It probably should have been noted that God Magnus is actually a hybrid homage. He's not just based on Ultra Magnus, but also God Bomber, who had been the first transformer to combine with a variation of Optimus.
Its something thats been heavily hinted at ever since the days of G1, given the fact Ultra Magnus' original toy had a recolour of Prime's original toy so fan speculation about them being brothers was a thing and years later it effectively became official in some continuities.

Satoshi Hashimoto, the voice of Fire Convoy in Transformers Car Robots is the same Japanese VA behind Kim Kaphwan and Terry Bogard in most of the early King of Fighters and Fatal Fury games up to the early 2010s.
They've said before they they won't re-release Haslab figures, as that would cheaper the "exclusivity" of them and put-off potential backers for upcoming projects.
@primalconvoy No, they haven't, they've said they'll never reissue them. Them never making repaints is 100% assumption. Also, fuck exclusivity to begin with.
I love how in the US power up names are like "Omega Prime" And in Japan they are like: "DEVIL GOD FIRE CONVOY. 🔥" They do go all in with their power ups even when they are just three robots combining 😂
In japan anime called "Transformers Car Robots" Super Fire Convoy and God Magnus formed combined into strongest God Fire Convoy, using most powerful weapon Super God Sword encounter final battle against Devil Gigatron.

@@gabrielchee8470 God Ginrai was basically the origin of this however it was more heavily popularized in the Brave Series where circumstances would force the main Brave to either be incapacitated thus replaced or needing a new armor for their battle mode however after the original recovers the 2 would combine into the Great Combination the pinnacle of that Brave's fighting power. By Might Gaine a new archetype would appear with Might Gunner becoming a final weapon for Great Might Gaine's Perfect Mode. The trend would continue for J Decker having Gunmax combine with J decker in both battle modes. Goldran would have Sorakage equip as a pair of wings, Dagwon would have 2 weapons Lian as a sword and Gunkid as the Brave Cannon. GaoGaiGar would be the most recognizable one becoming an arm to wield the Goldion Hammer. as one can see transformers adopted both archetypes after being revived all throughout the 2000's

Boy, fans of G1 must've felt that their balls were blown off when Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus fused for the first time. Absolute worlds had collided because Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus just didn't utilize the power to combine with other cybertronians until then. It just didn't happen. This was like the equivalent of Megazord combining with Dragonzord and Titanus to become the Ultrazord.
Transformers R.I.D01 really got me into Transformers back then especially knowing about Autobots & Decepticons. Seeing Omega Prime for the first time was a awesome & was a game changer for the Autobots.
RiD 2001 missed me entirely, but I’m happy for its fans that the HasLab was so successful. Between this and the Victory characters, there’s an exciting sense of “anything could happen!” to these crowdfunding announcements.
I remember getting a yellow version of Fire Convoy (Optimus) when I was a kid and I was SO annoyed by it because the part with the ladder that goes over the head never wanted to stay in place when I put him in his super mode. I loved how the figure looked and having Optimus be a firetruck instead of a semi was cool to me (I had never seen the show) but that one part of the toy always kept me from playing with it and made it just a figure for my shelf.
Wasnt there an RiD2001 episode when Megatron was trying to bring in the Decepticons that he pulled a bunch of Stasis Pods from the remainder of the Axalon from Beast Wars? Its been obviously ages from watching the show but I had always liked that nod
The original Super Fire Convoy was the first Transformer I ever bought through the internet (not counting eBay) back in 2000. Thanks, BigBadToyStore! Proceeded to get the rest of the Car Robots line, as well. Boy, was my wife pissed when they all got imported as RID2001! 😂
I think it would be cool if they mixed it up a bit. Like, have RID 2001 "Optimus" and "Ultra" use the original Japanese story they had, making them simply characters inspired by Optimus and Magnus, and also have Omega Prime be his own separate person when he is formed. That's how I would do it.
I backed it because I have fond memories of playing with these toys as a kid back in '01, but I hadn't realized we'd have to wait an entire year to get them 😂😂

4:22 Devil god fire convoy some like a good name for a combination that had a big hand
I was going to pass on the HasLab Omega Prime figure(s), but thanks to Chris McFeely's "The Basics" series, I have been reminded of how special Omega Prime is to the Transformers franchise.
I loved Robots in Disguise. Scourge was my favorite thing about the series, but I really liked the Prime/Magnus dynamic as well. Also, trains... Very good series.
Satoshi Hashimoto, the voice of Fire Convoy in Transformers Car Robots is the same Japanese VA behind Kim Kaphwan and Terry Bogard in most of the early King of Fighters and Fatal Fury games up to the early 2010s.
