Pure Scottish Gold ❤
Amazing performance of a perfect pop song. It should've been a huge hit. Shoulda...shoulda...shoulda...
Anyone who knows Al Chan knows that's high praise from someone who knows how to write a song...or two. This song is about as good as it gets, melodically. It's the subtext that kept it from airplay IMHO.
It's in a class well-above hit status, especially today's hits. Much too good for the like.
That's the problem. It's a 'This is a chance to break through Stateside' performance, and they put their all into it. Had they been completely nonchalant and not given a shit, it might've been different. However, I'm glad the UK have them. Superb band live, and this sounds stunning on vinyl. IF you can find it; took me twenty years.
Still rockin 25 years later yeah baby!! Del amitri is so much better than a lot of the music today lol! They have class, something sorely lacking today.
Brilliant performance and 100% live. Del Amitri has always been one of the greatest bands out there, combining thoughtful lyrics with extremely melodic music. If you haven't heard much from this band, you're missing out.
Remember when this came out...can't believe it's been 20+ years...damn. Still one of my favorite Del tunes!
Brilliant songwriting and performance. It is so great to hear a 100 percent live band.
Kris Dollimore has stated:
"I can confirm it is 100% LIVE! And, that line up had been together less than a month, hadn’t even done a proper gig!"
That's just pure pop brilliance!
Not playback. My dad was the drummer and during that tour they did a mix of live TV appearances (as above) and also many a mimed early morning 'Breakfast Show' news channel where they were there to simply promo the new single and mime. This version is 100% live. A GREAT live band who could pull it off live night after night. Joe Price
Thx for checking in with the confirm. I was a going a little nuts having to explain to some previous posters what was CLEARLY obvious.
Its obvious though. Just listen to his voice. Confused as to why there would be any confusion.
@@jamescarr4662 Yes bizarre. I'm a touring musician myself and have used playback and no playback live and there is clearly no playback. The drummer would have in-ear monitors for click if that was the case, and Andy the keyboard playing isnt triggering anything. I don't know why i'm re-explaining. They were just a great live unit!
That's awesome. Thanks for the insight. Dude your Dad's great but my dad played cowbell on font fear the reaper. Ok he didn't. But he did play the radio..😜
Cheers. What a great song and band
Del Amitri does Powerpop, and they do it better than anybody else!
My favorite song by the Dels
Great song and live band
What a band! What a song!
One of my favorite songs always turn up the volume when I hear it on the radio.
Great tune, solid band.
Justin Currie - pop genius - none better.
Just love the Dels ! Great music, great band !
Seen these at the Barras a couple of weeks ago
Sounded amazing
Top Band
Few better live
.......SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True story ❤
Great song, great band!
Very catchy.
I love the studio version but I always come back to this. Perfect power pop with a truly great mix.
Playing Berkeley CA in three weeks! First time in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1997!
Love del amitri but this is where they lost me... Loved waking hours and change everything
Brilliant :D !!
Fuckin brilliant.
24 years ago...where did that go?
Damn, this is in Raspberries territory
Does anyone else hear Dave Edmunds?
Absitively
just curious guys, who is the drummer
Ash Soan. Quite a CV: ashsoan.com/
His name is Mark Price. Ash had to leave for awhile, and Mark filled in for awhile. Nice guy, good drummer.
is the guitarist on left had too many red bulls? ha ha. jeez.
Problem is, that it's playback. Completely the album version. Nevertheless love 'em....
Performing live is Del Amitri's forte and they have never sounded better. There is no playback or lip-synch EVER on the Late Night/Conan O'Brien Show. Play the album version and this LIVE track and the vocal and guitar differences are obvious.
Stephen Polly Believe me, I've seen them live. And will again last year in Edinburgh. I absolutely love the Dels, but this is beat for beat, syllable for syllable the album version. Listen to both.
Believe what you want, but backing vocals slightly out of tune at (2:52) and guitar flourish at end of the song (3:35) show they are playing live. Also, after the line "geography I lack" (1:21) bass notes are higher and diffferent than recording. Other viewers please chime in!
Stephen Polly If that's true, (and I'm inclined to believe you, as I'm pretty familiar with the tune) then they're fantastic live.
It's all good. We are both listening to a great song multiple times trying to see the differences and as a result we got to hear some great Del Amitri music. Cheers!
