you rap about yours but we do relate to "lads if you're heading to the bar grab your mates one"
Hilltop hoods are in their mid 40s now and have been active since the 90s. I hope you go deep down this rabbit hole ✌️
Of all their music he listens to this?
They’re bums. Make some
Trash music.
@@tedjames2534 just like your comment
Hilla hilla
Dive down that rabbit hole and discover Bliss N Eso, Scribe & 360
Definitely do "nosebleed section" it has a very funky track.
Yesss!!
The classic
@@kristidewar6296 what made them :)
Yassssss!
Yep yep yep
Nosebleed Section, Chase That Feeling, Clown Prince, 50 in Five, Through the Dark, Cosby Sweater, The Sentinel... these guys have so many amazing tracks.
Yes The Sentinel is a tune. Also The Anthem but that’s pre The Calling.
The Sentinel is a song, off of the Calling.
The sentinel is easily their best song to me
Through the dark is sooooooo good
The Sentinel!! Love their old story telling songs. Stopping All Stations is another I love
Hilltop hoods are so popular in Australia they even get played on radio stations that only do classic rock lol
I’m a metal head through and through but always give hilltop a listen good music is just good music no matter genre
Mate, I'm the same. I think there's 2 non metal bands you can pretty much guarantee metal heads love. Hilltops and Johnny Cash
SLAYER ⚡🙋🏼♂️
@@Paul.Reid123 and Wagner
Same. I've listened to rave music non stop since High School but love Hilltop Hoods. Got to see them live last night for the first time and blew me away!
Dude, their song “I’m Good?” is sooo f’ing catchy… I still can’t stop playing it since it’s release. Cracks me up.
And their older shit is better. Listen to their album 'The Calling'
Now, my friend, you have ventured into the wider world of Aussie music. Bravo.
And what an entry point.
You will not regret exploring more Hilltops, they are so clever and unique
After listening to these guys for over 20 years, i still love seeing people's first time reaction to them. They're a house hold name in Australia. if you were to ask any hip hop fan in Aus who pioneered Hip Hop to the mainstream here, these guys would be the only name on everyone's list.
if you liked this song as much as you seemed to, you'd probably really dig Drapht.
20 + years nick. They dont study hip hop , they are Aussie hip hop LEGENDS.
It makes me so happy to see our homegrown Hilltop Hoods being appreciated worldwide and even now in 2022!
They got some solid gold bars, again you won't be disappointed deep diving here
Hilltop Hoods, are amazing, especially live. Only seen them live once but was perfection. Such an active show and never slowed down the whole night.
One of the first I know of to rap in an Aussie accent.
One of the best live acts going around!
The only time I saw them live was a Homebake, which is sadly gone now. They were amazing, but I would have loved to catch a full show.
@@Wickedkittin yeah saw them about 6 years ago at Margaret Court arena in Melbourne...FANTASTIC!
I'm in my 50s and love these guys! Lyrics absolutely tell a story in every song and they capture not only their journey but resonate with millions of souls. Agree with other commentators - 'Nose Bleed Section' will blow your mind! Love Aussie Hip Hop - represent!
Only catch is their take on where the “nosebleed section” is compared to what Americans see as the nosebleeds
"Nosebleed Section" by Hilltop Hoods was the one that made them big in Australia in 2003-ish if you wanna check that out
I know I have said John Farnham is from my home town .. and Guy Sebastian .. well beleive it or not so are the Hill Top Hoods from Adelaide my home town .. small world..
I think you meant to say Jimmy Barnes and not John Farnham. John was born in England and grew up in VIC, Jimmy was born in Glasgow Scotland and grew up in Adelaide SA.
@@SM1075 ok there you go another one Jimmy Barnes I forgot only because he was very rural of Adelaide.. but John farnham moved to Adelaide to start his career in gigs and television after school in Vic..
Cosby sweater will always be my favourite of theirs
I used to catch these guys doing open mike at the Lonsdale Hotel in the early nineties when they were in their teens. Just as good back then.
They would have still been doing left foot right foot back then! Your a true og brother, I remember seeing them at the Adelaide uni bar early ‘00’s with like only 30 other people in the side ally, they were there so support the jungle brothers and we were treated to an impromptu scratch off against the last bands dj and randoms break dancing on cardboard where the front row usually is. Was such a chill vibe, fast forward a couple of years and I was getting crushed 10 rows back at their first big day out gig!!
@@justanaveragegamer9744 This was even before 'left foot right foot'. Before going to Obese Records.
@@reddog5378 damn! Your right, left foot right foot was released in 01’!! Even “back once again” was 97’ 😳 where did the time go?
That would of been amazing to see
Hilltop hoods are awesome. They're really clever yet down to earth. Hope you enjoy them.
WOO HOO go the HILL TOP HOODS!!!! they have some really cool tunes.
I got to witness these guys live when they opened for Eminem in Melbourne Australia, a few years back.. I love Eminem but these guys almost showed up Eminem without the hype and the lightshow Em got. They are amazing live.
Gotta check out Seth Sentry, lyrically intricate and comes up with some ripper tunes.
During lockdown fans sent him tunes and he would make a new rap every week.
Seth sentry supercool treehouse
seth is a legend :)
Agreed, loved the tree house during lock down. Don't forget the hoverboard ;-)
Fucking Seth… my partner got me into him. My kids love him!
definitely needs to check out seth sentry and drapht
Seth is a good rapper but he doesn't write his own lyrics so it kinda lets him down
They supported eminem on his last aussie tour. It was a fun night all round.
Dam i wish i was at that 🤘
Was definitely the best concert...definitely be going again if Eminem comes back
I’ve was there the first and second time he came out,Good times for sure
They were better then Eminem I went to that concert
I’m a 60 plus woman and I LOOOOVE the Hilltop Hoods, I even took my then early 20s sons to their concert a few years back. Go listen to some of their early stuff like the classic The Nosebleed Section
Helen I thought at 58 I was the oldest Hilltops fan in Oz but you beat me. I saw them live about 5 years ago and loved them. Just waiting to get a chance to see Bliss and Esso next!
@@glennmennie9055 they are an amazing live act. I’d do see them again in a flash
A mate took me to an Eminem concert & they were the support band & they were amazing!
Hilltop Hoods are Aussie Hiphop royalty. Glad you've now been introduced to them. Nosebleed Section & Hard Road are definitely worth a listen along with a track called "Chris Farley" it's funky as hell. enjoy the ride while your discovering hilltop hoods :D
Cosby sweater, clown prince, I love it, leave me lonely, 1955, exit sign, Clark Griswold, + more.. plus all of Bliss and ESO and all other Aussie hip hop.
I am an old fogy. Do not enjoy RAP.......This is a fantastic musical creation. rhythm, vibe, content, lyrics.....WOW !
Finally Hilltop Hoods, not my first choice of songs, but glad they finally came up.
You should react to another song by this same band, called "Nosebleed section". It's much older, but everyone in Australia knows it, and even people not into hip hop like it.
I must be one Australian that doesn't know it
@@turtleman190 you must be pretty young then.
In the Triple J Hottest 100, 2003 it placed at Number 9, in 2009 it was voted Number 17 in the Hottest 100 of All Time, and in 2013 it was voted Number 4 in the Hottest 100 of the Past 20 Years, making it the highest-placed Australian song and the highest-placed hip-hop song in both countdowns as well as the highest-placed song from the 21st century in the former despite never being released as a physical single. It is one of their best-known songs and was a radio hit in 2004.