I really hope we end up getting a Splendid Convoy version of Haslab RID Optimus
They've said before they they won't re-release Haslab figures, as that would cheaper the "exclusivity" of them and put-off potential backers for upcoming projects.
@primalconvoy No, they haven't, they've said they'll never reissue them. Them never making repaints is 100% assumption.
Also, fuck exclusivity to begin with.
Every time i look at any of these designs, i remember how much i can’t wait for the HasLab release.
It’s honestly kinda crazy that characters from an almost 20 year year old anime can become an extremely successful haslab project
I love how in the US power up names are like "Omega Prime"
And in Japan they are like: "DEVIL GOD FIRE CONVOY. 🔥"
They do go all in with their power ups even when they are just three robots combining 😂
Thats why the Japanese names are more badass!
@@GinraiPrime666 Absolutely, yes! 😂
In japan anime called "Transformers Car Robots" Super Fire Convoy and God Magnus formed combined into strongest God Fire Convoy, using most powerful weapon Super God Sword encounter final battle against Devil Gigatron.
Neil Kaplan done an Awesome job on voicing the English dubbed for this Robots in Disguised Optimus Prime !
In all honesty this was one of my favorite versions of prime When it came to appearance right after the Transformers prime TV show, Because when you think of a hero that isn't a superhero A firefighter is usually the first thing that comes to mind Is and they fit the qualification of Strong enough to be gentle Much like the inspiration behind generation one prime
I thought the name should have been Ultra Prime. Just sounds so better. Hopefully I will see you at the convention next week Chris, and never been to one yet.
Another great basics episode.
Congrats on getting the Spychanger Yellow Splendid Convoy correct. Most people just that ALL yellow Optimus Prime's are female when the Sam's Club/Universe yellow version is not.
I’ve always liked this design of Ultra Magnus and at times I like to think it’s a reformatted version of the G1 Magnus.
I'm really looking forward to Haslab Omega Prime
Thank you, Chris. This made my day very much. I always really enjoyed 2001 robots in disguise, and now I get to bring both Optimus and Magnus home for the first time. I'm excited beyond the charts for this release from the HasLab. This was also a educational piece to where I wasn't sure where else I could go to enjoy the 2001 medium. Now I got knowledge, I appreciate this. Take care, we'll catch you on the next video.
You’d think that omega prime would be the combination of Optimus prime and omega supreme
I recall being a little surprised back in the day when they didn't reuse the name for Energon!
@@ChrisMcFeelyJapan did name the combination Omega Convoy though, likely by coincidence
It would be cool if Prime could combine with Omega Supreme
I had both of these and, the funny thing is the original toys didn't seem to show that they combined until after it happened in the show 😂
Japanese original transformers are so fascinating and the names often get so fun I love Devil God Fire Convoy
Great vid as always bro, keep up the good work.
Cheeky way you filled the episode with both backstories. Nice 👍🏾
Edit: sooooo cool they’re coming back! And figured it’d be a HasLab; too big and obscure to be separate regular releases.
I can not wait to get my copy of the haslab omega prime! Thanks for this fun episode brother!
Hello there Chris McFeely and fellow Transformers fans. I do apologize for the tardiness of this comment, but when this video was dropped, I was on my way to work and was busy all day long. Anyways, I just wanted to say that this new video dealing with Omega Prime from Car Robots was absolutely awesome. I really enjoyed the information/lore from this video and have to admit that this was one character from the Car Robots series that I really enjoyed and actually glad that we are getting a toy of this character.
Anyways, thank you once again for this wonderful video and I hope that you and everyone else in the community has a great day and terrific weekend. Until All Are One. Peace Out and Maximize.
