Cintiqs are great and all, but how fancy your tablet really doesn't have anything to do with how nice/"good" your art is! My close friend bought a cintiq but hasn't progressed in 5 years honestly from stiff lines + poses and bland shading. On the other hand, my best friend always has only a wacom bamboo pen (no touch) and she is now a freelance artist with often full slots of $100-150 single commissions? I'm sorry if this comes off in a harsh way ;-; I just want to put it out there that your tools can be top of the line most expensive stuff, but efforts you take to improve and go out of your comfort zone is what will get much farther. It's a shame when people buy super expensive tablets thinking that's what will make them a Good Artist^tm

I feel like it depends on the person honestly. For example, my art has improved in the 6 months or so since I've gotten my cintiq-alike (Read, same type of tablet, different company). However, it's due to the fact it allows me to work more like on paper and quicker, so in turn I work on more things and get more practice and improve. I do agree that JUST owning/using one doesn't immediately transform you into some great artist though, not by itself alone.
