FYI... the solenoid and the arm are parts you can buy individually at places like Rock Auto so the intake manifold can be repaired at a lower cost now.

Failed part. Both my fuel pump 1800.00 and my water pump 3000.00 failed 15,000 miles apart. Intake fail was what I put in shop for. Mechanic said just a vacuum hose was off, but my water pump was leaking, needs r&r. $3000. later I pick up, drive 10 miles and engine light comes on. Return to shop, they are putting on new intake today. Then I looked you up! Thank you, Man! A real answer in about 3 minutes.

Mr Humble: I cannot thank you enough for your video. I have had three manifolds on my Volkswagen CC, and the third has failed. I have to drive for my job-I need my car!!, I have no time due to my two small kids, and I have other car expenses due to being hit by an uninsured driver. I loather the prospect of paying out for a new manifold.
I just snapped back in the little are you described and my car is running great!!! No fast slow idle, but now a smooth idle.
    I cant thank you enough!!!

TY so much for posting this video. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out a misfire on Cyl 4. I replaced the usual suspects, ignition coil and spark plug, with no effect. After watching your video I checked and discovered the arm had popped out. Popping it back in fixed the misfire. I guess I will be replacing the entire manifold with the new version eventually, but for now I'm back on the road.😃

My intake didn't fail but when it came time to do another valve cleaning I decided to change it since the car now has 160K miles. The actuator and flapper were all nice and tight. Boy were those valves and injectors gunked up ugly. I'm not surprised it was running so poorly after seeing that. Thanks for the video..

This one saved me a bunch of time and money as the little flap rotator thingy was popped out on mine making the car nearly undriveable. Brought to a VW mechanic and $400 dollars later nothing changed. I've managed to pop it back in but when I put my thumb over the end it's still pulling a small vacuum on my thumb. I'm guessing this isn't normal and the manifold should be replaced?

Humble Mechanic, thank you for sharing your expertise... I viewed you video on removing the manifold. What experience with my CC one day was I started my car and it stalled which never happened, with a flashing CE light. Then I stayed it again and it had a rough idle, drove successfully with no light. Started in the morning with a CE light... throwing all codes 2015 and misfires, etc. checked out your video on replacing the manifold. CE Light is still one. No rough idle, smooth ride, maybe slight less power but nothing significant... do I need to erase CE? Thank you sir.

This was great. Hooked me up big time (the knowledge I picked up ahead of going to my dealer with a P2015 issue). My GTI '13 was NOT covered by VW America's extended warranty on this part that I read about but a combination of VW losing well deserved momentum due to Dieselgate and my handling of the service department lead to my 71k GTI getting a new Intake Manifold job at $0; I just offered to pay for the media blasting/cleaning of the intake port which I was quite happy to pay for. My GTI is running nicely now and while I'm somewhat frightened at what the next failure will be (having come from a JSW HP Fuel pump problem), I love VWs and am grateful to The Humble Mechanic for all that he puts in here. (do you sell those tee shirts?)

Hi, I found many of your videos very helpful. I had a bad/stretched timing chain in my 2009 tiguan at 118,000 miles. I removed the head had a machine shop replace my valves, replaced cam chain, tensioner, guides, all new gaskets, new injector seals. I had the manifold replace from dealer a few years ago. But the hardest part of this job was trying to put the bracket on for the manifold. I saw an aftermarket high performance manifold that actually does not use the bracket. The car runs better than ever, but I did not install the bracket. With the 9 bolts and in throttle body intake hose holding the manifold in place it does not seem like it is needed. What is your thoughts?

I had a very rare 6 series V-12 BMW, pre OBDII,pre check engine light that failed emissions (high HC),we sold the car, I did the used car check out. Part of the check out did not involve checking if it would pass emissions. By 2002 our Dealership did not posses a 2 or 3 gas analyzer (no analyzer of any type) and no "Sun machine" type device to check primary and secondary ignition performance. The car had heated cats. I worked off two known issues (intake manifold leaks) and secondary ignition wires failing. Just disconnecting a secondary wire at the spark plug will damage the wire, our cost for wires was 300.00 per side,(two sides). Customer pay on intake reseal was 5.0 hrs, with plenty of old fuel line to replace. I did the wires and the intake reseal and it still failed. I said "any further work by me will be paid straight time" I rolled my box out that day and right into a GM Dealer that same day. I made the most money I ever made at that Dealer but all good things must come to an end.

