Perfectly said. I just saw them in San Diego last weekend and Bruce told us how we are blood brothers and sisters despite coming from all different countries and areas, then they led into "Blood Brothers". One of the coolest moments of my life ever. Iron Maiden forever! 🤟
@David Terhune - true... so true. My god... so true :) Just wait until she will hear about Bruce and his flying experience, with Ed Force One - Boening 747, and his experience being a captain of Boeing planes. I cannot remember when he got his license, but I think he gained a proper commercial pilot's license after learning to fly in the 1990s (and he was always interested in flying). He also had quite a lot of commercial hours, under his belt - enough to be a pilot of 747 with a proper crew, and passengers. All in all... a person living his life, going all the way in every way. And this is hopefully how we all can approach the life as is - as long as we can :) Edit: usuall stuff: grammar/formatting
Iron Maiden is one of the few bands that you absolute MUST see live (and in person, not just a live recording). Every fan, of the sometimes 100,000+ in the crowd knows every word to every song and joins in. They have such a stage presence, you feel like you're a part of the show. It's hard to describe the energy that permeates everyone and every thing in the venue. It's incredible.
Absolutely is Bruce, this is over 15 years later so his hairs shorter, all the same members with the exception of Janiick Gers the third guitarist they added, still kicking ass, still a force to be reckoned with, showing the young bands today how it should be done!. Great job on the vid reaction Aileen, love seeing a new Maiden fan being born, i suggest Dance of Death or Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, the bass in the latter is amazing, especially when the song slows, Up the Irons!!
Highlight of songs I'd recommend are: From Iron Maiden------ Phantom of the Opera - A must for live version Strange World (this one will be totally different Iron Maiden) From Killers ------ Murders in the Rue Morgue (Very loosely influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's short story, a story of a fugitive being sought for murder) Genghis Khan (an instrumental - perfect for air drumming) Innocent Exile (continues the theme of Murders in the Rue Morgue of an unjustly accused fugitive) Killers (A journey into the twisted mind of a deranged killer) Prodigal Son(about a repentant man reminiscent of the prodigal son parable found in Luke 15 of the bible) Purgatory(lyrics of song read like a poem) Drifter (focuses on the possibility of new beginnings) From The Number of the Beast------ Invaders (It graphically depicts the violence and horror of a defense against a Viking invasion) The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s) 22 Acacia Avenue (The continuation of Charlotte the Harlot) The Number of the Beast (Inspired by a dream Bassist Steve Harris had after watching the movie the Omen2) Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading Anglo-Saxon soldiers) Hallowed be Thy Name (about a man who is about to be put to death and what he goes through) ***You have done From Piece of Mind------ Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps Revelations (Starts with the Hymnal from Oh God of Earth and Alter, the next two verses on the Hindu philosophy, the third verse in Yoga a snake called Kundalini that lives at the base of your spinal cord, during meditation a spiritual entity is created symbolizing the transcendental union with God) Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus) The Trooper (based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854,which took place during the Crimean War) To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert) From Powerslave------ Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII) 2 Minutes to Midnight - About the Doomsday clock for the End of the World Back in The Village (The continuation of the song The Prisoner) Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain) Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (story about about an ocean voyage) From Somewhere in Time------- Wasted Years (A song about the admonition to appreciate the present and not to take things for granted) The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (based on a short story of Alan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film Alexander the Great (About the story of Alexander the Great From 7th Son of a 7th Son (a concept album)------ Infinite Dreams (Detailing someone who is tormented by paranormal dreams and nightmares) The Evil That Men Do (Title taken from a quote in Shakespeare Julius Caesar but the song is unrelated) The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the 7th Son of the 7th Son on his life and his powers) From Fear of the Dark------ Wasting Love (About the emptiness of relationships without love. Another Maiden ballad) Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute a live performance for this one) From Brave New World------ The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us) Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death) Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley) Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams) Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet) From Dance of Death------ No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation) Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance) Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI) From A Matter of Life and Death------ Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age) The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion) Out of the Shadows (Questioning the meaning of life)
@@AileenSenpai Every time you listen to Maiden you are going to get a literature or history lesson. They helped me pass Lit class in college, Copied the lyrics from Rime of the Ancient Mariner and submitted, this of course was before the days before the Internet LOL but I got an A
This band has been around since the 80's and they still deliver. Bruce still hits all the notes and the rest of the band can play the hell out of their instruments. A lot of bands from when I was kid have stayed at the party a little bit too long, but these guys are hittin' it after all this time. Up the irons!
