The thing is, Apple has stayed consistent throughout the years but Android has comes leaps and bounds in the last 4 years. Especially Samsung. You compare the S23U to any older phone it instantly blasts it away with all the features, optimization, quality and the longevity of software support too. I would agree that older iPhones vs older Android is a clear cut out deal for Apple but not so much this time. This is just facts, and they honestly don't care for anybody's opinion. So 'hands down' there simply isn't much between these two phones to say one clear winner. You prefer Apple, go for it, you prefer Android, go for it. Lots of folks are too deep into Apple's ecosystem way too much to even consider switching too, which is a clever tactic by Apple lmao.

I guess no need to switch from an iPhone 14 Pro to a S23 Ultra. Bigger screen means more of a hassle to use one handed. S Pen isn't really something I would use, other than as a portable shutter, it doesn't have any critical use cases, just like the Dynamic Island (only if you find yourself drawing or taking notes with a stylus all the time instead of writing notes in the note app).
Performance wise it'll pretty much be the same experience for an average user, playing games now and then.
I guess the question lies in personal preference and which ecosystem you prefer.

I keep getting tempted to Android because of the various features but then when it comes to actually living with the phone and primarily the software, I always get fed up and come back to the iPhone. In the past few years my phone use looked like this in Chronological order: iPhone XS (2 years), Note 20 Ultra (3 Months), back to my old iPhone XS (8 months), Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (6 months), iPhone 13 Pro (10 months), S22 Ultra (2 months), back to iPhone 13 Pro ( 8 Months).
I just find Android, and especially OneUI, to be too janky and missing a lot of the core quality of life features that iOS has. Yes it has a lot of extra features which are cool but the core, most important features, are more mature and fleshed out on iOS. Just my opinion. Currently waiting for the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra and I am looking over the fence at the Android options, wondering if I should make the switch again, but ultimately when I think about the software I just think I should stick with iOS.

I own both an iPhone and a Samsung, so I'm not even particularly biased toward either side. But objectively speaking, the S23U is overall a much better device. The better design, higher resolution, S pen capabilities, much smaller hole punch, and better zoom are all big selling points for the Galaxy. When you compare in terms of features and capabilities, the regular S23 is a much closer competitor to the 14 pro. But even then, I'd say the S23 still beats it AND for a lower price point at that.
Sure, in the past Samsung had always been behind Apple in terms of software support and battery life. But those days are now over as they've pretty much caught up in that regard. Honestly, there's really no point in going for the iPhone unless you're already deeply invested in the iOS ecosystem. Like I said earlier I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can here, but Samsung just offers way more for your money compared to iPhone and its not even debatable.

The "iphone ultra" excuse doesn't hold any water. I care the box price, not the "naming convention. Both cost 1100-1200 bucks. And in EU (where i am coming from) the new lineup of apple saw a price hike over 150 bucks for PM. So a 14PM was 1350 euros. Which not only makes Apple's "non-ultra" smartphone (nonsense) crappier, but also more expensive.
The fact that you get more years of updates with ios doesn't really matter. Let's be honest, what % of the user base keeps it's phones longer than 4 to maximum 5 years? I would argue that's even a disadvantage because their ios upgrades are limited in scope by the old 7-8 year hardware that it should run on. I hope they will address some long awaited features like:
    - multitasking
    - keyboard
    - oversharpening of photos
    - bugs (omg, ios 16)
    - overhaul settings menu and search
    - siri beeing useless
    - etc
I am not a apple hater, just someone who paid almost 1500 euros (~1500 bucks) for a 256 14PM and somewhat disappointed with the overall (non-existent) ios improvements.
And more apple apps in which i can spend even more money do not count. I want my phone to be useful to me, not to get to the point of paying apple 50 bucks a month on subscriptions and apks because i randomly sneezed in my way to work

Sure , I could have entered deep into settings somewhere, but then I'd had to set it back after the transfer.
Took a lot of time to transfer all that info. On android it would have it done in minutes, in the background.
All that optimization is not for free. It comes with lots of drawbacks which lots of people don't seem to know.
If something is shitty on an Iphone, most people will assume it cannot be done, while on android it just works.

In general, I feel like Apple phones are just much more convenient and easier to use. But if your the guy who like more features and a more rectangular design, Samsung is the way to go. Every time I try out an android phone I realize how inferior they all are to iPhone and end up back on iPhone after a week. I hate how android phones receive notifications. On my iPhone 14 Pro Max, when I get a notification, it is prominently displayed on the screen very legibly and I don't even need to touch the phone to see it. Why can't android do this!? On android It's small and easily missed. Then you have to wake the phone and slide down from the top and then open up individual subjects to see all the notifications. On iPhone, they are all prominently displayed and easy to get to.
This is just one of many things that iPhones do better.
Android phones do tend to send gifs and photos better though. For some reason iPhones tend to fail at sending those often. And I don't know why. My Pixel 5 sends them effortlessly. But overall, with iMessage, Facetime, Findmy, the best always on display, FaceID, app security, updates, Continuity and of course, Apple Card, I lose out on all of this when I try Android phones.
So, I want to see reviews when comparing the two to actually get into the real reasons iPhones are truly better than Android phones. ;) And for all the folks getting ready to spam me with ridiculous reasons why you think I'm wrong, don't waste your time. I've tried tons of Android phones and always realize that they still fail to measure up at the important things.
These are my opinions and you are free to disagree with them, even though you are wrong. ;)

Both are pretty good. Samsung S23 here (no Ultra), and I'm pretty satisfied. Feels very close to an iPhone. 🤣 but you really can't go wrong. But these "ecosystem" comments make sense.

I have a Samsung z fold 3 as a work phone and it’s a crazy good phone. It’s the best innovation since the iphone (smartphone).
I agree that android phones have better features in some areas vs iOS and apple hardware.
Just if I cut my iPhone out, all my other devices lose their core multitasking functions and ecosystem benefits; which then kills the idea of switching due to me and my family being tied to apple one with thousands of £££ worth of apple devices between the 6 of us.
The iPhone is is fantastic and solid phone in every department. It might not be the best but it’s a consistently decent experience.

@THX 91 That makes sense. I'm just providing another point. There's still arguments out there about which is better, and I would definitely say that the newer "Android" phones can definitely compete with IPhone. I can see why people prefer them for sure, but I see a lot of the times it's cause of the debate between the two companies. Newer androids can definitely compete with the iPhone, tho. Samsung is just one of them. Google Pixel is good to I hear.

Samsungs definitely take the cake with better displays. The apps are much more complete and well rounded, like the music apps allowing you to swipe. And the keyboard typing is MUCH faster.

Need to compare to 14 Pro Max for apples to apples comparison. And the Pro models are to Apple what the Ultra is to Samsung especially in price so I don’t know why you’d even talk about an iPhone Ultra. Apple has much better resale value too.

Who gives a shit about the resale value? Don't you buy iPhones so that you can use them for at least 5 years? And I agree about the comparison with the Pro Max. I still prefer the Ultra though, although I'll never shell out that much on a fricking phone, it doesn't matter if it is the best phone on the planet. I'm happy with the S20 FE and will maybe switch to a newer FE sometime in the future, as those give lots of flagship features in about half the price.
