I'm from Dublin and I share your bias. Gotta love that country roots rock sound. The dobro is like sonic sugar. Fantastic band. One of my all time favourite albums.
This band deserves more from the 90s than they gave them,3 great tracks and most people wont know them.(kiss this thing goodbye, nothing ever happens and the last to know).
Ah, remember this from 1990, last year of wantirna high school. Sinehed o'connor, concrete blonde, faith no more, Lenny Kravitz.. too many more to mention. Music did have a more uplifting effect on us all back then!
Best song ever. I've watched different video versions of it. Very hard to choose my favourite between this one and live on the David Letterman show. Only because Justin smiles a lot in both and his smile is as magical as his singing.
Happy 30th anniversary of this being a hit... mid-May 1990, driving home from college on a sunny afternoon northbound on 95, just past Boston, i heard it on, i think it was, River 92.5. Delamitri had several more hits in the 1st half of the 90s but none of them met the standard of this one. Which to be fair, set the bar awfully high. So much cool stuff happens in this song, you'd swear it was 7 or 8 minutes long.
I had graduated from High School by 1989, or done my GCSEs for the British audience, so this resonates with me more than it could have in 1979 when I was five.
Kids aren’t making music anymore like they used to do. When I was kid you dreamt of being a rock singer or in a band now kids dream of being a Fortnite star or similar.
Should have been a huge band in the UK but unfortunately we were listening to Take that and various other manufactured bands that couldnt hold a candle to Del Amiri
***** Late reply: "The US version" probably refers to the video. Keyboard player Andy Alston is in this version, but not in the original UK version. Alston was a session player on the album, "Waking Hours", and became a full-time member after it was recorded. Second guitarist David Cummings and drummer Brian McDermott who both appear here was not playing on the album. They replaced Mick Slaven and Paul Tyagi respectively. The lineup in this video clip however recorded Del Amitri's third album, "Change Everything" which was released in 1992.

Good music is timeless. I just thought to myself "about late 90's ish" .1990, like I say timeless..sold all my vinyl and regretting it.

Kids aren’t making music anymore like they used to do. When I was kid you dreamt of being a rock singer or in a band now kids dream of being a Fortnite star or similar.

There WAS a Y2K bug but it didn't affect society as we expected, but it did kill music from the year 2000 onwards...
Sean French you got that right on son.
Great comment.

I know!!!
I say this all the time too. Absolutely brilliant band....so much better than many overhyped groups. Should have been huge.
probably because they wouldn't sell out
2019?
Why is it the 'US version'? sounds the same as the 'UK version' if there is such a thing.

Thank you very much, that makes sense now, and any future videos marked that way will make sense to me in the future. Thank you for all the info.
Different video, different ending.
That poor piano has seen better days!

its typical schots mand the all makes a the most the spetackula music
(:D
My only criticism is that it's a bit too long. 4 minutes at most, unless it's a real classic.
Good thing it's a real classic :)
I'm playing my harmonica to this. In the wrong key but who cares?
Wth
