Hey Sweetwater, thanks for bringing back Nick Bowcott. He's been outta the spotlight for far too long. A truly great guitar player, and a really cool bloke!!
@@bayouburner281 I have multiple 10’s and they never sound like that with high gain. In the end it is all subjective. I appreciate the response. What’s your favorite 12 inch speaker?
I love that he's playing some Grim Reaper in this demo! I will admit for years I had never heard of that band and I know Nick from all these demos but that's awesome!
He's an even better teacher than he is a player and that is saying something. Serious Mr. Miyagi moments. I wish I hadn't hit hard times and could have kept going.
@@benmurphy7654 Speaking of which, Rocksmith+ does have most of the best Grim Reaper songs on it but of course it would be more fun to learn it from Nick himself since he played it originally.

Wish I could afford this, Eddie is why I play. When I was younger I looked a lot like him everyone called me little Eddie and said I should have been in hot for teacher. Sucks being disabled on a fixed income.
What's amazing is how much of that classic EVH tone he's able to muster just by using one of EVH's guitars and that amp and no effects. It's not as on the money as say a USA EVH signature Wolfgang guitar and a 5150 III EL34, but the entire package here is less than $2k and sounds amazing for the average player just looking to be able to crank out some EVH tones in their office or bedroom.
Had an Iconic combo for about 7 months. It totally rocked, but sadly had issues ( disappearing low end and volume issues that couldn't be solved by tube changes). Sold it and eventually got the OG 5150 head instead, and I have no regrets. I just wish EVH improves their QC a bit more because I wouldn't have minded keeping that killer little 40w combo. I may consider picking this one up just for a little house rock machine.
See if you can finds a Peavey Bravo combo or A Peavey Rockmaster all tube pre amp for cheap. The Peavey Usa Bravo and Rackmaster all tube pre amp were both built and see designed by James Brown who did this new amp. The old Peavey stuff is so close to the same evh icon series but let your ears describe the sounds you are looking for.
I have one, really like it for at home, fun to fiddle with. You need to send the presence and resonance to get it to sound big...more twiddling needed for this video
It’s a practice amp and it’s sounds good ! For house stuff is perfect great valvle tone headphone input best option to have fun without deystroy the house🔥
Great demo Nick! Just once I'd like to hear Don's interpretation of EVH, Jake E. Lee, era of metal, and Nick's interpretation of the Oakridge Boys, Conway Twitty era County sound 😁
Just went to Sweetwater for the first time to day. I played a Wolfgang through a 5150 iconic 40 watt, wish they had this there so I could crank it up and not disturb people in the guitar section 😂
Mine is arriving tomorrow. Too bad he didn't do more clean to moderate gain tones,as being single-end Class A [1x6L6] should give a spongier, harmonically rich tone. But it is an amp geared toward EVH fans and metal players, so this video makes sense, overall.
I wish this was my dad....he is so nice, so cool and shreds. My dad washes paper plates, forces his neighbors to pay him to mow their lawn and he stopped wearing pants a few years ago.
Glad to see some good tube combo amps under $1k with modern features these days. Would have been cool to see some evh type effects thrown in like a phaser but I guess that’s why you need to buy the pedals.
Fellas this man has got a great right(lol left hand picking hand southpaw) hand, that’s how you play heavy guitar. I always enjoy Nick’s demo videos because he covers the tones I want to hear can it do clean, can it do AC/DC , can it thrash ? Does it rawk! The Matt Heafy Epiphone sounded killer thick through it. Nick says he’s sloppy, he’s not sloppy it’s RnR and I believe he pretty much does it live in the room? Most RUclips guitarist play to a mistake free edited backing track . They are playing but the “live” level is lower.
I use to Marshall was the best until I bought Two Vox valvetronix hybrid Amps in 2007 and 2009 both have Electro Harmonix gold pin 12Ax7 Tubes in them very versatile and sounds incredible even 14 and 16 years later..I would never part with them
would you say this has more output against a Fender Blues Junior? Which one would do better playing with a drummer? I don't mean playing leads, I mean playing rhythm in a more clean setting as opposed to super-crunch heavy metal.
That amp. is totally amazing. 100 pounds of dynamite in a 5 pound box. What more would you need.. I owned a early 70's Fender Princeton Reverb (15 watt / single 10) that I sold and I could still kick myself to this day for letting it go.
Awesome amp, amazing dirve but crazy underated cleans. I think the mic for this vid kind of destroyed the review though. Sounds like a plasma fuzz at 100
I mean that's what the 40w combo is for. They already had a 1x12. Now they're releasing a 1x10 15w and a 2x12 version to cover all the bases. You wouldn't catch me ever buying anything with smaller than a 12" speaker, the only exception to that rule would be something like the Yamaha THRs which were the best sounding "little" amps ever made imo.
How does someone at your playing level decide what to play I would go insane trying to play everything lol. Obvious choices for this video well played!!!!

I have both the 15 and the 40 and the 15 watt is lighter and more useful. The 40 is almost too much. If the 15 was available at the same time the 40 was i would have left the 40 at the store.
It’s not way cheaper because we didn’t strip it down on the features like most companies do….same preamp with same tube compliment, big transformers to operate class A, closed back, custom Celestion 10 where most would use a cheaper speaker, same full EQ and Resonance/Presence, same loop, 1/4 power switch, standby, same, and comes with the footswitch.
Hi, B Tee. The amp is loud enough that you’ll likely be able to hear it with drums but at only 15W, it will likely be pushed to it’s peak. By that point the amp will be compressing and you’ll lose a lot of the tightness and definition in the bottom end. These amps are great for home use and recording, but if you’re going to be playing with a drummer or gigging, I’d recommend looking at one of 50W models. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com
This has been one of the better sounding videos on this amp. Most I hear make this thing sound boxy and way to many mids... So, in real life, how does the 10 in give as for low end?
They all sound too bright and fizzy on RUclips demo/videos... but the sound is MUCH deeper in person. It never goes dark, but definitely a lot richer than the youtube videos make it sound like, and without the fizz..... i tried it with a Tele and with a Les Paul, sounds amazing with both.
I couldn’t have been a bigger fan of Eddie’s. But for some reason, I have never been even slightly interested in trying to play his music or buy his gear.
For $100 more you can get the 40 watt. This would be in my house if it were cost little less. This price makes no sense. For example Vox AC 30 = 1,299, AC 15 = 899.
meh. Who is this amp designed for?.. The 40 watt version($100 more) sounds sick while this 15 watter sounds thin and anemic. It could just be a shit job of mic placement but more probably it's the 10" speaker. Pro Tip: Get the 40 watt version and buy an attenuator so you can push the amp and control volume.
No offence, but i found the tones in this video horrible. I could guess it is because i'm not used to 10inch speakers. And this one really does sound FIZZY. Thank you for the up to date Review!
What happened in that opening was a whole lot of mixing and post EQ-ing (specifically low pass filtering those guitars). The way the amp sounds shrill and fizzy in the rest of the video is simply what that 10 inch speaker naturally sounds like. Not exactly ideal for huge 5150 style high gain. I'd be very curious to hear what these amps sound like through a good cab though.
You will likely find this well below MAP if you wait a few months. You can find the 40w for cheaper than the 15w. You should be able to get this ~15% off not too soon after release.
