Someone requested this on Patreon I thought we could do Fear Of The Dark Today. As you know, I usually like to hear studio versions of songs before live performances but the request was specifically for this performance so I had to do it!
Here is my reaction to hearing Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark (En Vivo) for the first time! I hope you enjoy the video!

Maiden is simply one of the GOATs!!! Especially live performances. More please!! Up the Irons!!!!
Let’s get this kid to 50k. I think he’s really appreciating our generation of music everyone share this with someone. 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Just shared it and I agree! 🤘
Yep I'm going to sub. He's digging it.
done that already! I like his stuff! Getting metal back on the map again!
Best metal band ever walked at earth . Fact
So much agreeing whit that 👍🏻
WRONG!!!
They actually levitate
I concur 🤘
Not fact, just an opinion, which I respect tho
@@dadish90 Just an opinio ok .If you consider many factors like , perfomance, energy , live concerts , endurance (44 years on top) , discography and many more , u will find Maiden at the top .
Just remember there would be no Metallica without Iron Maiden. They set the bar in the 80’s and are still going strong world wide.
To quote James Hetfield's exact words "Without Motorhead there'd be no Metallica"
Metallica is good.. except when they aren't... Maiden is CONSISTENTLY good -- decade after decade, every singer....
No correlation what so ever
Fking right! Up the irons!🤠💯🤘🔥🤘🇺🇸
Maiden was an influence, but older bands had far bigger influence on Metallica.
Keep in mind that Maiden had only released their debut at the time that Metallica formed.
Maiden needs to be your first concert! They're always touring and are still AMAZING!
I just love that they unironically wrote a metal song about being scared of the dark.
Everyone is scared of REAL TOTAL DARKNESS! With different degrees and shapes!! It’s inherent! Now most live in a relatively a luminous, visible, safe, expected environments during night mostly!! And every maiden song is at core about existential experiences and pains, if you know and realize well! So every song is metaphorical mostly, with some literal aspects! And what matters first and most for me in the end is the great music and arrangements
This may ruin you going forward because you may never see anything better
1989 Seattle is better
Sabbath created it
Priest gave it identity
Maiden perfected it
Whoa.... 👍
@@ronparsons8786 Metallica sell it!
Slayer slayed it 🗡️ 💀
And people in Nile and Fleshgod Apocalypse, showed where audible melodic end can be.
i agree
The legend *Iron Maiden* this band is a must see live 😁 this is an amazing concert. Another amazing one is this live *Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death - En Vivo!* Awesome reaction as always 🤘😎👍
50 years anniversary is coming up next year MollyBoy and when you REWIND YOUR JUST GIVING MAD RESPECT TO THE ARTIST. IRON MAIDEN WILL BE IN ENGLAND TOURING FOR SURE SOON
Not sure when I'll outgrow rock music. I'm 66 now and you can still here my car coming from 2 blocks away.
IRON MAIDEN YEAH BABY😮
1st time I went to an Iron Maiden show was THE best experience of my life. Everyone there is respectful and it feels like a family. Definitely worth going
Im a lifelong Maiden fan, first show in 1983, and now up to 31 shows, with 2 more coming this year in Japan. No better band live, best fans, and they give 100%
Maiden ALWAYS live. Trust me.
I have been to two maiden concerts in my country Chile, there is no other metal audience in the world, greetings from Chile
That crowd! Especially when you consider that the vast majority of them don't speak English, yet they're phonetically singing along with every word without necessarily knowing what those words mean. Amazing.
No es tan así amigo, en chile fuimos colonizados por ingleses y tenemos una muy buena base de inglés desde muy pequeños nos lo enseñan en todos los colegios
@@thanatos6518 I apologize, my friend. I didn't know that. That's very interesting. Cheers.
@@abacus999 saludos y las mejores vibras
That’s basically me with Rammstein!
@@thanatos6518 Thank you. You, as well.
I love Iron Maiden, I saw them live twice, in 2013 and last year, last year I managed to be in the front row, standing in one place from morning to 9 p.m., one of the best live bands, still despite their age
Iron Maiden is the GREATEST(live;)BAND in the world now and forever🤘
Up the mighty Irons!!!!🤘🤘
Iron Maiden's musicianship is unparalleled.
Always do live Iron Maiden reactions. They are an amazing band that are even better live than in the studio! Love the songs off En Vivio & Flight 666. Dickinson is one of the greatest vocalists and he flies the jet between shows in Flight 666!
