To be honest, speed tests are becoming less and less relevant, because they are both so fast now. A few milliseconds here and there doesn't matter to most people. Even the slower game times on the S23 weren't deal-breakers - it's still in the top 10% of phones, I'd bet. I'd say the main reason to choose one or the other these days is the operating systems. If you like IOS, get iphone, if you like OneUI, get Samsung. I personally lean towards iphone, but I can totally see how someone else would buy the Samsung.
Agree with everything but will add one more thing. If you're indifferent to the OS and simply want the best phone, get the Galaxy S23 Ultra or wait for the S24 Ultra.
@nickackermanchannel nick I've noticed something I have a exynos s22 ultra that used to have so many micro stutters and lag I don't use gestures I use buttons it's way smoother. Since one ui 6 its way better and the stock apps like clock phone message etc are much more snappier. You should try s21 ultra s22 ultra ans s23 ultra speed just like you did 13pm 14 pm 15pm
Ive got the 23 Ultra. I would say it has improved since launch and I gotine during the pre-order. Seems all of the updates have made a big difference in everything from battery life to the camera being much better. After the one UI 6 update I got two days ago as I am in Canada my cell reception has improved and it holds onto and regains the aignal faster as well and doesnt hang on 3g anymore like it used to when dropping off LTE. Love the phone.
Upgraded from the 11 to 15 pro max phone this is my first pro iPhone boy and I’m blown away…. (Update I haven’t charged my phone in 2 days and it’s still alive this phone is nuts)

Both are really fast. The 15 pro-max's heat management has improved. The Samsung S-23 Ultra 's new software update (One UI 6) improves its performance as well. I have to give the edge to the Samsung Galaxy S-23 Ultra this round, it still has better zoom and customization 📱🏁📱🏁📱👍😁

Android especially samsung went quite far in last 5 years. Its equal to iphone now in terms of speed. Yet i dont really understand that cpu benchmark high difference even tho most apps were quicker on samsung
I was considering between these two, but I'm glad I went with the 15 pro. Slightly bigger screen than my previous XS, but a huge increase in hardware. Also, the A17 chip is new and it will only get faster and more efficient with the upcoming IOS updates!
One ui 6 just launched, give it some time to fix these little things with updates , All phones have some bugs when launching new os version For example iphones overheated, oneplus got green lines 💀 ...
One UI 6 brought non linear animations. The iPhone has had since iPhone X. When you quickly swipe up an app before it fully opens it closes smoothly. It no longer snaps to full screen when going back. Which reduces the chance of choppiness if the person quickly closes apps.
The animations you speak of are really just swipe gestures. Swipe gestures are apple natural navigation while samsungs are the buttons that's why there's a difference between the two. It's not animations that are better in the iphone it's swipe gestures navigation which is to be expected seeing as samsung out of the box uses buttons. You literally have to dig through the settings to change this for those who don't know. But please do stop referring to the swipe gestures navigation as animations because they are two entirely different categories.
In 2023, performance shouldn't be an essential metric in comparing premium smartphones. For 95% of users the performance on any mid to premium range smartphone should be nearly identical. Not a deal maker or deal breaker for me.
The iPhone 15 pro max has a faster CPU which is good for a normal usage. But on heavy usage, S23 Ultra supersedes it with GPU. On graphics, iPhone 15 Pro max is not well optimized that's why it would overheat while you are gaming.
It is strange as I tested a few of these apps in the UK and mine loaded superfast, a lot quicker than iPhone apps in this test. So I am puzzled about apps like Amazon, which open instantaneously for me. So I wouldn’t take this as literal. As for Samsung, One UI 6.0 does need some optimisation so we are not seeing it at its best currently.

@deebocj It's the technique used for controlling the brightness of the display. It isn't something anyone would worry about unless if you have sensitive eyes and get a headache from low PWM displays. If you never had that you're fine

Personally I think Samsung is quicker only cuz it has aggressively quick animations while the iPhone keeps it smooth and steady, which is prolly why iPhone is less prone to glitching and stuff

i just wanna say that a lot of the time the iPhone was obviously way faster opening apps and for whatever reason you gave the points to Samsung (especially with the default iOS & Android apps)
I personally would never go back to Samsung! I have a feeling that modem plays a big part for connecting to different servers! IPhone all the way and I love everything about them! To me IPhone is the Rolls Royce of all cellular!
The only thing keeping me from switching to the S23 Ultra is the squared and sharp edges design. I think I’ll just wait for a better design and stick to my 13 Pro for one more year.
Launching the apps first time is only done once practically we only relaunch these apps most of the time and even 3-4 year old iPhones are just flawless in that and that extra geekbench score and continuous software improvement will make sure that iPhone 15 pro max will improve over time and hold its performance for much longer over 3 years and more.
I refuse to buy a Samsung with Exynos, every single Exynos handset I’ve had, I’ve had to return! Exynos used to the the de facto in the UK, the S23U with Snapdragon is the first I’ve not needed to return
The reason these apps load 1% faster on the Samsung is because on the iPhone every app is locked in a box of its own and has no access to the rest of the phone for obvious security purposes.

The games are loading faster not because of Samsung being weak but it's just the new OS. The same game open way quicker on my S23U running OneUI 5.1.

One ui 6 added the automatic background clean up mode that can't be turned off. Apparently it's more aggressive closing things out now.

You cannot beat SD 8 gen 2 for galaxy with S23 ultra, you will be required Apple bionic A20 3nm or 1 nm to beat S23 ultra 3 nm and 8 gen 2 for galaxy.
I own both. In a nutshell the s23 ultra just embarrasses the iPhone.