@HumbleMechanic I have had the P2015 Code on for over 6 months now and didn't think much of it as I didn't any drive-ability issues with the car...... until it started getting cold out side (Below 45). For the first few minutes of driving the car will misfire and run rough. Once the engine gets up to optimal running temperature the hesitation goes away. Is that Intake Manifold Sensor Related or could that be the intake runner flaps being stuck by all the carbon deposits (my car has over 93,000 miles and I have yet to do a cleaning). I guess my real question is, could the intake flaps sticking cause a P2015 Code or am I short out of luck and I need to purchase a manifold. I'll be doing the carbon cleaning soon so it would make sense to replace the manifold while its off. Thanks again for the informative video.

I am new to VW and have a CC with this engine that is having an issue with what you mentioned. On the arm that “ pops in and out” on the side goes into the flaps of the manifold, it is pulling a pretty large vacuum that i can feel with my finger. I can not push it in and out, into the manifold but the car stays high RPM at idle until i push the arm into the canister. Does this sound like an issue that i should replace the entire manifold with? I know you mentioned it’s difficult to repair parts on it, just looking for input, thanks!

I just did this manifold on a 2009 Audi A4 due to the arm pooping out . Good idea to sell a valve carbon cleaning while doing the intake manifold . I get 2 more hours to do the valves .

Just installed a new Manifold and I'm getting p2015. The old Manifold was broken so i was sure it would fix the problem but nope. Anything else that goes bad for p2015 or do i have to re learn new adaptions for the flaps?

What are the name or part number for the part that slide into the head into cylinder 1,2,3,4 and it slides into the middle pretty much separating the cylinders in half.

I just went through this on my 2015 A5 last week. However, mine is a flex-fuel car so the intake manifold is aluminum. With that the vacuum valve, lever, etc. bolt onto the manifold separately. I had a shop complete the repair (I was unable to find the right part), only $960 later :/ But it is all good now.

Charles, my carfax shows my intake manifold was replaced by the last owner. Where can I find a part number on the part to know if it's the latest one?

If I have the p2015 pop up with a lean code as well will it hurt the car if I drive it home to fix it? Can I just pop the arm back in if it has popped out to seal the vacuum lean just to make it home? I just don’t want to drive it if it’s really running lean and will hurt the engine. Thanks for the help

If I transfer old intake runner sensor to new updated intake I shouldn't have a problem ? because updated one has different last letter with (B) Do you need to calibrate this intake sensor when you change this intake manifold?

My manifold failed on me 5 days ago, we saw the check engine light and got the P2015 code at 65000+ miles. Took the car to dealer and the manifold was cover by the extended warranty. Thanks for the heads up on that. We had the work done that you suggested and it cost us $525.00. Idk if they pulled a fast one on us, but they said if we did not change the spark plugs the car may start to back fire. so we changed them too.

The sparkplug thing depends on how bad they are. Glad you got the rest fixed up.

hey i have p0171 and p0507 code on tsi, and the intake manifold can be replaced under waranty, but do you think they will replace it if i have these codes.Like im pretty sure it is related to manifold problem, but want to get a second opinion.
they charge a stupid a diagnostic fee if the problem isnt related to the manifold .

hey, I have a 2.0tsi scirocco and the engine light came on. I checked what the problem was and the error code was p2015 intake manifold sensor. I reset it using the obcd but the engine light hasnt come back on, is there anyway that the manifold is fine? I don't notice any difference on how it drives and the light only came on once.

Anyone know what the sensor should read out at idle and at higher revs? I think my sensor is faulty. It's reading between 40-50% regardless of position, and only changing slightly when moved through its full range of motion. The flapper and arm move freely.

Great video! I just got this error code for my 2014 GTI... unfortunately I’m out of PT warranty and of course, no warranty extension for my make/model 😂💀🤣. Good thing it’s not the lever arm so I can take some time to gather the $ to fix it out of pocket. Gg