That is why every Maiden Fan wants the live versions of their favorite songs.Cause they are fu$%ing amazing to watch!Always high energie, always having fun to play, always flawless!I'm a Maiden Fan for over 36 years now, have seen them 7 times live and they never let you down!Absolute Pros and an absolute Legend! There is no better band than Maiden on this planet,so please do more of them!UP THE IRONS!!🤘
Saw Maiden first in 1979 , still watching them now. They are still THE metal band.
You hit the nail on the head when you said it doesn’t matter how old you are because we can still rock
Rob Halford is 72 years old he still rocking with you Judas Priest. Klaus Mein from the Scorpions is 75. Brian Johnson from AC/DC is 76 and he still rocking and making albums with AC/DC.
Heavy metal doesn’t end till you die
And get your ass to a concert !
Oh hell yeah!! UP THE IRONS!! 🤘🏼\m/🤘🏼
…..there not better than Metallica or AIC ??? Their Better !
“Up The Irons” 🎸🔥🤘🏼❤️
…..not loud enough on our end !
Iron Maiden is one of those bands, where the live versions of the songs are so much better than the studio versions.
A 1000000% agree.
Mmmm no.
They are both great, but seeing them live blows your mind as to how good they truly are😜🤘
YES! One of my favourite songs to play on a late night drive, it SLAPS!!!
Ok, Crash-course on Iron Maiden
They were founded in the early 1980s (though all of the original lineup were playing in other bands prior to that).
The first two albums, entitled "Iron Maiden" and "Killers" feature Paul DiAnno on vocals. He is an incredible singer, and those first two albums, while distinctly "metal" had a very "late-70's English punk underground" tone to them, so they are a bit different than the rest.
After that, Bruce Dickinson, formerly of Samson stepped in as the lead vocalist. His voice is amazing (next level), he's who you're reacting to today. He's more theatrical, so clearer diction to his words, more spoken-word sections, and his breath control is amazing. He can hold a note at a full belt for eons, lol. His stage presence is second to none.
Then in the early 90s, Bruce stepped away to focus on his solo albums. Blaze Bailey, formerly of Wolfsbane, stepped in as the singer. He's also quite good, but the least favorite of the three in the eyes of most fans. Bruce and Paul are tough acts to follow. His best songs with Maiden are "Virus" and "The angel and the gambler". After his departure, Bruce returned and has been their lead ever since.
Steve Harris, their bassist and the original founding member is a legend as well. He is to Bassists what Neil Peart and Keith Moon are to drummers. The dude has flawless timing.
The rest of the members have changed up over the years, though many have had multiple decade stints with the band. They went from one to two to three guitarists. Adrien Smith has been in it for the long haul, and collaborated on most every other member's solo releases at one point or another. He's tragically underrated, but his sound is distinct... kind a like how if you hear Angus from AC/DC play one note, you immediately know it's AC/DC... same thing here. You can recognize a track as being from Iron Maiden with the first guitar chord, it's a unique and iconic sound.
Iron Maiden is the biggest Metal band globally. They use catchy rhythms and very simple lyrics, so they have a massive following of people outside the English Speaking world, especially South America and Asia, markets other bands just can't penetrate. It's just more accessible.
_____________
Given your musical Background and your other reactions, I would not have chosen this song as your introduction to the band. I would have started you with something from the DiAnno years. "Phantom of the Opera" is a great track to start on. It has no relation to Andrew Lloyd Webber's play of the same name, it actually predates it by 5-6 years.
For Bruce, I'd suggest "Hallowed be thy name" and "Number of the Beast", as well as "Empire of the Clouds". Honestly, as awesome as he is, he's better in his solo work, fewer commercial constraints. Check out the Title Track to his album "The Chemical Wedding", or "Tattooed Millionaire" or "Bring your daughter to the slaughter" (written for the Nightmare on Elm St. franchise).
For Blaze's stuff, I like "Como Esta Amigos" and "The Clansman" (inspired by the movie Braveheart).
These are not necessarily the "best" (most iconic) tracks, but they showcase different aspects of the band and how it's evolved over the years. This is a very prolific band that's had 40+ years to release albums, so there are hundreds of songs. This list is intended to be a well rounded sample rather than a "greatest hits" list.
And if you haven't seen Maiden live, you haven't lived. Even the recorded live shows pale in comparison to actually being there. The crowd is as much a part of the show as the band is.
The Zombie-looking dude (their mascot) is called Eddie. And he was featured in a video game in the mid 90s, called "Ed Hunter", a Doom-style shooter set to Iron Maiden music.
Iron Maiden studio versions are good-great. Maiden live... Something else entirely!!! At their live shows they say that there aren't any "fans" there. If you are in a live crowd, you are one of the band & almost expected to join in.
Dance of Death, at En Vivo is honestly one of the most impressive performances you'll see. How does Bruce run about on stage, leap about on stage, & keep singing while he does this?!?