Back in 2007/2008, I was in a bad place mentally and I got commited to the local mental hospital because of severe social anxiety and depression. The initial 3 weeks became 15 weeks, but when I was well enough to leave, one of the first things I did was to attend the Iron Maiden concert at Valle Hovin, Norway, july 2008. From not being able to interact with even family to singing and headbanging with 45.000 other people, was a great victory for me. Iron Maiden means everything and they are timeless. One of my best concert experiences. 🫀👍
Bruce had left the Band in the 90s and had become a commercial airline pilot. For that, he had to cut his hair. This show is from their reunion tour. So the hair is still short. That is why you did not recognize him. In later years, he flew the band and crew in their tour plane around the world. Song recommendations: There are just too many. Some of my personal favorites: "The Clansman" from the same show in 2001 is ridiculously awesome. Or "Dance of Death", which came out a few albums later. That's incredible, too.
Another great Maiden reaction! You must react to Iron Maiden-Rime of the ancient mariner from Flight 666 and also Iron Maiden-Journeyman from Death on the Road to see how versatile of a band Maiden truly are and how diversified the Maiden fans are.
Im shocked you havent check No more lies it has the same insane feeling live performance as fear of the dark. Its almost a crime you havent checked it yet :)
Probably my favorite maiden song. In their older concerts they all just sort of stood around the stage, so they definitely learned to become 'performers' over time. Cute shirt, btw.
Being at the Rock in Rio concert, people were soooooo excited to see the band. When they finally came on stage, I saw grown men crying. Literally started crying when they finally started to play!! Nobody has the energy, love or support of their fans like Maiden!!!
The Rock in Rio performance of Revaltions. It highlights Bruce, and it is a love song of sorts. It is a feature if most of their tours. The 85 Rock in Rio concert features Bruce injuring himself in an interesting way, and he doesn't miss a beat.
My first fave song ever 🤘😎🤘 Piece of Mind was my first record ever. I got to buy it as a birthday present for myself when I turned 9 years old (1984, yep I'm still alive and kicking). It came out in May and my birthday is in June. Revelation became my favorite song right away and it was the first Maiden song that I learned on drums so it's close to my heart and will always be one of my fave. Then I love the drums on Where Eagles Dare on the same record especially the intro. Actually, the whole album is too good not to listen through the entire album 🤘😎🤘 Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
@@jonaslindberg5482 Great memories! Live After Death was my first album, and I got it shortly after it came out. Within a month I had bought both Powerslave and Piece of Mind. The Trooper was my first Maiden song that I heard. Half way through the song, I thought that my life will never be the same again. This music will always be a part of my life. Revaltions was my favorite song for about 25 years. Rime has been my favorite for the past 10. (The Trooper for the rest.) Maiden has contributed to a life well lived. Up The Irons!
@@opticFPV I agree that Bruce's voice is better on other live versions of Revalations. In the early versions Maiden played with a greater hunger that shows through, and the blood trickle on his face is a cool visual for a first time viewer. I think the version of Revalations to play for a first time viewer comes down to a gut feeling about the viewer's personality and preferences. For other reactors, I would pick the cleaner vocals. I thought she would appreciate the more emotional power packed version. Either way, the theater of the mind for her will show through. You really can't go wrong with either one.
I was there in the crowd in this concert in 2001.... watching your reactions make me feel I was back in my teenager times, listen those songs for the first time once again....
