Directly I saw your intro I thought that’s not Okinawa. Your pics at the end were varied but the first Goldfinch and the Robin would definitely be keepers for me. At least you got some good feedback on the Z8. Looking forward to the next one.
@@eljayr4669 Thanks Lawrence. Always appreciate the feedback and support. Yes didn’t really like any of the photos to be honest but I always try to share something. Watched a few vids recently from other RUclipsrs about photography and there were no photos at all…a bit disappointing 😀👍🙏
The Sony A9iii pre capture is amazing, I say this having also used the Nikon Z8 & Z9 as well as the OM-1 similar feature. Sony gives you up to 120 fps in RAW with full auto-focus retained.
Hi Richard. Thanks for the video and comments. I have just started using precapture in my new Canon R5-2. Love it! Great for getting the "launch" flight shot of perching birds.
@@FART-REPELLENT I would use object tracking with smell detection on. Auto AF and switch IS on. Here the Insane Smelly setting is vital so it can really pick up the fart early and track it. The problem you are going to have is when the fart travels through other distracting smells…here the AF does sometimes struggle. I was out shooting with my Uncle Barry and his personal hygiene is famously awful and unfortunately my lens has a minimum smell reaction distance of 3.75 meters and as a result my metering was off. In cases like this it is best to shoot downwind and hope for the best. I’m sure I’m probably forgetting something but try these suggestions out. The key though as always is practice, practice and practice. I hope this helps. I am working on a video at the moment where I am out in the field taking lots of FIF shots and going through my settings and techniques. Hope this helps. 👍
I have the Z9 first fantastic camera but never mind the pre release it's 2024 and we don't need 8bit jpeg, What's Nikon thinking? Pure bs if you ask me. And what's worse is the so called Nikon ambassadors saying it's a game changer, What they really need to do is get on Nikons case and stop with the nonsense. If you really want pre capture use the OM-1 or the new canons period.
@@everydaygrandad5642 If money doesn`t matter, yes. If you consider what the OM1can do and what it costs, no. You need new memory cards, maybe a new PC, storage space and more time and last but not least new lenses.
@@everydaygrandad5642 I bought the Z8 which I love but don’t want to let go of my OM1. They both have their strengths. I bought the Nikon because I already had Nikon glass..if I hadn’t I may not have got it👍🙏

Hi Richard! Glad you got to hang with your family and fit some Z8 action in. Cheers!
Thanks mate. So nice to be home and see Mum and my friends. Way too much food and 🍻 though 👍🙏😀
Hi Richard, it is nice to see you again shooting birds in flight. I think your no-keeper images are great.

@@RichardCookphotography Yes it is.
@@ScottRitchie-bw9ls Oh well it probably is a really great feature then…much better than what the z8/9 currently have?!🙏👍
Which Z8 settings would you recommend for photographing farts in flight?

Nice.

Looks like pre-capture in raw is coming to the z9, z8 and hopefully a bump up to 30 fps, by the end of this year.
That would be amazing! But I really hope this happens. There’s only been a few rumours so far
