I love that amp combo! I own the white version and play a Ibanez RG550 on that amp. Great sound and much more versatile than I thought.
I have the 40 watt 1x12. Fantastic amp. I also have a block letter 5150 that I’ll never sell. The Iconic sounds close to the original amp. The channel layout is the same as well with the Iconic having the better clean channel if you want one. The 5150 iii line has a different tone, more compressed and modern. I’m really liking the options in the Iconic lineup, can’t wait to see what they offer next.
Right on! Bought a 5150 with a Marshall Cab at Sweetwater 2 years ago. Super pleased with the features, versatility and of course, the sound. For most of my bands set list I am on the blue channel and kick up a notch with a JHS Bonsai.

This amp is awesome. Sounds amazing with a Les Paul.
I like the Iconic more than the 5150iii, but only because you can get a bit better old school hairy distortion from it with Channel 1. Channel 2 sounds a bit more compressed and great for a more modern sound; and then even more with the Burn switch, which gets it closer to the 5150iii.
Both channels are epic. Super price and the noise gate, reverb, 1/4 power, DI Out options and built-in Boost... it clears any competition. Channel 1 alone beats MANY amps... with the 2nd channel is an all out wash.
If you like any hard rock and any metal... this amp is brilliant.
A chorus pedal and/or an ODrive set to no gain makes the clean channel sparkle and chime.
Fabulous playing. Great sounding amps. I wish I had room for a 5150, it's my favourite guitar sound. I'll have to make do with the pedal/models.
Need to put wheel casters on that 60w 2x12 combo amp, unless your a body builder and can lug it around 😅
The 212 comes with casters….and it weighs about 10 pounds less than the 412. So quite a bit more portable than a half stack.

I actually prefer the sound of these amps over the EVH III.
Me too. More open hairy distortion. Better for old school metal and any hard rock. Channel 1 is brutal.
But it can also do the higher gain, high compression and tigther tone with the Ch2 on Burn.

Yes. I have played it live and play at 4. It can do it.
Yep, 100% suitable. The thing is, you can still buy a EVH 112 Cab or another 212 to add to how big it will sound when you need more. And you're still at a lower price point than lots of amps.
If you want big stages or loud outdoor shows... that's when the 80W head comes in. But for almost ANYTHING indoors, let alone rehearsing, the 40W is plenty.
😂 Honestly the 40 watt combo is loud enough for outdoor festival gigs. It holds up just fine outside with Master volume on 7 for myself 😮 it's freaking loud ! I Don't even need the EVH stealth 212 cabinet but it's sitting up higher and hits my ears on stage better when sitting up high on the speaker cabinet.

I Don't know which one sounds like Edward, pretty much the only one that sounds close to me is the stealth or an old Marshall honestly sounds more like Eddie !
