*Yes, all three were fifteen yrs when they recorded this album...and they recorded it, I believe, in just nine days during their Christmas break from school.*
14 and 15 when recorded
Nice info dude
Was a radio station contest, IIRC.
ALMOST 64 AND STILL ROCKING SILVERCHAIR!
Silverchair is a damn good band. I saw them a bunch of times in the mid 90's in the Chicago area. They were great every single time. 🤘
Super impressive instrument playing for 15 year olds.🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥
I remember listening to them in the 1990’s on Q101.
Great Aussie band
Dan and Ben (drummer) actually wrote this being 13 and 14 years old, won the triple J contest, some guy from the US was backpacking through Australia, heard the song on triple j, he found a cd , sent it to his brother in law, who just happened to be a Sony bigwig, sony signed the boys under Murmur records, a sony branch....they started touring the world soon after. The boys actually lived a miracle
Great info Mr. Hooligan
Never heard of the band or knew what to expect. Slow but good! 15 years old? Wow!!!! Nick said in the "Roxanne" reaction that when your voice has imperfections it is authentic. I kinda got that from the way this guy sang! Sounded like he meant what he sang. Good meaning behind the song!
I recommend listening to Emotion Sickness, Faultline, Slave, Israel's Song and Black Tangled Heart
Mind blowing that they were all 15 when they recorded this. Sooo much potential
Early Silverchair was some of the best! They had such heavy riffs and punchy beats at the time. Frog Stomp and Freak Show have some bangers
As an Aussie in my mid 30's, this album got thrashed in my youth. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I’m 44 …Canadian…This album was so god damn fire back in the day. Was massive here. Still one of my favourite albums of all time. 🤷♂️. 🤙
I’m 56 & still love this album! Love it just as much as when it came out!
Love silverchair forever!
I love Silverchair. Daniel Johns is one of the most talented and interesting musicians.
Maaaannnn, these guys were the shit back in the day!
This entire album is pure gold, from start to finish.
They were awesome live, as well!
Good times!
Silverchair - One Way Mule
Gosh I loved Silverchair, still do
I lived near this guy
They come from where I grew up, it wasn’t a tv show it was jjj unearthed
Loved this song when I was 14 and I still love it at 42!
You guys are crazy to have never heard Silverchair 😮
It’s 🤌🏼
I got this cd from Columbia House! OG!
My first show in 1997 un Montréal QC 😎😎
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH FINALLLLYYYY SILVERCHAIR LETS GOOOOO PLEASE DO MORE I BEG YOU
Love Silverchair! When I was 15 I was pitching a tent every morning.....😂
Silverchair - Pure Massacre
Love this song!
I love silverchair and daniel is a legend ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spitting facts at 15! Jesus they were rad
Love this song!! You have a new subscriber!
Slip into their future and see how they matured with songs like Straight Line and Miss You Love. You rock!🏆😎
Great song from a very young band finding their feet. Played it in the street above the MTV awards in 95 to open the awards.
Hello from bardstown kentucky! Enjoy the reactions and the channel. When I saw the 502 I was like these guy must from my neck of the woods.
I remember hearing they weren't even old enough to drive to their early gigs and had to get dropped off by their parents :D
im literally one second into the intro and i see you guys loving white pony. this is gonna be a great video
Heard this song on the radio quite a while back and went out and bought their Best of CD. Some decent rock. 🤘
Yeah, I remember them. They were so young when they hit the airwaves. Very talented kids. They were really good live too!
Frogstomp dookie(greenday) Smash(offspring) and Nevermind(Nirvana) was dads ho to albums when listening to music he had others but those were his fav(until U2 18)
We’ve got some great music down here. These guys have so many good songs ‘The Greatest View’ is a favourite
Hun, mate! We have the greatest music on this planet that nobody's ever heard. Apart from ACCA DACCA & INXS the rest are vapour to the world. Our greatest ever band, Chisel nope, never heard of outta Straya & Kiwiland. Our 80's was the greatest ever, Icehouse with the actual formal name of our country Great Southern Land 🇦🇺, never heard of but we were so spoilt & apart from feeling soz for our great bands, i also feel glad that our bands stayed Aussie & didn't sell themselves like ACCA DACCA
BLACK TIDE - SHOCKWAVE or SHOUT ....how can 15 yr old kids sound so seasoned like they've been playing as long as they are old. haha
Steely Dan - Glamour profession, Don’t take me alive, Black friday, green earrings, Peg, Aja, Deacon Blues and so on
Thank you Nick. You always give great insight and recognize most songs. There's a weird sense of stress watching people who don't know or understand a song and you give me solace. Because you "got this"
Give it up for the 3 fifteen year old's!!!! Damn!!! That was great!!!!