They did this 200-300 times/year for 35-40 years and another 5-10 years with 160-200. Arenas to the very end. Few gigs they ever did the last 40 years up untill the end - had less than 50k tickets sold. And it almost NEVER happened that a single one was not sold out to the last ticket in days, 6-8 months in advance. And this no matter if metal and rock was in a low or a high point in the music landscape at the time or not. Bruce even got a pilot licence for a 747 and flew the band around the world himself in a Jumbo Jet painted "IRON MAIDEN" with Eddie on the stabilizer. (look up pics of Maiden planes) On his free time he worked full time as a pilot for an airline even. Which in itself is crazy because that is a highly professional job and he had no need for the money. He took on that full time job only because he liked it. On top of that he used that plane to fly in food and emergency materials to catastrophes like the Tsunami in Asia during X-mas in 2004. The world governments were low staffed during the holidays and that made critical stuff slow to organize so he just filled up a plane with what was needed most and flew it there himself to get the world community a little extra time to get their help organized. Within days after the waves hit an Iron Maiden plane full of critical material support landed with Iron Maiden painted all over it and a horror'ish figure (Eddie) painted on it 5m tall. Epic dedication on all levels. Just getting a commercial license to Captain Jumbojets DURING an active metal carreer WHILE playing 250 Arenas per year is sick when you know what it takes. Years of 100% concentration on that task alone is what it takes for most. But not only that... It also meant he had to be dead sober for most of his carreer. Not a small thing to impose on yourself touring 9-10 months per year, with another one spent recording albums, and 1 free('ish) For that plane to land in Thailand like 4-5 days after the catastrophy with the cargo it had, piloted by the lead singer of Iron Maiden - both the band and of cource Bruce needed to have kept Maiden capable to remain untouched by trivial things like what's in or out... for decades. What bands can keep a jumbo jet for 30 years after all? What metal band has a member capable of touring without end sober while becoming and remaining an airline pilot? What band generate enough money to fill up a jumbo jet with stuff, and fly it to the other side of the world to give it away 30 years after they formed? And what confidence did that show in their ability to sell out 250 arenas per year for yet years to come? Because if you felt a decline, you would need to save your money for the future. Iron Maiden was metal, but still existed in their own metal universe unaffected even by what happened in the metal world. They just borrowed their audience from all other rock bands for a day or two in every country, every year. And for those days no matter your metal sub genre "main" for the rest of the year: For those days every year in every country they toured - They were undisputed "Gods" Maiden much like AC/DC didn't visit cities, they took them over when they came. Pop radio channels that never played rock otherwise played their music in cities they visited. No matter where you were in a city they visited a 10 minute walk would make you notice they were in town just from how many people dressed those days. They were THAT big. They changed the vibe of whole cities by just being in them. Iron Maiden (and AC/DC) Ed Force One: ruclips.net/video/nwpvoUYaR9U/видео.html
Rime of an ancient mariner from flight 666 would be all this band is all about - fantastic storytelling and guitar melodies. Clansman from RIO or Sign of a cross are also two popular epic songs. Their longeest songs is Empire of a clouds which is almost 20 minutes of music and great story. Pick whatever really :) This band really shines on stage.
I saw them in 1983 and was blown away. The energy was nonstop, their performance was top notch. Then saw them the last time in 2019, and you could put both shows side by side and wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Still as awesome and energetic as always. You really need to see them live.
Just saw them at Download this weekend, now in their late 60s they still rock for 2hrs, new album this year and they show no sign of stopping, Bruce can still belt it out even after his throat cancer
Definitely do Rime of the Ancient Mariner from their Flight 666 DVD, that performance specifically is what I send to people to explain why Maiden is one of the greatest bands of all time. I tend to disagree with the people that always recommend the Rock in Rio versions of their performances, I think Flight 666 has overall better performances, and better audio and video quality. You can hear the crowd better on Flight 666 as well.
Iron Maiden were here in Bulgaria 10 days ago ... and i had the pleasure to watch them live for second time 15 years after i watched them for the first time ... they are old now (Bruce 63 and younger of them all). Rock In Rio 2001 was more than 20 years ago and i think that this was like their best time .. It's not strange that this is one of their most iconic concerts. They still have the power, Bruce still have the stamina to run all over the stage all the time and keep his long tones. It was sad for me to realise, when i saw them again the other day, that this days are gone. I mean, the man is 63, still have the inner power and, damn, this man ages like wine, but .... well .... he is not running the same mileage as before and that specific loving long vibration high tones are becoming more and more short .... somehow cut and ... like spitted. Somehow more yelled than sung. Still, one of the best bands ever. Great musicians! I was caught by your reaction to the changes in this song specificly and i just want to put the things like that ... On this stage, there are Bruce and 5 other man, playing 3 guitars, a base and drums and all this man are achieving this kind of sync, so all of this changes are just flawless! Of course, the many years on stage are contributing, but it's not only that. Adrian Smith and Dave Murray are well known for playing so good together, that when doing the same riff, you must listen very carefully to understand that there are two guitars "singing" at this moment! Steve's bass lines ... Oh, ... i can write so much about that. Iconic bass lines, that are recognizeble all over the world of heavy metal. He has this technique - "The gallop", that is so iconic for him. I'm stopping right here. Have a nice evening and sorry for the long comment. I get a bit disctracted, when talking for favorite musicians.
Heard this performance countless times and it still gives me goosebumps. I love this song. Less than 3 weeks now before seeing them again live in Paris, I just can't wait.
I got into the world of Iron Maiden when I was 11 years old, listening to The Number of the Beast to exhaustion. 41 years later, they still help me process the darker moments on a personal level. They give me rest, they give me peace, they give me life. I have no words to describe how important music can be in processing grief. Thank you for so much and Up the Irons!
