Speaking as a fan of well over 30 years, who remembers when this single was released, I have to say it's right up there as one of their best (such stiff competition too!) :D As a 16-year-old I loved JC's voice and his style was a big influence on me. Can't believe I'm now 47 and they've just released a new album which holds up well to their 90s material! Cheers lads! :D
Love this song to death. Always have. Del Amitri songs and Justins solo stuff could keep me going forever. Music and lyrics that are truly nourishing to my soul.
Good luck with your Dels journey. 👍 Don't forget about the self-titled first album from 1985 (Waking Hours is actually the second), it is totally different but beautiful in its own right.
My first ever live show 20 odd years ago. Small venue in Northern Adelaide promoting Waking Hours crowd of about 1500. Amazing show better live than studio.
I remember when they came to our road (CLAREMONT ROAD) to make this video - beginning shots of the geezer singing outside the house. The crew plugged in their catering van in our house ... and they had a rain machine!
I still adore this song god knows how many years on as well as Hole Hearted and Nothing ever happens (Although i'm told he didn't really like that one).
'Spit in the rain' is one of my favourite Del Amitri songs. So hard to choose I love them all. Oldest to the newest all pure genius. Thankyou guys for all being so talented nice down to earth musicians. You all found your true calling in life and made many many happy fans the world over. Love you guys.
Underrated is the most overused ,lazy ,stupid comment to make about a group who were, and still are highly rated by a multitude of fans of great ,well written and perfectly performed songs. If you can't be more constructive ,best to say nothing .
She left me like spit in the rain in 1991. Her memory still isn't washed away.
Classic song from a great band.

Totally agree.. my favourite song of theirs, heart wrenching lyrics, who hasn't been there?