The Hard Road & The Calling albums are peak Hilltops!!! The music they've made since then has been hit n miss for me but I'm old school like that.
The hard road 😍
@@dangdang3970the restrung album was dope also. Hilltops were the shit back when they dropped the hard road. Everything from the lyrics to the music was exceptional.... They really were the gods of Aussie Hip Hop🙏
The storytelling and the way they deliver Stopping All Stations in my mind is there best work

Can't argue this is one for the books... Legendary set
The calling is so fucking underrated!
Because they make music for b105 now now. Not triple J.
Hilltop Hoods have gotta be one of the most fun live acts as well. Crowd just happy bouncin. So awesome. Cheers for making this vid.
Hill Top Hoods have been going since the 90s and are in the 40s now. Absolutely fantastic group - i'm not a fan of rap/hip hop but I love their tracks man. Def need to give Nosebleed Section a go.
One of my absolute faves from Hilltop Hoods
Try “shredding the ballon” great popping lines also “nose bleed section” also have a look at ‘bliss an Esso’ my fave of theirs is “my life”
I've heard this song hundreds of time and the way you just broke it down has given me greater appreciation for it. Thanks
Love the Hoods, awesome group. Another great Aussie group is ‘The Herd’ Scallops and Burn down the parliament are the coolest tunes you’ll hear in a long time.

