  • This pixel art animation is a revisiting of an old project I did in a high school computer programming class back in 2001. It's where I learned how to use MS Paint as well as I use it today and there's some good story behind it as well; which I share here. I created it using The Windows 98 version of Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Animate; which is the new version of Adobe Flash.
This features an Independence Day Parade with marching soldiers and cheering sprites, including a veteran, lined up along the street. It's based on the traditional American Folk Art style. I'm really happy with how everything looks animated, especially since this is my first time doing animation like this in 19 years.
Leave a comment below if you had mentors like me in high school, teachers who went above and beyond to help you in one way or another to become who you are today. If so, do you keep in contact with them?
In this video, I mention my comic book series, The MSPaint Comic. If you'd like to support my videos and art, purchasing a copy of The MSPaint Comic would be a huge help! You can get a copy of my books (signed for no additional cost) from my website:
    www.ktracy.com
My books are also available with free shipping from Amazon Prime (unsigned):www.amazon.com...
Kudos to @KamicarzCreations for putting up this video that helped me learn Adobe Animate REALLY quickly so I could finish this project!

If you're using MSPaint, you probably have a pixel or two that are open to the other side. Follow the line from one end to the other to look for gaps for the fill to break though.
If you're using software like Paint.Net, Photoshop, Illustrator, or ClipStudio, there is a setting called "Threshold" in the fill tool. This determines an acceptable color variance between pixels for the fill to continue. If you're doing pixel art like me, you want Threshold to be set to zero.
      I hope that helps.

@@luisitodelacruz7090 Okay, in that case, select the fill tool and on the top in the tool options bar, you'll see a setting for "Tolerance." Change that to 0 (zero) and try again. That should fix your problem. Let me know if you still have trouble.
Feel free to share what you're doing on Twitter, too. My handle is @ktracycom

Awe thank you so much for the shout out! And the Wequ thing is from my high school days also. The wequ bit was just me hitting random letters on the keyboard needing to label something. Pretty sure it was in a spreadsheet assignment. For some reason it stuck with me, and when I made my 2nd email ever I decided to put those letters into it. So I turned it into my internet calling card. Even the old account of mine on My Space uses the Wequ letters. Personally I'd always pronounce it in my head as "We-Que" but honestly I like your attempt at saying it more. Enough about my rambling, your story was very touching. I'd love to one day have an art piece commissioned by you in your style. Thank you for your service and working along side my countries service members. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
Thanks to Social Media I feel lucky enough to be able to keep in touch with my drama course teacher. Also for a period of 3 years after leaving school I kept encountering my 4th grade teacher, Mr. Allan.

Thank you for bringing up Paint 98! I hadn't used this version of Paint in a really long time.
I'm glad to hear you're still talking to your drama course teacher. That's awesome!
Also, if you want to check out the art prints I already have, you can find them over at www.ktracy.com/product-category/prints/ - the shipping tube is pretty small, so it shouldn't cost much to get it up there. At some point, I plan on doing my first international art/comic show in Canada, but I'm still a while away from being ready to do that. (I haven't been to Canada since before we needed a passport to cross the border)