The best live band I've ever seen by a mile
These guys were born to be the greatest metal band that walks the earth...❤❤❤❤
Eso es en Santiago de Chile!!
Este 27 de noviembre 2024
En el mismo estadio!!
Maiden!! Todos los ticket vendidos en menos de 24 horas❤
Thanks MollyBoy. Maiden are my favourite band and have been since '82. Love yer honesty and the fact that you keep wanting to keep expanding and exploring yer musical journey. If you want something a wee bit different from what Maiden usually bring, you should try THE TALISMAN from EN VIVO or JOURNEYMAN from DEATH ON THE ROAD. UP THE IRONS! 🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤
OMG ❤ Iron Maiden kicks ass💯🤘 Run to the hills is a banner also you should check it out 🎧 Metal Rules 🤘💯🔥 Bruce Dickinson is the singer and Eddie is there Mascot I hope you get to see Eddie hes awesome🤘💯🔥✌️🥰🦾😻🌟📀🔦🐐 Rock on and Rock hard 🤘🎧💯🥰 God Bless you and yours 🙏✌️
Numerous great Melodies, numerous great emotions, sentimentality, beauty, drama, epicness, power, boldness, vigor, dynamics, excitement, great arrangements all at once in most songs, and that’s their signature, and that’s unique and rare!!!
Judas Priest: Beyond the realm of death.
Maiden regularly tour the UK so you should definitely go see them. The live show is stellar! Maiden are one of those rare bands who just keep getting better. We need more Maiden on the channel Moll \m/
whatever you react from Maiden it s better to see the live version. They are the best live band of all time, and of course the best metal band ever walked on earth. you should check Pashandale live from Death on the Road DVD. I know it s gonna be your taste
Ah man so so gutted it's not the rock in rio 2001 version 😢
Rio sounds great, but the editing makes it unwatchable. A Million jump cuts
Iron Maiden is a WORLD treasure
Niko is still a beast behind the drum kit at 71
No, is not, sadly. On the tour during 2023 he was seen incredibly diminished in everything. He had a stroke, so he's not going to play like he used to.
All heavy music has a never-ending debt to Steve Harris.
Fear of the Dark is an amazing song. Iron Maiden have put out absolute bangers their whole career.
Maiden is the shit, absolutely legit. They were my first concert back in 1985 at Long Beach Arena during the Worl Slavery Tour. Blew my minf and set the bar so high. Since then I've seen every metal, punk, hard rock, country, funk, soul and everything in between. From Metallica, Priest, Slayer, Danzig to Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Queen, Joe Strummer, The Pogues, Tom Waits Nick Cave, Auroa, Bowie, NIN on and on, really too many to list. Still, Maiden after all these years more than 15 shows later, they still are the best that there is. Up the Irons!!!
Live version! Preparing to sing along! Looking forward to this
That is Maiden Live in Chile. Here in Chile we love Iron Maiden
Cant wait for you to discover more Maiden.
It doesn't matter if I'm watching them in the 80s or now, Bruce is the HOTTEST frontman. That vibrato..... sighhhhhhhh.
MAIDEN should ONLY be reviewed LIVE !!
Atmosphere off the scale, much more powerful vocals, faster tempo on most riffs etc etc etc...
You liked the Audience? Then you HAVE to do "Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song & Valhalla - Live at Wacken Open Air 2016"! 😜
Both Songs - very different...
You should check out 2mins. to midnight!! It's a banner 🤘 You'll love it 🎉 Rock On And Rock Hard 🤘🤘🤘🤟🤟✌️✌️
When my niece was about 13, she came with me to a concert, just because she wanted to be a part of the crowd singing this!
Do all your Iron Maiden reviews from Live footage!! They’re incredible
Man please if you do "Hallowed Be Thy Name" do the Rock in Rio 2001 version, bro.
I swear if you don't have a complete catharsis with that song there, you're not human at all.
That concert was here, In Santiago , the capital of CHILE. Viva chile mierda.