@@Grumpy_CBGwake up…….
they released an absolute bop called "im good?" a year ago and it touches on how life is dealing with the vid of the co kind and lockdown, super highly recommend, other top tier hilltop songs that everyone has mentioned is nosebleed section as its basically an australian anthem, cosby sweater, chase that feeling, i love it, are all also fantastic songs guaranteed to get your head nodding ✌️
Hilltop hoods are one of the best
So glad you did this reaction! I've been waiting to see you do some Hilltop Hoods....like many here I'm not a hip hop fan as such, but I love these guys!
They been in the game forever, Aus hip hop, 2003-2015, prior to the emergence of the British inspired drill trash wave, The Hoods, Bliss N Eso and 360 lead the game and are largely under appreciated and recognised, all 3 artists have 3+ legendary albums that deserve more international attention
Surely Illy gets a mention alongside them too…
@@justinspencer9437 he can get a mention but he’s not quite as elite as those 3. Don’t get me wrong he’s fire but as far as actual rap talent I was just putting them above him. Illy, Pez, Drapht, Thundamentals and Kerser all deserve recognition aswell
Coming from someone who used to love 360 and has re-listened as an adult, he is absolute trash unless you are aged between 9-15
The background track is the song "have love, will travel" , I'm really impressed with these guys.
That was a good starting point for Hilltop to be honest, A good middle ground of their songs, not the most rap heavy, not the most musically excellent, but good at both to give you an idea. And also the best jumpining off point for Aussie hiphop as they've been on top of the game for 20 years here. They also do some amazing colabs so if you're after the pick of Australia's modern female singers, it's a good way to find them, with Montaigne on '1955', Sia on 'I love it', Ecca Vandal on 'Exit sign'.
Dude these guys are amazing. Love you checking us Aussies and our great musicians.
Hilltop!! Where to start. The hard road restrung album, Nose Bleed Section, the track about his son with Leukemia 😭 So much energy live. Always a must on a festival circuit.
Through the dark is the song and it is incredible

@@russelldrysdale2622 ❤❤ i hear ya. I was also wondering if he got some singing lessons, because his voice is spot on and even his rapping improved on this album.
For some reason it's giving me the "opening of Partridge Family vibes" I really liked it.
You should react to Cosby Sweater simply for the greatest line ever in HipHop, "I beat around the bush like a 70's porn"
So happy you found these guys, try " Cosby sweater" lol, I'm not a hip hop fan " so to speak" but love these guys, my kids love these guys, they are also really nice blokes👍👍, well done Nick loving your reactions to pretty much everything you do, especially our Aussie bands/ artists!!! "Dumb enough" by the hilltop hoods is a great classic
It’s a swan!
Aussie hip hop is a lot of fun, humorous and also with a serious side. Also listen to 350, Bliss n Esso, Illy and Pez to name a few.
I'm in my 60s and I love the hoods. Was not a fan of hip hop USA style cos i didn't get the references. Then I heard the hoods. They rapped about travelling on the the train in Collingwood.. a suburb of Melbourne ... so slowly I went down the rabbit hole of Aussie hip hop..am I a fan ..fuck yeah... and I have expanded to other countries including the USA..hiphop/rap is kewl ..I love it. Love your reactions as well. It's nice to see a lot of the music that i grew up with and listened to through new, fresh eyes .. a new perspective .. thankyou heaps.👏💫 try "The art of the handshake" ..was my introduction song to the 'hoods

