Same - this is still growing on me but the W222 has that real big broad elegant merc look where as this has a little more of an japanese car look (subtly of course).
I mean this car seems to be pulling like crazy even at over 250 kph, but the sound and the limited top speed just before the 300 kph mark are taking away the last bit of "ooompphh" this car needs.
I don't understand how a brand as prestigious as Mercedes has the need to artificially produce what the car cannot produce naturally. But even so, can anyone explain to me how Mercedes found it reasonable to create that launch controll sound? I'm speechless. And by the way, to make matters worse, the performance of this new Mercedes doesn't justify the 800 HP and 1430 Nm at all. I didn't expect to be so disappointed with this car.
That's what happens when suits in a boardroom aren't in touch with what the people want. No true enthusiasts has ever asked for fake noises. A loud exhaust is half for the driver's enjoyment and half for everyone else with ears (wether they like it or not). They know they messed up giving up the V8 and now trying to add all sorts of things that don't add up to much to keep the car interesting. These 4 cylinder AMGs I bet will depreciate massively. Their market will be narrow when brand new and even narrower in the 2nd hand market.

This hybrid is some misunderstanding that unnecessarily increases the weight of the car and reduces dynamics. The previous S-Class 63 AMG easily reached 315 km/h only a petrol engine, but 100 kg less weight.

We have an A7 and with all the acoustic glass and sound deadening, there's really not much noise difference between 60 mph and 120 mph. This S-class is even the next level up... i'd like to experience it. Just a silent, 5500 lb metal machine at speed.
Keep in mind the amount of isolation. That's why every V8 and 7 series, A8, S Class will never sound like a coupé with the same engine. Even if you put an after market exhaust on it. You would need to modify much more. S class and 7 series are the most isolated vehicles on the market in terms of NVH. Noise vibration harness
Although this is not as bad as the new C63, I can’t just find a way to like that fake engine sound from the speakers. It sounds like a 4-cylinder, has completely lost it’s charisma. Also although it’s expensive, the interior doesn’t really look that exclusive either anymore imo. Change my mind.
I get that it doesn‘t look that exclusive to you but once you step inside, the materials are really good. I tried an S580 and it hat details like a leather covered glovebox, things that I thought were sadly a thing of the past at MB.
Mercedes isn’t as uniform as they use to be. You could tell a C class is a Class, an E is an E, distinctively. I grew out of the interior as well, and that’s why I love Mercedes the most. I hate to say it, the new BMW 7 series is more appealing than this new S class.
I thought the same trying to look futuristic and modern but looks tacky and what will it look like in a few years after a thousand scratches but I guess that's first world problems 😂
Despite all the gimmicks and the quirks this thing has, can't deny that it is a beast. 800HP S-Class stock... the only time you'd see those numbers and words together is with Brabus. Yes, it's a trend, but both bmw and audi are offering much better packages at the moment... the sclass should be full electric... at this point... the c63 should have the v8 with a mild hybrid. It's a Halo car for the class.. it was defined by the sound and engine now as the complete opposite

I hope dodge and Chevrolet and Ford make electric and gas dual motors like this by utilizing electricity for big torque and acceleration and a gas engine for a bigger top speed and giving back all the drawbacks of electric cars like sound top speeds tuning etc. Mercedes flagship cars have always been a decade or so ahead of American engineering now all Americans need is affordable way to apply this combo in to muscle cars and touring sedans

The performance is not so impressive because of extra ~400kg, compared to W222 S63 model year 2019.