Hola, more megadeth, ashes in your mouth live un Hammersmith odeon 1992...👌🏼
Maiden live is another level to their music, IMO they are like blown up versions of the studio stuff and has such energy , its almost a completely different animal. Its funny to me how they go from great music on album to literally astonishingly good live yet they sound the same...but somehow they dont lool
I'm rambling now, but I hope some folks get what I mean....to put it another way, and I mean purely from a sound/feel perspective, Maiden albums are like great 2d art...their live performances are great 3d art, its like the same thing but with (more) depth
This is every Iron Maiden concert
Maiden fan since 1982 here and they are one of the best most enjoyable bands to go see
You would love the shows even if you don't know the music
Top metal vocalists:
Dio
Dickenson
Halford
Bach
Tate
Speaking as someone who has been in a band that were touring and heard a crowd sing every word of the song you are playing is a crazy experience, and in my case it was 300 people not 10k, 20 K etc loool also to continue the scaling down in my case, I was playing to a crowd in Glasgow, (I am from Bristol) so it was still far enough for it to be more than a local thing....but going to Chile and having that many peeps singing along must be one hell of an experience
Mate, if Maiden tour again soon - go. 100% worth it while you can. I've seen them play so many times and I always go., Most recently was in Birmingham last year, they're still the best live band I've ever seen and I'm not even into that much metal really.
50,000 crazy Chilean Maiden fans can't be wrong
Great reaction! If you want more maiden I strongly recommend seventh son of a seventh son. It’s a great epic with some of their best guitar work ever. Up the irons!
React to Black rain from Soundgarden please, that's a great song. There are only a few live Versions and they aren't as good as the studio one, they are still good though.
.... listen to" hellowed be thy name"...... You won't regret🍀🍀🤘🤘
Nothing to do with this video but the new Falling in Reverse song just dropped called Ronald. Get on it while it's massive. You will love it
Fear of the Dark is a great song, but there are a dozen other Maiden songs I'd react to beforehand. Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight are chief
The problem is Molly, all of the great concerts and bands are in the past. You were born too late bro. You may still have a shot at seeing Metallica.
The weird thing about this performance is that Bruce Dickinson always sings this song to make it sound spooky, when it doesn't really need it. The original doesn't have the laughter and old timey hollywood horror movie inflections in his vocals.
South America kicks everyone's ass at metal and other concerts as well
IN THIS MOMENT : Beautiful Tragedy
(Female lead singer)
Please and thank you. ^^ cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪
For another staggering Live Performance: Blind Guardian - Valhalla
Iron maiden one of the greatest bands of all time any genre any era.
You got to do hallowed be thy name and rhyme of the ancient Mariner live too...
My boy finally did Iron Maiden live! That's the way! And... i recognized no starting teaser, i like you ;)
They were magic in 80 and that has not changed, been part of the backdrop of my life.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME live version
Bucket list: see Maiden in South America.
Legendary band with a legendary performance of a legendary song. 🤘
i saw maiden 14 times, every maiden concert day is a "feiertag" for me. last year i saw them in the 02 arena in london. it was a dream for me and the best concert in my life....😍 (this untypical setlist was amazing)
I think Flight Of The Icarus would hook you to this band for sure-
Blood brothers solo is their most soul touching solo ever.
Evil That Men Do live in Rio bud , try that one, Maiden are brilliant live
Another great reaction. Iron Maiden is an all time favorite from back in the day! 👍
Loved that!!! still more hits from these guys if you get the inclination to do more!!!
I'm going to see Iron Maiden again in October. With my favourite mate
Me too. Tacoma Oct 16th with my best mate as well. It will be my first time.
I've been trying to see these guys live since I was in high school in the 90s and it just hasn't worked out yet. I'm running out of time here.
Iron Maiden Hallowed Be Thy Name from 1983 or 84 live is an all time great live performance on film.
So right about that, Hallowed Be Thy Name, where on The Number Of The Beast indeed a 1982 album, the first album Bruce Dickson did whit Iron Maiden
1982 best performance. Hallowed Be Thy Name is my favorite
@@bretttodd6470 that is the one I am, thinking of
Absolutely!!!
++ another great song
50 years next year!! Going have tickets seen them loads of times absolutely brilliant!!
If you ever see a metal band live. See Iron Maiden. They are one of the greatest shows you will ever see in your life!
THIS IS ONE OF BIGGEST BANDS IN THE WORLD EVER
U gotta do black sabbaths sweet leaf!!
"That crowd is incredible".....because......IRON FUCKING MAIDEN!!!!!
I love iron maiden soo much!!!!
can you do ALEXANDER THE GREAT ????????????????? iron maiden as well....but not live
You made the right choice.
You ain't seen nothing yet
Black Sabbath stands alone in their own category, but Iron Maiden are the Kings of Metal (Nicko McBrain says they are Hard Rock -- fair enough, there was an overlap int early 80's). Metallica and the Thrash bands from the US took a turn in Metal (heavier distortion, less melodic. darker, funnier, faster) that created a new standard. But in the end, all those bands were partly inspired by Maiden.
Still rockin ere mollyboy at 61 .Yav got it all to look forwards to 😎
You have only touched the surface with maiden, keep going, so much more to enjoy🤘🏻🤘🏻