I've seen them live 5 times and their show is always incredible. Absolutely epic music that is meaningful and full of true storytelling, through lyrics and music. Some of the greatest musicians in all of metal, rock and roll and all music. I'll keep watching your reactions as I can never hear enough Iron Maiden.
My very first concert in 1982! Steve Harris is an amazing bassist and wrote most of the songs. Please react to Queensryche, “Take Hold of the Flame” live.
Iron Maiden has been around (starting with the release of their first album) for 42 years. When you start diving into Maiden you are going to see major time jumps. Bruce will be young with long hair in one video, short hair in next, then grey hair in another. There is also one major vocal point in Bruce's career: Pre-Throat Cancer and Post-Throat Cancer around 2014-2015. But the Iron Maiden energy remains the same.
The first song that drew me into Iron Maiden as a kid in the early 80's was "Flight of Icarus". Bruce's vocals on that track got me hooked. There is a live video from Live After Death 1985 that would be great to react to.
i can tell she isnt faking reaction becuase of the random smiles she gets when the tones change and i remember things i felt the first time i heard this song.
Maiden was my 1st concert at 13yrs, that was in 84. Still follow them all these years later. Steve is a God on bass. Bruce is still going strong even after his battle with cancer and never knew if he'd sing again. They just keep getting better and better.
Rime of the ancient mariner off the 1985 life after death live album is my favorite live song by them of all time. That song and powerslave should be listened to in tandem.
I'm a new viewer and really enjoying watching you fall in love with the music I grew up with. If you want a great song from Iron Maiden, Powerslave. One of their masterpieces. Enjoy! ☺️
Even in metal you don't always get to see the differences in the fans compared to a lot (most?) of other music, but the last phrase in this really showcases something that I don't think you'd see anywhere else. The guitar returns to that slow-ish, clean tone melody, and the whole crowd is vocalizing it along with the guitar. Then Bruce goes into the last two lines *and the crowd doesn't join him*. They keep doing the melody to go underneath him. So gorgeous
That was in 1999 in Reo and they sold almost 300,000 tickets to the Soccer stadium where it was held...But some say it was larger than the original Woodstock concert.. I saw Iron Maiden many times in the mid to late 80's..I have photos and autographs from all but Adrian Smith....
I really like how You don't only focus on the vocals, but appreciate the instrumental work as well. Your reaction on the small drum fill at about 9:00 especially. 👍 and 🤘
To think most of the band members are now in their 60's and Nicko (drummer) is actually pushing 70 and they're still touring and performing at this level! And yes, the singer is still Bruce Dickinson. So glad you're discovering Iron Maiden, you have 40 years of back catalogue to catch up on! Enjoy..🤘🤘
Did see Iron maiden in Finland years ago a Rock festival! And when they did sing this song the fog did arrive after a big storm! It was Epic, and the song do gives me goosebumps eveytime i hear it.
Current line up all of them in this video: Bruce Dickinson - Vocals Steve Harris - Bass Nicko Mcbrain - Drums Jenick Gers - Guitar Dave Murray - Guitar Adrian Smith - Guitar
When it comes to "supplements" for live performance, Steve runs the band like a business. So Maiden, for the most part, are one of those clean bands that don't indulge in drug$ for live performance. Atleast from what I have heard/read. 80s/90s Metallica, on the other hand.
One thing I love about this song, so many switches in rhythms and even tempos. This is the rock equivalent of flow switches. Can't think of another song that has any more change ups in the rhythm
A bit late here, but Bruce is absolutely amazing to see live. Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since I was about 3, am 44 now. The way the crowd gets involved hits you on a spiritual level so deep its emotionally paralyzing. Fear of the Dark is by far my favorite 🤘
Bruce is their second singer, he's joined them on their third album. This tour is for their 12th album called Brave New World, when Dickinson came back after doing his solo work, so his vocal has changed a little but it was still amazing. When Adrian Smith came back after doing his solo work too (he has a great vocal as well) they didn't kick Janick Gets out but decided to have three guitar players. That's the story in a nutshell. Rock in Rio is one of their best performances of the whole career.
This tour was a couple years after Bruce beat throat cancer. I saw this tour in 19 in Dallas. He’s lost a fraction of his range, but still such a fantastic show! Bucket list event for sure!!!!!
