      Holy fuck, give it up already you fucking boomers. If talent = good music than why does Queen and Tool have such horrible music?... Music is random sounds put together, anything can be music if you put the sounds into a melody. Also, just because there was no auto tune or sampling doesn't mean they didn't need sound engineers to make it sound decent. Bands still needed to use correction tools in the studio back in the day otherwise it would all just sound like static. That is all autotune is, is a correction tool.

    Maiden are the ultimate musical story tellers. I often think they sound like modern heavy metal versions of old medieval folk songs. They are true masters! Their live shows are always top notch.
    The old Maiden had 2 guitar players. Adrian Smith left the band in 1990 and was replaced by Janick Gers.
    When Bruce left 1994 Maiden kinda hit the wall with a new singer. I couldn’t get into it, I thought Maiden was dead.
    BUT….in 1999 Dickinson and Smith both came back. Janick Gers also remained, and they’ve been rocking with 3 guitarists ever since.
    Their sound is much more progressive now than ever before. But there’s still plenty of that classic Maiden sound peppered throughout.
    I love Maiden now just as much as I ever did since first hearing them back in the early 80’s. To me…they’ve only gotten better with age.

    Such a great song! Bruce is singing about a man that’s locked up, waiting to be executed at 5:00. It is a peek inside the mind of a man about to die, questioning life, god, the afterlife, and even his sanity itself. You should check out “The Number of The Beast” as well as “The Trooper”. Fun fact about Iron Maiden, they have their own 747 for tours and Bruce Dickinson (lead vocalist) is the pilot for the jet. Talented group of fellows

    You need to do the live version from ‘82 at Hammersmith.
    Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 by Bassist Steve Harris. For their first two albums they had a different lead singer Paul Di’Anno. For their third album “Number of the Beast”, of which this song is from, they replaced lead singer with Bruce Dickinson. This album was released in 1982 and the Trooper is from their fourth record “Piece of Mind”. Iron Maiden is one of the very few bands with 3 guitar players, this gives some amazing harmonies.
    Some suggestions:
    Aces High
    Rime of the Ancient Mariner
    2 Minutes to Midnight
    Alexander the Great
    Wasted Years
    Fear of the Dark (live in Argentina)

    Good job listening to the studio version first! That's the best way to discover a song...then check out live versions. I will NEVER forget the first time I heard this, right after it came out. I was sitting on my bed with the headphones on just completely immersing myself in it while soaking in the awesome cover art. I not only think this is Maiden's best but one of the greatest rock/metal albums of all time! The title track and 22 Acacia Avenue are a couple more must listens.

    Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are my top two favorite heavy metal bands since I was a kid. Over 60 years old and still headbanging. Don't sleep on Priest either, Beyond The Realms of Death, and Victim of Changes are two of many great tracks.
    And don't forget iron maidens earlier stuff, before Bruce Dickinson took over as lead vocalist. You really should start at the beginning, their first album, Iron Maiden.

      Yeah, the first two Iron Maiden albums are quite excellent, as well! A bit more of a "punk" tone to the music, as well.

    You might find it interesting that the singer, Bruce Dickenson, is their pilot who flies the band around the world on tours. The aircraft is called Ed Force One. Bruce is also into fencing and is quite good.

  • @tracierathbun7686
    @tracierathbun7686 5 месяцев назад

    Yes this song is from the 80s, as the lead singer Bruce Dickinson, joined the band in 82 (I believe). They have their own Jet and their lead singer (Bruce) is the pilot. The band was originally formed by Steve Harris, the bass player and he writes their songs. The drummer and all guitarists are all stellar (in addition to Steve and Bruce). They are so in synch with each other and you can tell they LOVE their job! They give 110% to their audience 100% of the time. There is much to say and learn about this band but the most important thing I can say is that to see them live is a MUST! They are among the VERY BEST in live performances. I have been to at least 100+ concerts and Iron Maiden is in my top 5 favorite. (In good company with The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Aerosmith and Motley Crue.) Bruce's voice was still as A-MA-ZING in 2016 as it was in the 80's. The high notes? He can still hit 'em and hold 'em. It is a true travesty that they are somehow STILL NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I enjoyed watching your face as you realized how amazing this song is. I feel so proud - like a mama watching her little one take his first steps! Don't get me wrong, I like R & B and some hip hop and rap but I'm mostly about classic rock and metal and I think now that you have had a taste, you will be hungry for more! Don't know what all you have reacted to as I am a relatively new subscriber but you should check out Cemetary Gates by Pantera and Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne and Victim of Changes by Judas Priest. Those are some of my very faves. Check out the live version of this song and of the 3 I suggested above. I'm a 58 yr old female by the way, (if you are trying to figure the range of your fan base). Well, rock on, and be prepared to be enlightened and amazed on your journey. If you REALLY wanna step out of your comfort zone and hear one of the most beautiful singing voices in the world, discover Barbra Streisand. (All in Love is Fair; Prisoner; My Heart Belongs to Me; Comin in and out of your life; Woman in the Moon; Woman in Love; Tell Him; Evergreen; The Way We Were - just a few of my faves to get u started)

    Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time. Their musicianship is top notch, and they are consummate showmen. If you ever get a chance to see them in concert, do it. In 2024 they're still touring live, and they're still as awesome as they were when I first saw them in 1985.
    Besides this one, among my favorite songs from them are Aces High, Phantom of the Opera, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Deja Vu, Wasted Years, Revelations, Children of the Damned

  • @lee32476

    The main thing to know about Maiden is their music is built like classical music with heavy guitars, and the bassist writes most of the songs. Also the lead singer Bruce Dickinson is basically an opera singer in a metal band. He is also a champion fencer (fancy swordplay) and is a commercial airline pilot that regularly flies the band around the globe on their own giant jet plane. These guys mean business. One of the best metal bands ever.

    You're gonna love diving in to some Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson is a beast on vocals, and his live performances... he's basically running a marathon on stage, while singing with the same power.
    Oh yeah, he flies the plane when they are on tour 🤟🐐
    "Blood brothers" is my favorite song from them.

    • @musickf
      @musickf 5 месяцев назад +1

      He used to fly their plane, but got too old. The British FAA has an age limit and once you hit that, I think 65, or somewhere around there, you have to retire from being a pilot. At least now he can concentrate on fencing again lol.

    One thing about Iron Maiden: You absolutely have to check out their live performances. Might be one of the best live bands ever. Vocals Bruce Dickenson is one of the very best metal vocalists ever. Besides taht, he's also flying the bands own plane around the world for their gigs. The rest of the band is experts in their own field. Bassist has the fastest fingers i've ever seen, and he's also does most of the writing. Add 3 guitarist, each capable of delivering facemelting solos, and a drummer that keeps the gig tight at all times. Top notch band, that i could listen to forever.

    *You mentioned during 'All Nightmare Long' that the bands you like are either dead or no longer touring, except Metallica. Iron Maiden is also still together and still touring. Bassist Steve Harris founded Maiden in 1975. He's still with the band. Bruce Dickinson (singer) has been there since 1981. Nico McBrain has been their drummer since 1982. Dave Murray (guitarist) has been there since 1976. Adrian Smith (guitarist) has been there since 1980. All original, all still playing, all till touring. All still kick ass!* 🤘🤘🤘
