Just did this repair on my 2014 Tiguan, bought the part from dap on Friday here the next Tuesday, watched the video one more time and done. One thing I suggest is when you have the coils out is to put something in the holes...just peace of mind so nothing falls down, I used a few clean shop rags and then used them to wipe everything down. Great Video hit all the parts of a simple repair saved me about 150 bucks in labor.

Thanks for the tutorial. I ordered a replacement today. Between you and Humble Mechanic, I was able to diagnose the issue (my hunch was right) and limp 200 miles home knowing it was just the PCV shreaking loudly. I pulled the gasket from the oil cap to equalize the crank case pressure enough to make the squealing stop.

  • @FirstImpressionReviews

I would suggest covering the spark plug holes with plastic so oil doesnt leak in there when removing the pcv valve. I would also suggest using an air can to blast any dust laying around the pcv valve before removing it too

2013 Tiguan. I had a P2187 along with a pile of O2 sensor and misfire codes, nine faults in total. I used my finger to plug the vent on the PCV cover bleed/vent hole to diagnose. Stupid diaphragm was torn terribly. The Doorman part is a thicker rubber bit and was super easy to swap. Thanks for the video man. Much appreciated.

Awesome! I just had this go bad on my 09 B8 A4 quattro 2.0T (FSI). Symptoms: High pitch whistle coming from the front of the engine (dipstick plug location) at idle after driving. Strong neg. pressure pull when trying to remove oil cap with engine idling.
(*Edit: I used a different part number for my model - 06H103495AE… I'm still not 100% sure that this is the right part. I may need to replace the crankcase seal. I highly recommend calling the dealer or experts and using your VIN to find the right part.*) Install procedure is the same except there's an additional bolt holding the coil connector line in place. The valve is right on top of the engine (easy access ~ 30 min job.) Great video!
I would caution anyone about buying aftermarket parts for this one. Based on my research it's been linked to the oil consumption issue and if the part has been through multiple revisions it's probably safest to get the latest OEM. Make sure it's the right part though.
Edit: Replacing this part has made a HUGE difference. When idle I can't even tell if the car is on. It was quite rough before. The performance has improved and the whistle is long gone.

Deutsche Auto Parts- Your Source for Everything VW and Audi I did some more research and my original number is 06H-103-495J so does that mean that the latest revision of my part is actually 06H-103-495AE and not the AC?

I just replaced my valve and realised that the previous valve was aftermarket Vaico brand and had been replaced less than 2 years ago, about 25K miles. I was getting different check engine codes from faulty O2 sensors and also faulty catalytic converter. Once I replaced the valve with a VW/ Audi from the stealership the codes went away in less than 5 seconds after the valve was replaced. Paying the extra price at the stealership may give you peace of mind and not having to replace within 25 K miles. Also, the previous valve was leaking quite a lot of oil due to the gasket having gone bonkers! No more Vaico aftermarket for my MV.

Thank you for the video. It saved my wife a ton of money. She got the P2187 code. Lean at idle. I didn't have to change the whole PVC valve thankfully. Dorman had a part to replace the diaphragm which is what was broken. $30 as apposed to $140+ for diagnosing from VW and they would have sold the PVC at a premium which is already $220+ and at least 1 hour labor at what ever else they would have tried to tell her or me needed to be done. I love the cars but my experience with the dealerships has been bad. In my experience they have been crooks.

After having misfires in cylinders 1 & 3, I replaced all spark plugs and ignition coils. The misfire code hasn't cleared itself and seems rough when I start it up. I pulled the spark plugs a day after installing new ones to find the engine is running rich. Is the next step the PCV valve?
***UPDATE*** - Got a diagnosis done and it confirmed my hunch. The VW dealer determined that the PCV valve was leaking and there was significant carbon build up inside the intake manifold. All of this I expected. What I didn't expect was they found oil leaks on the upper and lower timing chain covers...which they suggested should be replaced. As well as a leak at the rear main seal. So this leads me to my new set of questions.
Wouldn't the PCV cause oil leaks in all of these places? Why replace the whole cover instead of just the gasket? I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do the timing chain repairs and would have those done at the dealer, but I'm trying to mitigate cost here and do only what needs to be done. Also, with the engine having 120k miles would it be a good idea to go ahead and replace the timing chain? Or should I just not try and fix what isn't broken?
    Thanks!

I'm currently getting code P2187 with the 2.0T engine in my 2010 VW EOS. Now I'm trying to diagnose the issue.
So far the 2.0T is proving to be another expensive engine to maintain. Not quite as bad as the 2.8L VM-Motori diesel that "was" in my 2005 Jeep KJ (swapped in a 3.7L Gas V6 in its place) but at least all the non engine related parts are cheap on the Jeep when compared to the parts on the EOS. While the VW EOS is a pleasure to drive I don't think it will be a long term keeper.

Save some money and just change the diaphragm. More often than not it is the problem. It’s easy to do and much cheaper.

Hello, question.. I have a nice oil leak coming from somewhere and I've thought about replacing the pcv valve. I haven't done so because every video I see about failures of pcv you're suppose to get codes or some kind of symptoms. I have no symptoms or vacuum from dip stick, car runs smooth. I have thought it's a rear main seal leak but since pcv hasn't failed( to my knowledge) where else can I check for leaks. Side note as well, car leaks just sitting as well which also leads me to believe its main seal. Any ideas on this?

    • @Deutscheautoparts
      @Deutscheautoparts  6 лет назад

The rear main can fail on its own. It's just often caused to fail prematurely after a pcv failure. Sounds like you might have a bad rear main, but a second opinion is in order.

Deutsche Auto Parts - sounds like I be getting a pcv and main seal fixed, I was afraid of that. Thanks for your time, also once this is fixed I'll be ordering your stage 1+ ecu/dsg flash, main seal kinda put that back.

Deutsche Auto Parts I installed a new pcv valve before getting main seal repaired. Installed it and now have check engine light, will be getting the code read but from researching everything suggest pcv valve is stuck open. Idle is normal, when I open oil cap when car is on it doesn't stutter like before. Thoughts?

Don no those are the valves and ring seals that are too small letting oil bypass the cylinders and burning thru te exhaust.

I'm putting my engine back together. I bought the bent valve kit from you guys and I was what the valve cover bolts torque spec is. I'm having trouble finding it. also are they stretch bolts?

  • @jamesjohnson3910

I think I've narrowed things down to the pcv. I was getting a bit of oil on the MAP sensor. The car was running hesitate on acceleration. I removed my oil cap while engine was running, no change at all to idle. That leads me to believe that it's the pcv assembly. Am I right?

2012 audi s line 2.0tfsi. Obvious oil in #1 cylinder. Which is causing a misfire. And throws the misfire code. Buy what I was wondering is. Wouldn't the pcv/oil seperator cause the excess oil buildup in the cylinder ? It's only on #1 cylinder. I already changed out one coil pack to see if it changed or ran better in which it did. But eventually misfires again. When I clean the plug it starts all over. Would the pcv/oil seperator cause the excessive oil buildup ? It's smokes only in that cylinder.

I have seen a variety of different kits and set ups to do this, but I would like to know....what set up/kits (if any) would you guys recommend as the best way to do it? You guys seem to really know your stuff, and so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 👍