Some of my personal favorite Iron Maiden songs you should listen to: Sign of the Cross Live The Wicker Man Rainmaker Paschendale These Colours Don't Run Dance of Death When the Wild Wind Blows Phantom of the Opera The Trooper The Clansman Can I Play With Madness
One of my favorites live is 'Dance of Death' in particular the 'En Vivo' concert in Santiago Chile ( ruclips.net/video/GoBok1xd93M/видео.html ). This is from 2011 which is another 10 years after the one you reacted to. It is a very dramatic song and Bruce does a lot of storytelling via his singing.
Why does everyone suggest the En Vivo version over the Death on the Road version? I'm not nitpicking, I just see this recommendation a lot and am curious why this one over that one. The Death on the Road version is much more theatrical.
I find it soooo inspiring witnessing someone experiencing Maiden for the first time especially seeing their live performances. takes me back to 1986 when I was 10 years old getting my first taste of these badasses. great video! well worth a like and sub!
Iron Maiden + Brazilian Audience = Unforgettable Show PS: I'm from Brazil and this show was the best of the best shows I've had here in my country and this year Iron Maiden at Rock In Rio 2022
Nice reaction since you appreciate specific details. From vocals, instruments to performance. Though I've noticed that this is more common among metal/rock fans (and musicians of course). Seeing this also reminded me of something. I recognize the guy at 8:21, singing along with his arms in the air. He flew in from Europe for this concert and played (don't know if he's active now) in a heavy metal band. Me and my band (black metal) did several gigs together with his many years ago.
Amazing video! These are their other "best" live performances: The Trooper (en vivo), Dance of Death (en vivo) and Rime of the Ancient Mariner (flight 666)
he did like a beer but other than that was against taking substances tho i do believe he said he smoked a joint at a pool party the first time he came to the states?
Where Eagles Dare. Iron Maiden one of the few bands that can play any of their songs and people will stay. Most bands if they do not play the hits people walk away. Love Iron Maiden
Yes, Bruce had his hair short after leaving Iron Maiden after coincidentally the Fear Of The Dark album, to pursue solo projects. Possibly the other big difference here, between 20th century Iron Maiden and here is that they're are now a 6 piece. When singer Blaze Bailey left, Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith rejoined. I don't know what other Iron Maiden you've listened to but the first Album following Bruce's and Adrian's return, Brave New World is packed with great tracks, really making the most of their new sound as a six piece (three guitar) band.
Bassist Steve Harris is the principle songwriter of Iron Maiden and pretty much runs the band. If I'm not mistaken, he co-produces most of their albums as well. This is why his bass guitar sound is always front and center.
Been lucky enough to see these gentlemen live and can only describe the event as pure demonstration showmanship and a masterclass of how to put on a show. The band give so much to the crowd and they don't stop or slow down while they are on stage. They just did a headline set at Download Festival in the UK this weekend just gone and stole the show.
Been a Maiden fan since 1981. Great to see the youth get off on older music for the first time when for us old fans, it’s been with us most of our lives. Be well!
I saw Iron Maiden multiple times like 15 years ago, and oh boy it was something different. Havent experienced that hole atmosphere and fan culture since. People were stomping their feet, shouting and clapping so loud i tought the hole arena would fall apart. Everything was shaking like it was an earthquake. Bruce flying and band members chilling in the corner pub having a pint. Also Rock in Rio -dvd is golden, specially Fear of the dark is one of the best performances ever.
I really enjoyed watching you having a good time enjoying one my favourite metal band performing one of their best song. For the story, Bruce Dickinson is the lead vocalist of Iron Maiden but he's also a fully qualified airline captain. And I remember flying with him as a passenger, not knowing he was the captain of the flight until the unboarding, when I recognized him when leaving the plane. The moment was so short, but it is an unforgettable moment to meet such a legend as an ordinary captain.
You need to see them live first hand, Iron Maiden shows are phenomenal, and for the even better news, they are back on tour, and are including songs from the new album. Up the Irons.
Love your energy and reactions Aileen. Keep up the great work. Maiden are a phenomenal band. Every song is a story or a little piece of history. So much good stuff. I would suggest "Dance of Death" live in Santiago, Chile.
if you haven't reacted to them yet, I suggest Take Hold of the Flame [Queensrÿche - Live in Tokyo 1984/08/05] to see what you make of another great rock singer - Geoff Tate. Thanks.
"The thing about metal? It unites people"
Well said!
Perfectly said. I just saw them in San Diego last weekend and Bruce told us how we are blood brothers and sisters despite coming from all different countries and areas, then they led into "Blood Brothers". One of the coolest moments of my life ever. Iron Maiden forever! 🤟
@David Terhune - true... so true. My god... so true :)
Just wait until she will hear about Bruce and his flying experience, with Ed Force One - Boening 747, and his experience being a captain of Boeing planes.
