This Band are so underated there music sounds as good today in fact it sounds even better as we appreciate it more great song writing under appreciated is an understatement.
Alongside Glenlivet and Sean Connery, Del Amitri stands as one of Scotland's greatest exports. Had the chance to see a couple of live shows back in the early 90's and the band smoed. "Waking Hours" should have been a big fat hit here in the US. Loaded with great pop tunes. Gotta scratch your head sometimes and wonder just how that one got by.
I miss the the days of growing up they went by so dam fast life is almost over and it feels like this song came out yesterday, take every day and enjoy it like it was your lady because you never know it may well be your last.I've lost so many friends and miss them dearly life is short enjoy every second and never worry about tomorrow it will always be there even if your not lol peace!
It seems like weeks since you looked at me, baby, without that look of distaste I don't know why your feelings are changing but I've seen it in your face And all those times when our lips were kissing, our tongues were telling lies And all those signs I've been missing right there in your eyes So come on babe, let's kiss this thing goodbye I sometimes feel when we're together baby, everything has turned out wrong And I know you feel exactly the same way but still we carry on I've been waiting up by the window watching these cars go by And I tell myself that I'll go through the motions for the last time tonight So come on babe, let's kiss this thing goodbye Now I'm watching the fumes foul up the sunrise, I'm watching the light fade away And I'm hoping tonight that I'll open the door, and you'll stand here and say Come on babe, let's kiss this thing goodbye Better make it sooner than later Before it all turns sour Don't you know we'd better kiss this thing goodbye
I randomly went to see them in Liverpool late 80s at the Royal Court. A great, loud rock band. A happy accident when they were again playing Liverpool when I was there visiting family and went to see them, louder, bigger more appreciative crowd and another great gig. I planned my next trip northwest when they played the Empire and it sold out. Wow, they were even louder and so much more confident and having fun. Liverpool loved Del Amitri. Slightly disappointed to find there album over-produced, quieter, acoustic/folk/rock? nothing like the band live!
This song was great what memories this brings back! Thought they would be as big as the rolling stones, what happened to them? They had more talent than the stones ever thought of
I love this song, love the band and love Justin. They are touring at the moment and have a new album and Justins voice is just as brilliant as ever. I've never seen them live which is my biggest regret in life.
Oh wow...good stuff...this proves doing TV is great promotion because when I saw this 20 years ago, I ran right out and bought the CD. It would be great if Justin showed up on Letterman to promote the new solo album.
Check out for Justin Currie, their singer. He keeps releasing new music (two solo albums so far) and plays a good deal of Del Amitri songs in his live performances (just finished a two weeks tour in the UK).

Great song. And right about this time, I was kissing high school good-bye. Wow, 22 years have flown by and it feels like only 5. Slow down time, what's your hurry!!
Every time Boris loses something like a by election or there's a new scandal...this song raises its head. Thinking of this track again this morning...great song!.
If you listen to Del Amitri without the annoying intrusion of Letterman's musician's you'll realise that they ruined this song by being involved. Del Amitri don't need assistance from anyone.
mmm. Justin NOT playing the bass here...jeez..looks likea TV decision.. for the USA.. to make Justin some kind of front man...a "girl" magnet... seems like the bloody house band bassist is playing!!
That's the worst performance I've ever heard of this song but it's not Del Amitri's fault. Whose dumb idea was it to have Letterman's band make up half of the band for the performance! It didn't sound right. It sounds as if the prominent instruments were from Letterman's bass player, drummer and that gimp Paul on the keyboards. I couldn't even make out the lead guitar!

And all those signs I've been missing right there in your eyes
So come on babe, let's kiss this thing goodbye
I sometimes feel when we're together baby, everything has turned out wrong
And I know you feel exactly the same way but still we carry on
I've been waiting up by the window watching these cars go by
And I tell myself that I'll go through the motions for the last time tonight
So come on babe, let's kiss this thing goodbye
Now I'm watching the fumes foul up the sunrise, I'm watching the light fade away
And I'm hoping tonight that I'll open the door, and you'll stand here and say

Lead singer Justin Currie's a dead ringer for Richard Gere in "Looking for Mr. Goodbar."

Not the same without the harmonica!
looks in her eyes...Come on babe !.....
Amand´a Thomas pretty so much
Who's on keyboards, only three members are from Del Amitri
Paul Schafer, Letterman's bandleader.
@howedelamitri its on here now
Seems funny to have Will Lee covering Justin Currie's bass part, but they sound great.
If you listen to Del Amitri without the annoying intrusion of Letterman's musician's you'll realise that they ruined this song by being involved. Del Amitri don't need assistance from anyone.
@marisha4sure Sid McGinnis (electric guitar)
those crash cymbals might as well be on the ceiling
Nicely observation. USTV pisses me right off.
Who is that on bass?
marisha4sure Will Lee, hes in Lettermans house band.
Am I crazy or is this a particularly rare lineup of members?
Who's on drums?
marisha4sure Anton Figg, Lettermans house band drummer.
I agree David but they're Scottish brother.
wheres the bloody harmonica!!!
mmm. Justin NOT playing the bass here...jeez..looks likea TV decision.. for the USA.. to make Justin some kind of front man...a "girl" magnet... seems like the bloody house band bassist is playing!!

Dumba...e comments from Lettterman. Great band ., from an Aussie musician. They'd take off with Oz management. Top sound .
A....." SEVEN ".... piece Del Amitri ......WTF is that all about.......
I hear this song every once and a while at work. So cheesy. Like hootie and the blowfish or "Let's give em something to talk about"
