I have been copying Eddie since the day I first heard him in clubs throughout LA county. I've also seen a ton of guys here on RUclips trying to do his technique(s). You are by far the go-to guy when it comes to Eddie. Nobody compares. When I want to relearn something from my hero, I am coming here from now on. Thanks for pouring your heart into this you can tell you do...
@@s4nderino yes I have watched a lot of his videos also. Both outstanding guitar players. But as far as instructions go, this guy keeps it very simple! I like that...
Robert Im a bday boy on 8-2-2022 57 years young. Started playing at 16 played strictly acoustic for 14 years although I was a Union Ironworker in Cleve Oh, I played lots when not working, until on 3-28-2000 I was knocked off the Iron injurying my spinal cord,21 years later I finally was able to pick up a guitar again, my children started playing my old acoustics and after awhile Nicholas at SweetWater hooked em up with some pleked Schecters. I tried them and was able to play electric not acoustic but Im back. I missed so much learning over the years I had LPs no Utube ... So I do appreciate these tips. Thanks Bro !
Love, love, love how you're focusing in on the little flourishes that made him the king. Thanks so much. Adding as much of this to my repertoire as possible.
2:00 - Mathias Jabs on his six-string-sting does the same thing. Very cool thing to do. Always gets the audiences attention when I do it - both the guys AND the ladies.
Great lesson Robert. You definitely clear up what I call the 'impossible unknown', especially when it comes to EVH. Thanks a million for your hard work and effort.
Nice little EVH video, on the cool Frankenstrat that I'd bet most of us are just drooling with envy (not true biblical envy, because that would mean we don't want _you_ to have it, and we love you bro and, you deserve it!) because we don't have one!
Robert - the DETAIL of sliding the hand forward for a rake is a detail I didn't know! Thanks for the help. And I'm digging the Rock'n Roll Boot camp! 😀
I have gotten so much from this video, and I'm barely halfway through. I have been obsessed with learning the tapped harmonics since hearing Darrell Braun do them a few years ago. I'm going to check out your course and probably sign up for your Patreon if you have one. This is GOLD to me 🤘😎
Hey Robert. I asked you question about a Les Paul that would just not stay in tune. Thank you for your response. I have not tried it yet, but I look forward to trying it. Thank you again!
I just recently rcvd an EVH Frankie like yours. I almost had a heart attack from the happy glorious surprise!!! 🎶🎸🤘 Your explanations & videos are the best!!! Thnx for doing what you do brother!!!
Man you got a really great sound coming out of that guitar dude you know what it should you know what that's a compliment to to that guitar player ready for Van Halen you know that beyond the legendary player
Edward like Bonham were genius not for their complexity(though they could shine in that dept when needed) but for their mastery of the difficult Swing. To me, as a drummer who had studied with Joe Morello and Joe Porcaro, Swing profiency is big key to making your playing fun, interesting and memorable.
Freaking great! Love this! I know there's a ton of time and practice in this stuff, but this just simplified my conceptualizing. I knew the fundamentals of the 12 frets higher, I just need time to put it into play. Thank you, Rick!
At the beginning of “Everybody wants some” he does a couple power chords and then does some weird guitar noise stuff. The first two times it’s like, some kind of weird harmonics. But the third one is this high bend that goes down and down with a lot of reverb. Very cool. I’d like to know how to do that.
EDDIE was the best in MODERN MUSIC PLAYING(LIKE JIMI WAS IN HIS TIME)🎸🎸🎼🎶🎸! THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER (EDDIE OR JIMI)EVER AGAIN,NEVER 🎸🎸🎼🎶🎶🎶😢NEVER!!HOWTHEY ARE BOTH SO MISSED 😞.👍✌️😎🇺🇸BOB.
To be fair, almost anything learned from Eddie will make you sound better.
The man is a perennial treasure trove of genius ideas involving guitar.
He does the trill harmonics after the solo on Somebody Get Me a Doctor!
He also does it on the first part of the "You're No Good" solo
At the end of Sucker in a 3 piece as well
those first 5 VH albums will never get old, its pure EVH tone, and it definitely change the rock and roll industry for good..

Yeah baker is good but Cameron Cooper is also a go-to guy imo 😁

"there's a hair in my eye" 😂
I know how annoying that can be. I've had a hair in my eyelash before. THE WORST! 😂
Lol I grew mine really long again.. And it's so annoying lol..
it’s the new: “I’ve got blisters on me fingers!”

I love these kinds of lessons. It's the little nuances that make up for great playing.
Thanks Robert!
Love, love, love how you're focusing in on the little flourishes that made him the king.

Thank you Todd.
In 40 years we will still be discovering new Eddie's tricks.
2:00 - Mathias Jabs on his six-string-sting does the same thing. Very cool thing to do. Always gets the audiences attention when I do it - both the guys AND the ladies.
Eddie is the KING. Thanks Robert!
“Every time I do that, there’s a hair in my eye!” Yep. That’s me and VH.
Great lesson Robert. You definitely clear up what I call the 'impossible unknown', especially when it comes to EVH. Thanks a million for your hard work and effort.
Top Jimmy is a great one for the tapping. Another great lesson!!! Thx Robert 🎸
Those are some awesome tricks right there especially the harmonics at the end . Knowing the secret is going 12 fretz up

Plenty of people know how to play but don’t know how to teach to get the message across. You are able to do both better than anyone else.

The harmonic tapping is one of his best skills. I've yet to try any of that other than the into to 'Mean Streets'
I'm always going to give you props Robert because I know what a journey this has been so keep being yourself bro

Great Job Robert ! I read all or most of the comments and if I see a scammer I report it for you. Rock On Brother !!!
Thank you, Mrs. Baker! Nice camera work.
When you leave in those little bloopers in and you can hear the camera person (your wife I think?), it is a really charming touch.
Great explanation thx!!! I learned some new stuff and I’ve been playing a long time. EVH has such cool techniques

Fantastic video! Learned a lot
Love these videos Robert!
That was fantastic stuff Robert. I definitely learned something new with this video.
Great content!
I believe Eddie actually used the side of his pinky on his right hand for those trill harmonics.
Love you Robert ...God bless You brother
Pelajaran ini sangat membantu saya sejak saya pernah belajar musik di Pulau Bali.
Good video Robert thanks for posting this
Thank you for the video
Wow! I thought i respected Eddie already! This is yet another dimension. Thank you so much!

Cool video and playing. Eddie Van Halen rocks! Your sound is amazing! What are you using?
The first one is also in Fools from Women and Children First, without the harmonics
Trill harmonic is found in You’re No Good from VH II
1st song I remember EVH doing the trill harmonic is in Good Enough off 5150
best lesson I've seen yet
Awesome info thanks
Awesome as usual Robert 👏
Your lessons are da bomb.. Your tone is a Mega Bomb!!!