And this is hopefully how we all can approach the life as is - as long as we can :)
Edit: usuall stuff: grammar/formatting
Bruce Dickinson singer, Steve Harris bass, Dave Murray guitar, Adrian Smith guitar, Jannick Gers guitar... and "The Man" Nicko McBrain drums

It's when jannick and Dave play each others guitars.
I've seen the live at the future past tour and i agree 100%. Just bought tickets for 2025 and can't wait to feel it again
And the drummer, Nicko McBrain. In the previous reaction the original drummer was Clive Burr.
@@rubentullenaar2934 True i had forgotten to write that, ty for the reminder, bless Clive
It's Rime

Metal Mark 12, EXCELLENT COMPILATION with explanations.
THANK YOU for the extensive list! Appreciate you taking the time to write this out with explantations as well! :D
I really like "Sign of the Cross" also. Some really nice guitar solos live.
@@AileenSenpai Every time you listen to Maiden you are going to get a literature or history lesson. They helped me pass Lit class in college, Copied the lyrics from Rime of the Ancient Mariner and submitted, this of course was before the days before the Internet LOL but I got an A
Pfft, you missed 'so' many
(:
This band has been around since the 80's and they still deliver. Bruce still hits all the notes and the rest of the band can play the hell out of their instruments. A lot of bands from when I was kid have stayed at the party a little bit too long, but these guys are hittin' it after all this time. Up the irons!
The band has been around since 1975, actually.
Greatest metal band of all time
1975
1975
Back in 2007/2008, I was in a bad place mentally and I got commited to the local mental hospital because of severe social anxiety and depression. The initial 3 weeks became 15 weeks, but when I was well enough to leave, one of the first things I did was to attend the Iron Maiden concert at Valle Hovin, Norway, july 2008.
From not being able to interact with even family to singing and headbanging with 45.000 other people, was a great victory for me. Iron Maiden means everything and they are timeless. One of my best concert experiences. 🫀👍
Bruce's son Griffin is also the singer of a rock/metal band called SHVPES, their song Undertones are amongst my favorite recent discoveries.
Saw them last week, they still bring this same energy at 60+ years old! Incredible musicians
Another great Maiden reaction! You must react to Iron Maiden-Rime of the ancient mariner from Flight 666 and also Iron Maiden-Journeyman from Death on the Road to see how versatile of a band Maiden truly are and how diversified the Maiden fans are.
+1 for Rime of the Ancient Mariner from Flight 666!
Agree on rime of the ancient mariner
Im shocked you havent check No more lies it has the same insane feeling live performance as fear of the dark. Its almost a crime you havent checked it yet :)
Probably my favorite maiden song.
In their older concerts they all just sort of stood around the stage, so they definitely learned to become 'performers' over time.
Cute shirt, btw.
Being at the Rock in Rio concert, people were soooooo excited to see the band. When they finally came on stage, I saw grown men crying. Literally started crying when they finally started to play!! Nobody has the energy, love or support of their fans like Maiden!!!
If this is the Live In Rio performance, I’m here for it. Honestly any version is great!
It is.
I'd much prefer the Flight 666 version of Revelations personally. Better audio and video quality, and his voice is basically perfect on Flight 666.
Agreed, "Revelations" is one of my all time favourite Maiden tracks along with "Infinite Dreams" 🤘🤘
I was there in the crowd in this concert in 2001.... watching your reactions make me feel I was back in my teenager times, listen those songs for the first time once again....
Props on catching the bass, tragically underrated
(look up pics of Maiden planes)
On his free time he worked full time as a pilot for an airline even.
Not a small thing to impose on yourself touring 9-10 months per year, with another one spent recording albums, and 1 free('ish)
For that plane to land in Thailand like 4-5 days after the catastrophy with the cargo it had, piloted by the lead singer of Iron Maiden - both the band and of cource Bruce needed to have kept Maiden capable to remain untouched by trivial things like what's in or out... for decades.
And for those days no matter your metal sub genre "main" for the rest of the year:
For those days every year in every country they toured - They were undisputed "Gods"
Maiden much like AC/DC didn't visit cities, they took them over when they came. Pop radio channels that never played rock otherwise played their music in cities they visited.
No matter where you were in a city they visited a 10 minute walk would make you notice they were in town just from how many people dressed those days.
They were THAT big.
