Baan Maka is great! Well worth the trip for anyone who likes nature and is in Thailand. I was fortunate enough to spend 3 days there in Feburary this year. I only had the RF100-500 lens with me so F7.1! Low light shooting was hard as you said. Your PF500 F5.6 did very well.
@@RichardCookphotography You're welcome. I didn't go to ban song nok, thought I think I went past it a few times. While at baan maka I visted Lung Sin's hide and Bird's hide, I'm pretty sure from your video you went to one of them as I recognized it. I went in the mornings due to other commitments and was told by other guests that afternoons are the best time to go. They saw a greater variety of birds than I did in the mornings. One to remember for the future. I also went on a guided tour of kaeng krachan with 'Son' and saw asian elephant, sun bear, gibbons, and lots of birds. All organized by baan maka. I'm guessing one of the kind girls was Games?
Great video as ever Richard. What a perfect place beer and photography in one place (but a pity about the taxi driver) 😊I've just returned from South Africa and have so many images including some high ISO images of birds and Birds in Flight - I feel a lot of sorting to be done for my next video. Did you use any denoise on the images?
That taxi ride sounded quite scary Richard, glad it turned out okay in the end. Thanks for sharing with us, so glad you saw so many amazing birds...ps loved the cute little mango eating thingy as well haha
@@kimmaree5701 Thanks so much Kim. Actually I was convinced we weren't going to get there..we drove on empty for ages. His gps stopped working so I was holding my phone's gps in front of his eyes. I got out of the cab pretty distressed and the girls were so kind, they said straight away relax, it's not your fault...I felt much better👍🙏
@@kimmaree5701 Thanks so much Kim. It was lovely. Loads of birds and other wildlife, lovely people and great food. Want to take my family there but they are not interested in that kind of thing🙏🙏
It is natural to ask you if you used denoising software for those fantastic images you took. This is a good example where FF camera has an advantage over other formats. Would you consider your 0M-1 for this trip?
@@lesw.1748 Thanks Les and I think I would yes, it would have struggled in the hide for sure. I would not go to iso 25600 with it. However it would have been fine for the rest of the trip. I would have liked F4 in the hide though👍👍
@@richardfink7666 Hi Richard. Ideally I would have had a larger aperture full frame lens... The OM1 would have done a great job... The backgrounds might have been a bit more difficult to control though👍
@@RichartAsia oh absolutely... He was actually at the front off my hotel and the hotel staff almost gave him my baggage and I said no I've booked a grab ( I think you have that in Singapore ) but he insisted and agreed to the price. Lesson learnt. And thanks to the amazing staff at the lodge I forgot about the experience pretty quickly.
Looks like an amazing place to visit Richard. Very enjoyable to watch!
@@michaelschmid6424 thanks so much Michael. It is a really great place🙏👍
Nice video Richard. What a fantastic range of birds in front of the hide.
@@rogerhance5883 Thanks Roger. Yes it is a really special place🙏
Thanks Richard! I think many of us have a story of a Bangkok cabbie! The high ISO look pretty good. Any denoising post?
@@ScottRitchie-bw9ls Hi mate. I used the Denoise feature on adobe camera raw. It does a pretty good job🙏👍
ISO over 20,000? Amazing! Those look great! I can hardly believe my eyes! Great work!

You clearly need the Z 400/2.8!🤣

@@Sam_new_1 thanks Sam. Yes it is a fab place. I imagine most of the hides are pretty dark no matter what time of year. Did you go to Ban song nok?

Hi Andy. Thank you. Yes it is a great place. And Yes I ran them through the Denoise in camera raw. Look forward to seeing your shots from Africa👍🙏
@@RichardCookphotography I’m loving the denoise in Lightroom. It’s making a great job of my high ISO images

Sure depending on the lens you have one or two aperatures more and the advantage of FF ist almost gone.

I think that the Om-1 mark II with the 150-400 would deliver better results than this Nikon Full frame😂

Always preplan your transport don't just reach and take those at airport the driver must be able to speak English to avoid issues