Just found your channel, love watching your reactions and facial expressions. There are some really good hip hop artists in Australia, much different to the US. It’s also. In our own Australian accent. I really love that.
Not a follower of hip hop but these guys always get my attention with their catchy beats and humor even on serious subjects.
Alway chill and catchty, no "I'm a gangster ego" bs.
Lots of Aussie flavor.
Plus they are Adelaide boys, so what's not to like :)
It's hard to talk gangster when your a middle class white boy from Blackwood! 😄
So many Aussie Hip Hop acts are like this
Very little thuggery and violence,
Just creative bars, and relatable shit.
Bliss n Eso, Illy, Hilltop Hoods, 360, Seth Sentry, Drapht, Pez, Horror Show.
Etc etc.
@@maxnankervis8246 the new crew are pretty violent, Hooligan Hefs, Spanian and One Four (half of who are in jail) all talk about street culture and gang violence. Western Sydney has a good aggressive hip hop scene.
Since you've seen hilltop hoods, another group "bliss n eso" another Aussie icon
Anyone else remember in the late 2000's / early 2010's when Hilltop Hoods seemed like they were at pretty much every music festival in Australia?
I remember when they performed at 'splendour in the grass'. The tent emptied soo badly the crushed alcohol cans on the ground got to see them perform
The guitar sample is from American Godfathers of garage rock, The Sonics "Have Love Will Travel".
Also check out another great Hilltop Hoods song "Cosby Sweater", they use a guitar sample from 'The Wimple Winch', another 60's band, from their song "Save My Soul". "Save My Soul" made famous in Australia by legendary underground Sydney band 'Lime Spiders'.
Hilltop hoods hard road please

Love love love Hilltop Hoods; whenever and wherever they play the audience will go mental dancing up and down as one, singing all the lyrics. They are the best and they always get me in a great positive mood. And you gotta shout out 'It's a Swan!" On cue 😀

Love the Hilltop Hoods.
My parent's business pressed their very first CD for them 30ish years ago. We still have the master in our library
That was a great intro to Australian hip hop, anything that Hilltop Hoods does is amazing but this was an amazing track to check out first.
I'm that old I still think Left Foot, Right Foot and The Calling were their best 2 albums. Hard to believe it was over 20 years since they came out.
Soul of the beat from Left foot, right foot! The line ‘Im the one with rhymes so high tech i write in binary’ still is a classic!
I just learnt recently that Left Foot, Right Foot isn’t available on Apple Music anymore, and it sucks!
Welcome to Aussie Hip Hop, its clean and pure rhymes, like 80's hip hop. Please check out more, have look at a group called Bliss and Eso and illy

Welcome to yet another rabbit hole. My son got me into this group. I drove to work one day with the an ear-worm playing over and over. I came home and hummed it and bam, he played The Nosebleed Section and I was hooked from there. Awesome Aussie band and I thank my son for introducing an oldie like me to great bands like this one along with Bliss n Eso. Music truly spans the generations.
Kuhl is on the money, nosebleed section is one of their super early songs. And still one of the best RAPs I've ever heard. Cosby sweater is another prime RAP.

You need to check out and react to “Fifty in Five” by Hilltop Hoods. Especially if you like bars. There’s no chorus just 5 min of bars discussing events on earth over the last 50 years. It’s epic.

The backing track is “have love will travel” by Richard Berry in 1959 but I think the version used by Hilltop hoods was the Sonics version from 1965.
So glad you enjoyed the hilltop hoods!

One of the most popular Aussie hip hop group..... I like them and some Aussie hip hop but don't really get into hip hop in general
So happy you finally heard them! This band has true word craft. Hoping you discover more of them and our other Aussie hip hop artists 🙏
These guys grew up near me, have been in the game a long time, started out more straight up and have progressed to this sound over time, good guys too.
Blackwood boy?
I bought an old holden wagon off some likely lads with a hilltop hoods CD in the player. That was the best discovery
The song of theirs that seems to get the most swing with US reactors tends to be “Cosby Sweater” so maybe check that one out next, it’s not my favourite of theirs but it’s good, if you’re looking for other Australian hip-hop artists to react to I’d recommend checking out Seth Sentry, one of the best for clever word play and pop culture references and probably my personal favourite
Check out A.B Original especially January 26....deep and powerful bars
My most recent favourite "dumb things" a.b.origional, Briggs and Paul Kelly like a version.
Briggs is terrible.... No not a racist comment! His rap sucka
Dude you are in for a world of wonder! Hilltop Hoods are probably my favourite Aussie artists. Their restrung album & the concept behind the tour was awesome. They would give each city’s orchestra a short time with the music to do as they wished, rehearse with them for a day (someone correct me if I’m wrong) & next day perform. They are true artists.