They changed the vibe of whole cities by just being in them. Iron Maiden (and AC/DC)

Saw iron maiden for the first time recently live in Warsaw. They were absolutely incredible. Possibly the best live band ever
I really like the clansman and sign of the cross.. Really epic and good performance.
I love clansman
HEAR THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER
If you hadn't suggested it, i would have for sure :D
When the wild wind blows😜
I saw them in 1983 and was blown away. The energy was nonstop, their performance was top notch. Then saw them the last time in 2019, and you could put both shows side by side and wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Still as awesome and energetic as always. You really need to see them live.
Just saw them at Download this weekend, now in their late 60s they still rock for 2hrs, new album this year and they show no sign of stopping, Bruce can still belt it out even after his throat cancer
They were amazing, I was lucky to record a few videos but was too in the moment!
Going to be seeing Maiden tonight at Download Festival UK ✌️✌️✌️
Definitely do Rime of the Ancient Mariner from their Flight 666 DVD, that performance specifically is what I send to people to explain why Maiden is one of the greatest bands of all time. I tend to disagree with the people that always recommend the Rock in Rio versions of their performances, I think Flight 666 has overall better performances, and better audio and video quality. You can hear the crowd better on Flight 666 as well.
I can't wait to see them again this fall in NYC. I'm extremely fortunate to have lived in the time of Iron Maiden
Always get chills from this performance, the crowd singing the guitar melodies is just incredible. One of my top 5 Maiden songs easily
One of the biggest choirs in the world. The concerts are always amazing and give deep chills.
I got into the world of Iron Maiden when I was 11 years old, listening to The Number of the Beast to exhaustion. 41 years later, they still help me process the darker moments on a personal level. They give me rest, they give me peace, they give me life. I have no words to describe how important music can be in processing grief. Thank you for so much and Up the Irons!
my friend a been a fan of Maiden since 1987 until today I'm almost 50 years old!!!
One of the best Maiden songs ever, for sure. and they are DEFINITLY a live band, which means they live for the stage, not for the studio.
And yet they still manage to be the GOAT in the studio too
I've seen them live 5 times and their show is always incredible.
I started listening to Iron Maiden in 1979 - Love them still. They are amazing; all of them. Love your reaction to this also Aileen!
Love the hands 😂❤
Hi Aileen, let me recommend you "Dance of the death" and "When the wild wind blows" the story telling from Bruce is just incredible! 🤯
Iron Maiden - the clansman live @rock in Rio 2001
i can tell she isnt faking reaction becuase of the random smiles she gets when the tones change and i remember things i felt the first time i heard this song.
Maiden was my 1st concert at 13yrs, that was in 84. Still follow them all these years later. Steve is a God on bass. Bruce is still going strong even after his battle with cancer and never knew if he'd sing again. They just keep getting better and better.
That was recorded in Brazil where we even sing to guitar solos! :) There were over 250,000 people at this show.
Rime of the ancient mariner off the 1985 life after death live album is my favorite live song by them of all time. That song and powerslave should be listened to in tandem.
Love this tune 😂
I'm a new viewer and really enjoying watching you fall in love with the music I grew up with. If you want a great song from Iron Maiden, Powerslave. One of their masterpieces. Enjoy! ☺️
Iron Maiden is out touring now, you should seriously consider going!
Next Iron Maiden - “Dance of Death” (Live EN VIVO! Version)
Bass & chief songwriter - Steve Harris, Guitars - Janick Gers, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Drums - Nicko McBrain, Vocals - Bruce Dickinson
Was there 2001, that was their return to Brazil with Bruce and as a trio of guitars! I can remember every single moment!
Enjoy..🤘🤘
I love how you react to music. You can see the love for sounds, you can see the love for the bass line. Thanks
Did see Iron maiden in Finland years ago a Rock festival! And when they did sing this song the fog did arrive after a big storm! It was Epic, and the song do gives me goosebumps eveytime i hear it.
Current line up all of them in this video:
Bruce Dickinson - Vocals
Steve Harris - Bass
Nicko Mcbrain - Drums
Jenick Gers - Guitar
Dave Murray - Guitar
Adrian Smith - Guitar
When it comes to "supplements" for live performance, Steve runs the band like a business. So Maiden, for the most part, are one of those clean bands that don't indulge in drug$ for live performance. Atleast from what I have heard/read. 80s/90s Metallica, on the other hand.
The best version of this song, period.
It's probably their best concert. Firing on all cylinders, the crowd was insane, it's too awesome.