So many great songs from these guys, and to watch them develop over the years despite the challenges. From freak, Israel’s son, tomorrow, to anthem for the year 2000 and Ana’s song, to miss you love to emotion sickness. They grew and changed and matured while always remaining consistently great.
I love watching you guys. I’ve been a rock DJ in Dallas for 40 years, now on internet. It is so much fun watching younger people hear everything I’ve loved. I was rocking when I was 6 lol. These kids wrote this LP at 14, recorded at 15. Epic! ☮️❤️
The cool vocals in this song with the curls and stretching of the words you're referring to are why I gave up trying to sing lmao. They're chromatic-vibrato/glissando and it was actually so hard for him to nail that note, he started to get frustrated with the song. Daniel Johns would sometimes not even get close to nailing that live as he got older and his voice started cracking harder. Eventually after a bout of jaw-related issues from his bulimia, he was able to sing it again but by then, he was tired of the song. This is why some of the live versions where he really goes hard are quite special. Especially the outdoor MTV version 1995 and his Cabaret Metro 95.
🤘😎
The progression is sick especially in the verse so much swag
This song is tight.
Spiderbait is another 90's Aussie band, review?🙏💕
Earshot - Get Away
I really liked their song, Straight Lines. But this first album was great too. It's a shame that only 5-7 years after this came out, arthritis just about killed his guitar career.
Just found out about silver hair a few days ago I love them so far the music is so good
♥️✨ Silver Chair. Met Daniel John's at a bar in Sydney and had a drink with him. Super cool guy back then.
You really need to listen to some from Diorama, especially After All These Years!
They sell out concerts all over the world! Daniel’s voice is amazing 👍
Great song!
Banger for sure!
Wow, so nostalgic. Yes Daniel was 15yrs old when he was destroying these vocals. Super talented 🔥🔥🔥
silverchair is australias nirvana enuff said. Saw them in big day out legends forever.
I am from the US and grew up listening to Nirvana because of my brother blasted them (among many other bands) in his room, but when Silverchair came out with this, I automatically loved it 100x more than Nirvana. 😁
Nipsey Hussle mixtapes - Killa, ocean views, 7 days a week, they know, Status symbol 1,2,3 Blue laces 1,2 K2C1,2
Imagine being 15 and successful rich and famous and still in school.
Remember this is after Nirvana and Pearl Jam Grunge Rock, so it blend in with the same another theme.
I wish it was 1996 again...
Aussie here! This is one of my favourite albums. Do yourself a favour and listen to the whole thing 🤘🏼👌🏼
I love watching you guys and always have me laughing. This is just a suggestion... I've had Billy Squier's first album since I was a kid in the early 80s. You should listen to "The Big Beat." I always knew the drum beat was sampled by a lot of rap artists and used more than any other song. To name a few: Run DMC, LL Cool J, Eazy-E and even Jay Z sampled it in 99 Problems which he also "used" the chorus from an old Ice-T song called "99 Problems" from 1993. However, I didn't know until I just looked on Wiki, that it's been sampled in 300 songs. I've seen lots of people react to Billy Squier's popular songs but no one has to this song. I think it's a good one to start with seeing it's the first song on his first album. I think you'll like it.
Gidday guys, I think the term you're looking for is ''raw'' talent. When you hear these artists at their best, before record companies start to interfere with production and commerciality pressures. One of their influences was Radio Birdman. Check them out. Now labelled ''punk'' like their northern luminaries The Saints, these guys played hard and fast rock'n'roll back before punk became a thing in the late 70's. These two bands started the DIY drive as they were so different from the mediocre crap commercial radio was pushing at the time. Check out Radio Birdman's ''Descent Into The Maelstrom'' and The Saints ''(I'm) Stranded'' to here perfect RAW.
