- i went back to my roots! this is a character named tallie, who i used to doodle on MS paint with a laptop trackpad when i was in elementary/middle school. it felt pretty good to work with something so simple, that i was vaguely familiar with from my childhood (this time with a tablet)

@@dex6061 well to be fair, cross-hatching doesn't have to look super clean in order to be good. It's meant to emulate shading here thus it follows the shapes and contours of the face

The thing that people dont understand when I say MS Paint is a bad art program - I mean it - it only has a handful of features and is simply not good enough to make proffesional art. However this does not mean that you can't make good art on it at all.
It's a super basic/entry level program. You can do some really good stuff with it given time and patience. It's just that there isn't all of the advanced art stuff you see with SAI or Krita or even FireAlpaca.

Tassie is a really cute character. I love that she's some character you used to draw on MS in elementary school, and now you went back on MS paint with your pro skills and just made a masterpiece according to your description.

Oh boy... I remember working with this program - literally the only art program I have ever worked with - when I was like six or seven and being super proud when I drew something that was recognizable as an apple and a house XD My grandpa would sit at his desk watching me sketch with a mouse on his old chunky computer and just smile fondly and occasionally drop tips on how to fix my art XD This just made me very very excited that I'll be staying at his place for the coming weekend!

as someone who used ms paint for their almost entire life, i can totally relate to taking 1 hour on this piece and not using other apps to edit it at all. truly stunning, i never thought anyone else used ms paint to draw!