@@RafitoOoO It's one of the best live albums ever recorded imo
One thing I love about this song, so many switches in rhythms and even tempos. This is the rock equivalent of flow switches. Can't think of another song that has any more change ups in the rhythm
A bit late here, but Bruce is absolutely amazing to see live. Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since I was about 3, am 44 now. The way the crowd gets involved hits you on a spiritual level so deep its emotionally paralyzing. Fear of the Dark is by far my favorite 🤘
Hell yeah! Rime Of The Ancient Mariner-from-Flight 666 next. I'm pretty damn sure you'll love reacting to that.
Rock in Rio 2001 - Sanctuary. The crowd interaction from the band & specifically Bruce is insane.
You know you got a song right when all the crowd sings the guitar riffs, and I must say Niko is like good wine, he gets better with ages.
Rock in Rio 2001, I'm there in the middle, an incredible energy. The fantastic show.
In Rio de Janeiro, the heat and the sun are too wonderful.
I was there !! ..Rock in Rio ..they played the best of their old songs....it was awesome.... greetinga from Brazil !! ..🤘😎🤘
Some of my personal favorite Iron Maiden songs you should listen to:
Sign of the Cross Live
The Wicker Man
Rainmaker
Paschendale
These Colours Don't Run
Dance of Death
When the Wild Wind Blows
Phantom of the Opera
The Trooper
The Clansman
Can I Play With Madness
One of my favorites live is 'Dance of Death' in particular the 'En Vivo' concert in Santiago Chile ( ruclips.net/video/GoBok1xd93M/видео.html ). This is from 2011 which is another 10 years after the one you reacted to. It is a very dramatic song and Bruce does a lot of storytelling via his singing.
2001 actually. My mom was still with us and we watched together against her will LOL.
Why does everyone suggest the En Vivo version over the Death on the Road version? I'm not nitpicking, I just see this recommendation a lot and am curious why this one over that one. The Death on the Road version is much more theatrical.
One of my favorites of the newer Iron Maiden songs…it feels like a classic
I find it soooo inspiring witnessing someone experiencing Maiden for the first time especially seeing their live performances. takes me back to 1986 when I was 10 years old getting my first taste of these badasses. great video! well worth a like and sub!
That video (Live in Rio from Rock In Rio) is by far my favourite version. Sounds great, crowds great, pure metal heaven.
Iron Maiden + Brazilian Audience = Unforgettable Show
PS: I'm from Brazil and this show was the best of the best shows I've had here in my country and this year Iron Maiden at Rock In Rio 2022
Love your shirt. The fact that all the members of Iron Maiden is 60 plus... The drummer is 70... ish...and still rocking...
This was from rock in Rio back in the 2000’s
I have seen Maiden 4 times every time was unique. Love the appearance of Eddie. Love this band.
This will not disappoint you, was at this show in Rio. You will LOVE
Amazing video! These are their other "best" live performances: The Trooper (en vivo), Dance of Death (en vivo) and Rime of the Ancient Mariner (flight 666)
You just HAVE to do Iron Maiden - The Talisman Live En Vivo! One of Bruce's finest live performances
You know what's Legendary.... Your reactions to Metal Songs and Videos
That's Bruce's energy. This song is about halfway through too. Keeps it up the rest of the show. Did clean and sober, no substances needed.
Well there is also the fact that (im pretty sure) if Bruce stands still he will spontaneously combust lol
he did like a beer but other than that was against taking substances tho i do believe he said he smoked a joint at a pool party the first time he came to the states?
Where Eagles Dare. Iron Maiden one of the few bands that can play any of their songs and people will stay. Most bands if they do not play the hits people walk away. Love Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden is Bruce Dickinson-Vocals, Steve Harris-Bass, Dave Murray-Guitar, Adrian Smith-Guitar, Janick Gers-Guitar, Nicko McBrain-Drums
Rock in Rio, the one and only place every band dreams to play at at least once ....
Iron Maiden is one of the bands that will be on of the best forever.....
Iron maiden are all my heroes! I have watched this video thousands of times and every time I get so frickin emotional!
Been a Maiden fan since 1981. Great to see the youth get off on older music for the first time when for us old fans, it’s been with us most of our lives. Be well!
Bruce Dickenson, Singer, Commercial Pilot, and Gentleman!
He flies "Ed Force One", the bands Boeing 747. You can't miss it at an airport!
Look at the concert footage from Flight 666 during the South American concerts. The fanaticism in their love for Maiden is amazing.
Seeing the joy on your face listening to this made my night! ☺️ I only heard Iron Maiden for the first time a few years ago and I was hooked!
These dudes are MASTERS at key and time signature changes.
Thanks.