Garage vibe
I'd like to see you do some Live and/or The Gracious Few. The Gracious Few is Live but with Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy from candlebox.
Silver chair are iconic! Interesting how you said pearl Jam, true! Back in the day they were compared to Nirvana.
TRACII GUNS...THE SOUND
KINGDOM COME.. TWILIGHT CURISER.(HD).
What's up guys listen to the songs Midas Shadow, One Stage Before, Broadway Hotel by Al Stewart. Also songs Seed Of A Memory and To Be Treated Rite by Terry Reid. Beautiful music! 🎶
Pure Massacre plz plz plz !!!! their best song by far.
You guys should check out more Silverchair and see their musical progression over their 5 albums. I love all their stuff but I think Young Modern (5th album) is almost unrecognisable as the same band that produced Frogstomp (1st album). Best album? IMO Diorama (4th album).
I believe this band was very young like 16 years old
SHARK 🦈 ISLAND 🏝️... POLICY OF TRUTH.[OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
You should check out their live videos of this song along with Pure Massacre & Israel's Son.
Their live videos are so much better. They do their songs at a faster tempo. Faultline is another good one 😁❤
Love your opinions I would add this over any nirvana song just saying lol
They loved that Nirvana/Pearl Jam angst....it showed! Good song though. They're later stuff is really great.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN.. TIRED WINGS.
It definitely isn't their most successful hit, it's their first!
Please do The Saints , I'm Stranded...the original punks! Timeless rock n rolll, and way ahead of their time
I like the opinion of Silverchair being a younger Pearl Jam....or basically influenced by PJ. Eddie Vedder's vocals were copied by a lot of bands in the '90s and early '00s. I remember thinking that and saw a lot of bands during that time....including Pearl Jam back in '95 for the first time. Music was all new and we had a great time during that decade.
When they appeared in North America, they were labeled as grunge. 100% grunge. Not sure why this was requested as your 1st listen. It should have been "Pure Massacre".
The whole Album is good...
Alice In Chains - Would, God Am, Bleed the Freak, Sludge Factory, Rain when I die .. Layne was JCole before JCole more alt/ grunge
"not playlist"?! that's absolutely insane. i played this for my kid nephew who's parents only expose him to rap music, and he was going crazy singing along with the chorus at the first listen. get some taste younglings lol
These guys were pretty big down under at the time. My favourite of theirs is Israel’s Son.
I was 12 years old when I first heard this song. I was blown away by the ages of them. Had a huge crush on the lead singer haha. Great reaction guys ❤️
You should listen to the whole album to get a better perspective. Not bad at all for a 1st album.
Hey, Could you plz react to Mornin’, The Theme from Moonlighting and Just to be Loved by Al Jarreau? This guy is AMAZING
Be sure to keep asking every single video.
Check out pure massacre and Israel son
Hi guys, can you please do The Saints? I'm Stranded and/or Know Your Product
I recommend the album "Freak Show"...
There are actually 2 versions of this song, you just listened to the US version
859 here, you guys should react to mathematics by mos def
The Australian version is 1000 times better than the version we got in the states
Not their Biggest Hit.
Freak.
Anthem for the year 2000.
Annies Sing.
So many hits
It's definitely their biggest, most recognizable song.
@@DustinHawke I think you’ll find it a close 2nd to Ana’s Song
@@DustinHawke only in the US
You must do Violent Soho if u like this
The first 2 albums are dynamite
They were the ultimate one hit wonder but the song still has staying power - still on my playlist rotation. I was about your guy's age when this song came out and had many a drunken tales of late night debauchery to this song.
Maybe in the US because of being screwed by their label - huge over here with all albums going number 1 and a long list of hit singles. Go and listen to their entire catalogue - their growth as musicians was phenomenal. Daniel Johns released a new solo album in April.
Nice one guys! Check out Emotion Sickness
Quem são essas pessoas que nunca ouviram essa música???? Coitadosssss
The guys were from Newcastle, so the odds are against them coming from wealthy backgrounds.
Where's the footage?
This is grunge.