Hi Chris, even though you're Asleep Great video about Transformers: The Basics on Omega Prime, keep them coming, Also your latest video was Incredible, Also Omega Prime is one of my favorite Optimus Prime Convoy of all time, Also Omega Prime is still one of my favorite and best Autobots of all time in The 2001 Transformers RID Continuity, Also I too like to use the name, 'Omega Prime' as the thirteenth prime's true name and in the RID 2001 universe, Omega Prime is the physical manifestation of the thirteenth prime himself from the matrix. In Some Continuities Optimus himself doesn't want to believe he's the thriteenth prime reborn for much the same reason you mentioned. He sees himself as an Autobot no different from Ironhide or Bumblebee. He doesn't want to be seen as anything more than that. I find that very relatable. The Haslab for Omega Prime is the third Transformers crowd funding project I've backed. I was quite impressed by how much support it garnered so quickly. ROD. Singlehandedly. Has one of the Best intros of all time. Also I too like that Optimus and Ultra Magnus are like brothers rather than just comrades. Also Hopefully the Haslab will make Hasbro realize how beloved RID 2001 is! More figures for the line and hopefully, someone there will figure out who actually owns the distribution rights for the series l so we can actually watch or own the series again, Also I loved the idea, Optimus become such reowned figure. That in future there a bunch of OP clones that lead a few branch of Autobots. Also Yellow Splendid Convoy was a cool and fun expansion of a great character! Hope she gets explored more in the future❤️ Also It's good to see the 2001 Car Robots/Robots in Disguise series getting some love recently. I was likewise happy to see that version of Scourge/Black Convoy make a triumphant return, and on the big-screen no- less. I hope he and other characters and concepts from that series get another look in the future. Also Fun fact,: Omega Prime's English voice actor also voiced Megatron/Galvatron in that show too. I was going to pass on the HasLab Omega Prime figures, but thanks to Chris Mcfeely's "The Basics" series, I have been reminded of how special Omega Prime is to the Transformers franchise. Also Another great basics episode. Also thank you for sharing Chris and even though you're Asleep all i can say is: keep up the good work stay safe out there and have a great weekend.🙂🟢🦸👍🇺🇲💪✌️🏋️12:50 am.
Poor Ultra Magnus. Joining Windblade and... Uh... Also Windblade... And Leobreaker as being nothing more than power mushrooms for Optimus Prime.
Wing Saber. Not Windblade m8.
Huh, is it a trend that most of these are from Japan?
Rotf Jetfire feels like the only power up shroom made in the west
@@gabrielchee8470and even then, that was an homage to Armada Jetfire, another Japanese version. Combining mecha are just popular in Japan it seems.
@@GurrenPrime They've been popular since the 70s,
@@gabrielchee8470 God Ginrai was basically the origin of this however it was more heavily popularized in the Brave Series where circumstances would force the main Brave to either be incapacitated thus replaced or needing a new armor for their battle mode however after the original recovers the 2 would combine into the Great Combination the pinnacle of that Brave's fighting power.
Wonderfully informative as always! Would you consider doing a Basics on the Destructons?
I don't have the haslab but i do have the original rid omega prime, MIB from back in the day. I was excited to see TFs returning to cars (although i like BW too) but at the time i did not like all the parts-forming. I was also just getting my career started so i was really focused on other things outside of TFs. 10:54 Now i look back on them fondly and dug them out of story to display.
4:42 ULTRA MAGNESS I NEED YOUR HELP!
Only a matter of time until Gigatron shows up.
He'll probably be a Commander class, AT LEAST.
Transformers R.I.D01 really got me into Transformers back then especially knowing about Autobots & Decepticons. Seeing Omega Prime for the first time was a awesome & was a game changer for the Autobots.
Not only did i back up Haslab for Omega prime. But thanks to you i have learned i have Yellow Splendid Convoy the female Prime😄
6:57. And it hurts my eyes.
I need to rewatch this series again. It was second (technically third) introduction to transformers. First being beast wars/beast machines.
1:28 wait you're telling me all this time fire convoy isn't actually optimus prime? Well damn. That's a pill to swallow all right.
9:54 =now optimistic!!!!
i want to get all the parts back!!!
Please next Basics Thunderwing please
Wasnt there an RiD2001 episode when Megatron was trying to bring in the Decepticons that he pulled a bunch of Stasis Pods from the remainder of the Axalon from Beast Wars? Its been obviously ages from watching the show but I had always liked that nod
Great video! Omega Prime is such a cool toy
Love how the Hasbro version basically gave Omega Prime the Dragon Ball fusion treatment of having a whole new identity when a fusion happens
I grew up with Cybertron toys on the shelves and I NEVER once knew that Fire Convoy and God Magnus were re-released for that toyline
Devil God Fire Convoy is such a killer name
OG RID was my jam growing up!
5:40 So essentially like Vegito or Gogeta from DBZ then?
Yep! I bought these two toys back in the day and I still have them.
10:54 i randomlly got it for christmas/didnt know about the show when i got it,only the other 3 shows=armada.
I backed this Haslab. I actually bought two. Couldn't help myself.
I have these in the box original.
So happy I got them all those years ago.
I did, they look great and I'm really looking forward to getting them in hand.
Yes, I backed it and can't wait to get these figures in hand!
I backed it because I have fond memories of playing with these toys as a kid back in '01, but I hadn't realized we'd have to wait an entire year to get them 😂😂
I backed the Haslab project and am looking forward to it. I never had the figure as a kid.
Love this episode, surprised you didn't do the crossover toyline today since its may the 4th. but this episode is awesome.
